Spear is like the most underrated weapon used for main characters in any video games. I’m glad my favourite game added the spear! I believe gow 2018 was the one who popularized norse games and hope the introduction of the spear will follow too to many future combat games!
They tried to make it similar to first battle theme after getting the blades, also they made it similar to Svartalfheim. Bear McCreary is proven a genius once again
@@BBP081 the Blades Of Chaos was Kratos digging up a past he was ashamed of, one that’s filled with violence, betrayal and bloodshed, all to protect his Son. The Draupnir on the other hand, was Kratos being reunited with his lineage, his honour as a Spartan Warrior and it can even be seen when Kratos uses the Draupnir in combat.

@@wiseguygr Nope. The Blades were made for Ares’ champion, his greatest warrior. It was already forged in the pits of tartarus long before Kratos. It was… “given” to Kratos, the chains seared onto his flesh as a permanent reminder to the deal he made with Ares. The Blades were never made for Kratos, but were made as a eternally bounding item to Ares. It was made for the greatest warrior / champion of Ares, and that could’ve been anyone if it weren’t Kratos (like a what if scenario)
What about Arms of Sparta? You can't deny that it was made for Kratos, because it was a gift from his Spartan worshipper. Most likely it was forged especially for the God of War.
@@CoolSaver The Arms of Sparta were made for every Spartan. When I meant that the Draupnir was made for Kratos, I meant it in a exclusively interpretation. The Arms of Sparta are basically what every spartan carries, it isn’t made exclusively for Kratos, it was made for him because he is a Spartan, a well known, legendary, and god of the spartans, but still. It’s not that exclusive if everyone had the same arms. A spear and a hoplite shield.
@@swiggityswoogity705 i dunno, it can fire infinite magical spears, seems special enough for me. Yes, we don't know for sure it was made for him, but it's a Spartan traditional magical weapon that was gifted to him from Spartans, i think it's safe to assume that it was crafted to please their God.
I don't even know how people even expected Mjolnir to be a usable weapon. Just because it's known? So the internal turmoil between his axe and hammer would remain? So Thrudr could be robbed of her ancestry? Come on. Draupnir, the abused treasure of the ungrateful king; the uncountenable adornment; the one whose true value is only expressed by persistence and grip on what counts. Instead of the spear/hammer/axe/twinblades that returns, the one who is ever-renewed. It's so cool
I don’t think anybody noticed this, but in the very beginning, there are hints to the vengeful spartan theme from the original God of War. It’s a tiny nod to the old games while keeping it fresh and new because this is the first weapon truly made for specially Kratos. Then you obviously have the new God of War Main theme infused with the svartelheim theme.
It boggles my mind that people can hate on something that is so sincerely, ridiculously epic as having stolen one of the only known Norse rings of power, one belonging directly to Odin, I mean this thing has existed for centuries in the sagas... and having a spear cast from it with the same powers as before. That has the ability to fell gods and self replicate with ease? And you wanted the smashy-sparky hammer that slew most of the Jotnar? I mean, Mjolnir is awesome in its own right in ways but I'll keep the spear, thanks.
we all wanted Mjolnir, but a spear with a red cloth symbolising Sparta , the origins of Kratos, that nostalgia feeling and playing while listening to this peace of art is something else.
I loved the moment you get the draupnir spear. With the blades, it is the ghost of his past. It is him confronting the monster that he became. Draupnir goes further. He was trained to be a Spartan hoplite. Stoic, laconic. Not screaming his rage at the heavens, quietly protecting his family, his home. May it be put down when its work is done
People who still wanted Mjölnir over Draupnir after this moment of the game don’t get the actual depth behind the spear and how it’s *Kratos’* actual weapon, more so than the blades. Forged with his blood, and made with the goal of stopping the god who will soon try to kill his son. Yes the Blades of Chaos may have been with Kratos since the beginning, but everyone knows how Kratos feels about them and how they were solely created as a symbol of the pledge he made to Ares. The Draupnir spear is created with everything that makes Kratos an admirable man, a good god, and a true leader. Kratos holds the motion of many spears by holding just one. He commands thousands, millions of Spartans with Draupnir.
I find it really mind boggling how this was nowhere to be found in the ost, one of the best tracks and one of the best moments in the series. Thanks for making it readily available.
I feel like Draupnir is the only mythical derived weapon of Kratos. Both Draupnir and Gungnir belonging to Odin in the Norse myths, but I'm Kratos has two Norse weapons opposing Thor and Odin.

Right. You use it correctly with the other weapon runic attacks and you're untouchable . Stun damage for days

Except instead of being haunted by his past it is much more uplifting. Though in both cases he is taking up the weapon to protect his son
