  • What is a CNC touch probe and why do you need one?
In this video, I'll go over why setting the X, Y, and Z zeros with a touch probe is more accurate than doing so manually. I use the OneFinity 3-Axis Touch Probe in my shop - it helps with creating a perfect carve every time.
If you're new to the channel, welcome! Many of the designs you see in my videos were designed by me and have been rigorously tested in CNC software. Unlike other designs you can buy and download off the web, I guarantee zero problems with my vectors. Have a look through my Etsy shop below!

It’s crooked because your flag is not set on your spoil board square that’s why we use grids, this happened to me, I’m trying to figure out why the prob is even necessary ive been able to prob z right off my piece it’s really just an extra step

I learned this recently and will be doing a grid on the next spoil board. Thanks for watching!

I don't understand why you need to set your xy axis on corner and not on center. Also why your x axis floted over on your flag stripe. Nice video. How do you like your Xfinity router? Thinking of getting one.

Onefinity not xfinity that's the cable guy

@@jefferytwilliams LOL at the cable guy comment! It's really a personal preference - I've tried setting the xy axis on the center and ended up with a crooked carve because my probe wasn't fully centered on both the x and y axis, thus the x axis floating issue. I'm still new at this so maybe there's a trick I'm missing? I love the Onefinity so far. Would highly recommend! Thanks for watching, my friend.

I bought a probe when i first bought my CNC i thought i was going to need it. some issues i had with probe. repeatability is not possible. if you use probe to set X and Y and you hit E-stop or have to power off and/or reset the X and Y with probe its not going to be in same spot. It will be close but its not going to be same spot. This error has costed me $$$$. I dropped the probe and just started doing everything manual. I have better chances of it coming out with out the probe then with. only time i use the probe now is when i do a bit change and just use it to set Z.

I liked the intro to your video, but it's a bit too long. Keep it up though, I hope you have many subs and many views.
