Whether your mom or any one of us thinks YOU should NOT be married is irrelevant. You do what is right for you and what makes you happy. So sorry your mom acted like she did not want to be there. Sometimes our parents know things that we can not see. It's them sometimes being protective or overly protective. I've had to learn a time or two in life by ignoring my mom's advice. But it happens to everyone.. you live and learn. And I'm not saying this is your case. I hope your mom will be happy for you two or is happy for you guys🙏🏿 She also seems shy. I think she'll loosen up when your dad is there 💕 I pray all goes great and you have a wonderful and Blessed Marriage 💕💕! Do y'all and don't worry about what anyone thinks☺️! You guys look happy, and your loving your best life! Mothers worry that there daughters aren’t ready to become wives and mothers. But you have to walk your own path, let the chips fall where they may. Parents who may have had failed relationships are afraid for there children to experience the same thing. But good or bad win or lose, it is your choice and you’re woman enough to stand on your decisions. Be blessed you guys, and have a wonderful wedding, and love.
I can tell you are so much more relaxed just in your conversation. When you both have babies together the family dynamics will change. It always does.
My mother reacted pretty much the same way when I married my Algerian husband (I’m English)now 30 years later and blessed with 5 children, it couldn’t be more different….my mother is in the final stages of Alzheimer’s, my husband and I are her full time carers, she absolutely adores him, time has shown her what I always knew to be true of him, that he is the most wonderful, caring genuine man and we are beyond blessed to have him in our life’s. Love and light to you darling, all will work out perfectly 🙏🏼

Dear Iyah, I must say this reminds me of my mother's reaction when my husband and I got together. There were varying reasons, that I didn't understand until later, why she reacted the way that she did. Nonetheless, it hurt me very deeply. What bothered me most was precious time that could have been shared was gone, lost. She was all I had, my only sister was deceased, and my mother and I were always so very close. What I am about to say, I say most humbly. Like you, and Rafal, my husband and I were a very strikingly handsome couple. Everywhere we went we drew attention. Men envied him, and women were jealous. Over all his family embraced me, but a few of his sister's (older, married multiple times), were very nasty. A dear friend of mind said to me once, that sometimes mothers can be very envious of their daughter's, and asked if I thought that could be it. And, at the time I said no. My mother was (still is at 90) very beautiful, she had a handsome husband, beautiful healthy children, a good life overall. I just couldn't imagine it, and she always wanted the best for me. It was true to some extent. And, I will just say that women are their own worst enemies, and can be very vicious and spiteful toward one another. I knew this at an early age, and have only a few dear life long women friends. So, here are a few tips: Keep your circle of women in your life very small, and make sure you are of a like mind, and presence. Most important, you are a woman now, not your mother's little girl. Protect what you have with Rafal, for what you have is sacred. And, trust me when I say - there will be people that will try to destroy what you and he have. I guarantee it! You belong to him now! Your place is always with him. Always. Make beautiful the home that he provides for you, and any children you may be blessed with. Be very careful what you share with others. Set the pace for your life as you and Rafal would have it, and the rest will follow. Or, not. You may have to say good bye to some folk, even family. And, that's okay too!!! Congratulations!!!

F.Y.I. My mother got cancer, and Alzheimer's. I told my husband she had to move in with us so I could care for her and he was fine with that. He loved and respected my mother, and I know she loved him too. Alone now, I continue to care for her. My husband and I were married 14 1/2 years until he died unexpectedly in 2015, and I miss him terribly. We loved each other deeply, and were never apart not one day in all those years. We laughed every day, ate our meals together, traveled, and prayed together. We were totally devoted to one another. Yours is the only couple channel I subscribe to because you bring a smile to my heart, you both are so refreshing, and you remind me so much of what I had with my husband. Thank you for sharing! I was very sad to see the mother’s reaction, I don’t know how long she’s known her daughters fiancé and if she’s even sat down and talked with her, does she know if her daughter is happy if she is do what you can to guide her and support her. In this case it’s hard to give advice if you don’t have the facts. My only prayer is that they are happy and will have a blessed life and family 🙏🏾🎚👍🏾💕
It's good to know I wasn't the only one to notice that. There's definitely a disconnect there & somehow I think it deepened after the Dr Phil fiasco. I think the groom-to-be is encouraging the separation. My opinion.

I pray that you two be together until death do you part. My husband was 25 years older than me and we stayed together for 30 years. We marked in 1979 and he passed away in 2010. I still miss him.

Iyah, I don't know, sometimes us mothers been down those roads, sometimes we see things before it happens, do make your own decisions BUT also listen to what your mother has to say,her wisdom. Always remember, she loves you more than anything... even when you're wrong, she'll be the only one standing right there by your side when everyone else is gone. She'll be telling the world about your accomplishments and how good of a girl you have always been. And quess what, this is a cold world (dog eat dog)... anything that can go wrong will go wrong and it's going to happen, your mom will be the first person come to mind..She will always have your back. Love her while she is still alive. She is the best friend you will ever have. Don't let anyone tell you different or interfere with that. Give her time to adjust to this new situation, she will get there. She only wants the best for you. Don't forget, you will always be her baby no matter what.

I think you guys are a little bit too hard on her mother...look her daughter his marrying a 42 year old polish guy most people never even heard of Poland at least she showed up! You guys have to give her her time to get used to the situation remember this is her frist child this is her frist motherly love we all adjust to situation differently so I really think you guys should take that into account however I do support this couple 100% if they're happy together we should be happy for them love doesn't see color or age

Dont worry you guys just remember its your day and anyone who acts out you dont have to allow it and must address it. I have that type of family also who acted out before the wedding day so I did something about it. I called each and every one of them and personally (nice tone) uninvited them; including brothers, sister, and Mom. They knew I would not allow it and they tried me anyway. They tried to trash me but it backfired. People told them they should be ashamed. They apologized to me. I had the best time on my day without them and then I accepted their apologizes. Just dont play into negativity, stand up to it. You will gain respect trust me. Make sure everyone know IT'S YALL'S DAY. Congrats again from Maywood IL.

With all due respect, to be honest, I see why Iyah’s mom is upset. I may be wrong (they may be saving money for kids college and stuff) but, judging from the venue, it’s obvious that Rafael doesn’t have much money. It’s enough to provide so that Iyah doesn’t have to work now but marrying an older man is a sacrifice- most likely he will die before you. He is getting the benefits of your youth and beauty years, he gets to be young again through you and you should be compensated for it. I’m not saying he has to be a millionaire, but at least making a surplus amount like Nikki o on UA-cam for example- UA-cam is her thing but they live very well even way before UA-cam and she didint have to work- it’s an exchange and Iyah is too young to understand that.I’m not judging Iyah because I don’t know what she went through growing up but someone dropped the ball- not judging parents either because parenting is hard but it’s sad to see. Love is not enough in a marriage. How about through hard times? You don’t know what the future may bring and having a husband who is older must at least have an adequate amount to spoil his younger wife and give the BEST prestigious life for his future kids with her because Iyah will never get her youth back- it just seems like an uneven exchange- LOvE is not enough!
