There's also the Kandisi Station, which is a walking distance from where I live but nearly two kilometers from the main road. It may make sense in the future but right now it is seriously underutilized.
I believe the SGR was designed to serve the nation for the next century. That station, though currently underused, will ultimately benefit your grandchildren.
African historian you did not interview Kenya Railways on this Story, a huge opportunity missed to enrich the story, but all the same you tried to do a good story unlike Githeri Media.
To improve the narrative from the first video about the construction from Karen Ngong, MGR you should have made an effort to interview KR management and hear their perspective.why mgr why not an SGR line ?! This would have provided a more balanced view and helped us connect the dots, especially with the so-called "white elephant" Ngong SGR station. In my opinion, the potential of this project will only be fully realized once the railway extends to the border with Uganda.
The SGR stations is a testament to poor government planning. Ngong is not even the worst, the station at Maai mahiu is like 20 km from the town. The roads are more like footpaths. The situation at Ongata Rongai is similar to Ngong. If these stations had tarmacked roads there would be demand because matatus would find their way there. The commuter rail to ngong kiserian is not really necessary because the potential of the current infrastructure has not even been scratched.
SGR Ngong station serves an entirely different purpose. Once the SGR reaches kisumu that when full utilization will happen for cross country travel. The MGR construction happening in Karen is to serve daily Nairobi commuters. This Mzungu has taken you on a journey for no reason.
Very true another thing is Governor Ole Lenku is sleeping with Road infrastructure its in his government that he should open up access roads to the station, widen them and have them tarmacked to spur economic activity around these facilities.
shida yako ni kuona mzungu akili inapooza the entire SGR was a mega looting endeavour that has taken food from the mouths of generations of Kenyans to come it is simply unviable if you have been following recent events, you have heard that KRC defaulted on its repayments to the Chinese government for the cost of construction that means extending it to Kisumu won't cure anything you cannot generate profits from a venture that was not designed to draw human traffic or cargo volumes onto the trains when Jubilee came into power from 2013, the project was altered from an upgrade of the MGR to a completely new (and exponentially more expensive) railway line that offered zero last-mile connectivity for cargo, and a costly, poorly integrated passenger service that requires people to leave the CBD in both Nairobi (Syokimau) and Mombasa (Miritini) in order to board their respective trains it's therefore no surprise that the Ngong station is in the middle of nowhere hii SGR yote ilikuwa ya Uhuru na Ruto kujirudishia pesa za campaign na kesi za ICC
@KenyanHistorian all these interior sgr stations they usually receive less traffic coz people haven't empressed it that well , the passengers train is usually full as you sometimes there are no seats when you book from ngong, but let's be honest not many people work near syokimau area so that it can have loads of passengers , Suswa is just a desert the only thing people go there is to experience the train ride, not many factories in ngong that we can say people are shunning away from using the SGR, Roads are bad that can't denie

That mzungu is a real Kenyan. Period
That's where they should be building residential houses not adding population to Nairobi
Urban sprawl.
I never saw this on national TV
Take us to Kitisuru or Runda now. We need your take on these two affluent neighborhoods
I believe the SGR was designed to serve the nation for the next century. That station, though currently underused, will ultimately benefit your grandchildren.
Any building that is not used actively tends to not be maintained actively.. within a few years that place will be totally destroyed

The place is called Oloolua next to the forest

Train stations shouldn't matter whether it's MGR SGR or roads. Importantly, they should be interlinked not separate

I never knew SGR Kenya is this White elephant project!
I cannot believe this
I love land rover defenders they are the best off-road machines 💪💪💪💪

A station difficult to access and that goes nowhere.
The real historian❤❤
Hapa ni embulbul?
Ollolua kwa ngong forest
Show some ❤
i dont get why they only do one railway truck and not two
Money
Greed. The money for the second line is in someone’s pockets
It's all stress to go there by foot
Sema money laundering projects
Thats a lie the SGR is busy
Unless the word busy changed meaning. And we talking about SGR Ngong station and not SGR in its entirety…
