I can't be only one that thinks its absolutely ridiculous that you can't check the transmission fluid level like we have for the last 50 god damn years.
Just dropped the pan and let it sit for a night next morning put gasket and pan back on and changed both filters and added 8 quarts was that too much fluid ?
In reality if it would help anyone it would be better if you measured the length of the dipstick that way if somebody needed to check their flood level on the spot without buying a dipstick they could stick a thin piece of metal down in there to the right length and get a decent reading because going out and buying an aftermarket dipstick just isn't feasible of an on the spot check ...that's my opinion... I don't know why they done that in the first place I hate engineers they are about the goofiest people on the planet
I have a 2008 Dodge Caliber. I bought the same exact dipstick you have. I checked the fluid and it said 110. The chart says max level is 48, so isn't 110 too high? Or, am I supposed to convert the 110 millimeter to another number? I just bought the Caliber from a car lot and that's where they have the level.
So I just need to add a little fluid to my caliber.. (changed and axle and leaked fluid) how do I add fluid and does the car need to be at operating temp or can I add it while it's shut off?
I posted this video so that people would know to identify the amount of fluid in their CVT transmission prior to conducting a repair that would cause fluid to leak out. If you don't know how much fluid you started with, then you've already missed the first step in identifying how much you need to replace.
Well drain out the system, the caliber only holds 7.4 quarts of total fluid, so you'll wanna let the rest of the fluid out, then identify how much came out once you drained the fluid, whatever that number is put it back in, and keep filling it back up until you get to that level that you need. Optimal level with that dipstick is 36. Keep in mind to do all the proper steps to ensure you do it correctly. He is wrong about not being impossible, it onlu adds a couple extra steps. And if you ive fill it there's a drain bolt on the side of the transmission, use that to drain the amount of fluid necessary to get it to the proper level
Preferably do it off, and you can add the fluid through the same access point that he shows in the video. Thats not just for the dipstick use. That's for checking fluid level and adding fluid in.
You can't use that dipstick on that car because there is a restriction at the end of that fill tube. You just wasted your money buying that piece of garbage.
I always thought it was funny how so many manufactured are trying to do the "Dealership only" They must forgot at some point these cars become "old" and adventually do not go to Dealershits anymore.

There all playing high stakes cheat game on the people.
It would be fantastic if you'd left a link to the chart
Thank you for this. As I just got a Dodge caliber.
40-60 on dipstick
It would be REALLY NICE if you just show tell us what the MEASUREMENT IN MM WAS Holy fucking hell
Between 40-60
Haha, I just came from that video !
you could just get a long wire fold the end so its not pointy. But that's just for checking color not level I guess.
Just dropped the pan and let it sit for a night next morning put gasket and pan back on and changed both filters and added 8 quarts was that too much fluid ?
are you able to make a video on how to replace clutch slave cylinder of 2008 dodge caliber? please

You can just use the engine oil dipstick. Same thing, same reading.
Was wondering that
I don’t think I wanna mix those two fluids
@@XX-166 wipe it off dipstick
Dewayne Roland wipe it off youself dipshit
Its not marked correctly to get a proper level.
Does 2010 have this, because there is an empty space there on my caliber, and no transmission tube?
VERY helpful. thank you.
My 2011 caliber does not have a transmission tube. How can I check it?
Get a aftermarket dip stick shows u in viedo , bought on line rock auto
Go to the under side of the tranny driver side and there’s a plug
Remove plug on a level surface and it should be to the top but not spilling out
Plug 10 mil Allen key. Drivers side of engine.
How do you add the transition fluidas ?
The fluid is funneled into that fill tube.
VERY HELPFUL MAN!!!
Thanks was very helpful 👍
Run it through the gears? It's a CVT, it doesn't have gears. Does putting it in L instead of D actually do anything if you aren't moving?
Obviously he ment shift it through gears......
@@tiredofthelies303 - Again, it's a CVT. It doesn't have gears.
@@dustintunis9347 PRNDL....thats the gears...just shift it thru a couple of times and dont worry about proper wording. Geez!!
What is the quality of the 2008 Dodge Caliber Cvt gear oil?
WOULD BE ABLE TO TELL ME WHAT IS THE TRANSMISSION CVT FLUID CAPACITY I CANT FIND IT ANYWHERE
Did you ever find out?
7.4 quarts of total fluid
And if you're just doing a change
Be prepared to have about 6 quarts worth of fluid
Oriellys

Use Oil dipstick same reading as oil level
Where can I get that print out to find out what the min and max level are? Great video and great help
Francisco arias ...
It comes with the dipstick I purchased from Advance Auto Parts.
@@digitusimpudicus2325 can you tell us what the fluid level should be at least?
that print out comes with the stick,i order one and it was in there
40-60
There's also an overclock above the pan you can just unscrew while running and fill to brim
Jonathan Bradley ...
That's the old way to do it. These transmissions (CVT) will not function with the incorrect amount of fluid, + or - .
thank you!
Oct 2021: About $21.99 for the dipstick at stores, unless using Amazon. Getting ready to send our '09 Caliber to transmission heaven. :(
I just saw thay video and yea i was pissed

I just had the same problem, what is cvt fluid anyways and where can I get it?
@@djpalos81 ... Sorry, but if you have to ask, I don't think you should attempt this on your own.

I read somewhere that I can only use mopar fluid, is that true?
Yes
Hi where is the tcm located in a dodge caliber sxt 2007

You should post the link in the description
also the best tip is don't get a car with a cvt! I had one and I hated it so much.
The only vehicles you should buy with a cvt is Honda or Toyota
Dodge caliber has been the worst car I have ever owned.
agreed im starting to hate mine
I thought the same but actually if you maintain it properly you should have no problems
Is it just mine or is the engine super wimpy. Like zero torque and putters like a disabled person. Also the suspension is a god damn bounce house.
Lmfao ^^^ I’ve had mine since I graduated high school in 06’ and it overheats on me every once in a while.
I have 230,000 tough miles on mine and have had no issues except regular wear and tear. Find a honest local mechanic that you trust....
