Problems With the Half Million Mile Mercedes Common w123 issue bad transmission Lines

  • So in this video I cover a common w123 problem and the parts to fix it. The transmission oil cooler lines tend to vibrate and get holes in them overtime. If you don't catch it you could easily destroy a transmission and possibly get stranded so important to check from time to time. It is a pretty straight forward bolt in and bolt out fix so I didn't video a lot of the actual part changing but hit the high spots of things to address or look out for. Thanks for watching!

Great video 👍 Good bit of rust protection from trans fluid, lower hub ball joints is top priority repair on a mercedes vehicle's as is a very common failure point😮

I had a camera that would just focus where it wanted. I am of the opinion that a good quality car can last forever if it is maintained. Thanks for the video keep on keeping on.

Yup I am pretty sure rust in the unibody will be what eventually takes this one off the road.

    Thanks Brian,
One of those maintenance inspection items we do not do when changing the oils, especially a motor that is coated with rust preventers. Tough to recognize a new source of rust prevention unless you stick a piece of cardboard underneath in a marked location to be able to compare drip locations.

Thanks Brian. "Rode around on FedEx for a month" 🤣From my experience it's a reciprocal system, I have same ordeal getting stuff shipped the other way USA to Europe. Think you've had your fair share of well-that-ain't-good for the year.

My w116 has very similar lines. I have not fired it up since December. I should give it an oil change and an inspection before summer

This is what happens when a vehicle in this class ends up being owned outside of its targeted consumer group.
If this vehicle were owned by someone in the targeted market group, the deteriorating clamp liners would nave been detected by a certified Mercedes technician at genuine Mercedes dealer during one of its regular quarterly PM inspections and those lines could have been replaced for a couple thousand dollars, along with a few other things (at additional cost).😂👍

Yep. Those were my thoughts, too. I've owned MB cars for the last 40 years, but I have never considered looking after them myself. I've only had one breakdown when the alternator went out.

I think I might have been better off spending the $300 and doing it myself. lol If I took this car into the dealer it would probably need $30k worth of work! lol

my Mini Cooper Air Conditioning condensor wore a hole through due to a dodgy clip, finally found that after i lost cooling. crazy how a 5c piece of rubber costs so much to fix!

They came from a Mercedes dealer that sells parts online. Google those part numbers and I bet they will lead you somewhere you can get them.

Bet those clamps would have been $45 a piece "from the Mothership". 😜
So 6" of replacement fuel line > $180.
