What a voice Michael Stephenson has!
ikr, I was listening this music as background music and got distracted just to check who's singing
Got a Donny Hathaway thing going on.
Michael can fuckin' sing!! Preach it!
Man this series is helping so much in difficult times
Happy Birthday Emmet! Love the Music! Love the Vibe!
It's wild to see how far Michael has come. He and I went to music camp together back at lil' ol' LVC in Central PA 14 or 15 years ago. He was a great player back then!

*Emmet Cohen, it’s our turn to celebrate you.* Receiving the outpourings & overtures may feel uncomfortable, but we know your heart is in the sound...not the noise.
*You’ve given us your craft, commitment, & consciousness...& our world feels more whole because of it.*
You vibe with the masters, create space for new blood, & somehow make room for a few thousand each week at the Harlem crib. *Our Mondays have been enshrined as a day of the week where the blues heal...not harm.*
Tonight, your inner-circle played lights out: *Russell Hall, Kyle Poole, Benny Benack III, Mike Stephenson, Bruce Harris, Mike Pilot, & Mr. Joe Farnsworth.* You’ve kept your jazz family swinging with the best...& we’re in your corner. -- *Happiest of birthdays EC*
Thank you for doing the track list
First song is actually 'Billy Boy.' The arrangement is [or is heavily inspired by] Ahmad Jamal's version
@@Meira_A Miss, This is , really, the red Garland version from the album Revisited! Not Jamal...Ciao from Italy
The trio performed this tune in the manner of their choosing - which, I feel, can be inspired by any number of artists ...❤️🙏🏽
Emmet seems to be on every other tune I hear on my local radio station. Yes, we have a real jazz station, KCSM radio at 91.1 FM in the SF bay area. Sometimes I'll hear this amazing piano solo and hear all these influences, McCoy Tyner, Bill Evans, Jaki Byard, Erroll Garner...and I think, jeeez., what a slouch.
You're so lucky! In Chicago, all we have is WDCB that plays crap jazz all day long. Guys pretending to play the real thing. Non-musical, ridiculous junk. Posers. Copycats. Never any good, real, straight-ahead jazz. This is great!
Russell reminds me of the very quite (possibly mute) character that always kicks ass and is the best part of the whole thing
Just Brilliant!! You Guys should do a world tour as a pick me up after this Pandemic. Best music/ jazz I've ever heard.....!!!!!!
I keep coming back to this one, had to go and learn to play/sing On the Trail and Street Where You Live - great songs and great musicians.
Is Emmet too young to be deemed a national treasure during Covid?
International Treasure!!!
No
Happy Birthday Emmet 🎂
The lonely goatherd quote at 2:06 goes so hard
Happy Birthday to one of the most brilliant jazz piano player of the moment!!!!
Magic
Bruce Harris for me is the trumpet discovery of the year. I can hear Lee Morgan, Clark Terry and Donald Byrd, but the mix is unique.
Emmet the Atmosphere and vibe you create is a credit to you and the guys. Big Happy Birthday. Just Sublime!!!!!!
On The Trail is so joyous and beautiful.
Happy Birthday, Emmet, and thanks a lot for all the wonderful music you bring into orbit. Couldn't and wouldn't live without it. Gives hope to difficult times.
Awesome gig!! Thank you Emmet for keeping the jazz music alive, especially at your place!! 😎🎺
Happy belated b.d. Emmet. Keep swingin'. Ron

This was one of my favorite sessions so far! Happy Birthday and please keep on doing this :)
Happy belated birthday Emmet from Cape Town, South Africa. Great music. I loved your interpretation of Billy Boy. I first listened to the version to a version my Red Garland and then by Ahmad Jamal. That was in 1982. Wow you bring back fond memories
Wonderlike jazz. Dankie vir die 1982 Jamal refrerence…… miss Jenny (music theory teacher midtown Manhattan) ….. gebore ‘n plaas Bethal, Transvaal…… many times inmate John Vorster Square early 70s……left SA as a political undesirable……. My bourgoisie family in the hills of Bel Aire subdidivisions sapping the lifeblood out of the evironment to create fake Itilian villa gardens with Mexican servants/ “garden boys”) ….. you get my drift…… please reply waneer jy die tyd vind……….respectfully, miss jenny (Felele…… my tuis/ plaas naam).

OMG Round Midnight. Emmet, I see Monk smiling from the ethers
Benny is a singer, a trumpet player, and a hype man.
Happy Belated Birthday Emmet!
Happy Birthday, you guys are great.
That plaintively lovely Tennessee Waltz. So exquisitely sung and played here……… ironic…..African American and Jewish music heritage ….. time to time to examine these damned so-called United States in these backward times? Thank you for sharing. Miss Jenny (music theory & history teacher). And “When a Man loves a Woman” is sublime……….. merci! dankie so veel! (Wish I had a Yiddish keyboard…… Emmet, Kyle and Russell have enriched my life…… a dank!)
Happy birthday Emmet!!! Thank you for uplifting all of our spirits during this difficult time!!!
Happy birthday Emmet!!!!
Happy birthday and so many thanks for making life better through the whole pandemic. Greetings from Denmark
Thank you for making this happen. All the best, Emmet
Incredible
Digging this trumpet player. Has a bit of a west coast vibe a little like the late Jack Sheldon.
Happy Birthday Emmet!!! Appreciate the amazing music.
Amazing playing Emmet and the band! Especially on billy boy👏
Génial. Keep on going!
Burning swing. Oscar Peterson would just _love_ this!

Happy Birthday from Scotland. Thanks for everything.
Thank you for thaï gréât birthday party! Home to havé you son in France....
Happy Birthday Emmet!
The sax solo over "when a man loves a women" gives me the vibes of ray charles playing the sax
The Indiana jones lick at 12:09 is killer!!
Happy Birthday Emmet... Thank you for your streammmmmmms

Happy Birthday Emmet from Greece

Muy bueno!!!!
Please get Mark Turner, Rich Perry, Walter Smith iii on the show please 🙏
С Днём рождения!))
I saw him on the pirate of Caribbean!
Love these cats
Russell Hall's so cold on that bass tho.
Fantastic session, Benny even more "hypo" than usual, which adds to wonderful atmosphere. Please Emmet, I have been waiting
to see Julian Lee for over a year now, any chance soon?
Dude-swang!
Shades of the great Red Garland
At 12:45 emmet player a lick on the piano and Benny used it right after
did Benack really just quote Jeopardy at 45:22
it's fucking great
I'm looking for a video of just the Tennessee Waltz
Very nice, yeah! I love the Peterson-tradition! Is this place where? In New York?
3:22 - Hoe Down (Oliver Nelson)
I would mix the bass down a notch or two if possible.
As they say in Jamaica "Turn the bass up"
+++++++++...........!!!!!!!!!!!!.............
Music is great. Love the sax player’s talent, but the histrionics of the trumpet player are unbearable...
Please Benny, stop advertising for vaccins and masks. It has nothing to do with jazz!
vaxxinated and happy? did he really say it? so sad.
chud
Happy Birthday Emmet!
