Sega Sound Studio was just AWESOME. Seriously 99% of the song released on there 90's driving games were just outstanding. Sega were a force to be reckoned with in the Arcade. Greatest ever Arcade games maker.
***** No there not, there NOWHERE near the quality of Sega. Sega are Barcelona or Real Madrid and Namco or Crapcom are like some sort of Sunday League team.
The audio is from the Saturn version. The arcade sounds completely different because the whole soundtrack had to be synthesized. But it still sounds great.
@@melficexd i call N O i still play for fun m8 now tell me what is better? A fun game with 4 tracks and 3 cars or a broken game with 6373 tracks and 7473847 cars?
When the synth kicks in at the end.. goosebumps shot up my arm! the memories of slowly standing up as you near the finish line cause it was too intense to sit down!
Sega musicians were very inspired in the Sega CD/Saturn/Dreamcast days. Not matter if the games were good or bad, you can always count with great songs from them.
I've long lost the need to listen to music at insane decibels, 'cause I'm 33. But this shit still makes me wanna headbang at high volumes as if the world was ending tomorrow.
thanks Takenobu Mitsuyoshi for the YEARS of musical inspiration from a PC CD-ROM game! Wow, this really influenced my playing drums, guitar, keys and bass!
i love the style of japanese guitarists, i really do. i started guitar playing because of riffs like those in this song and similar. if you want to listen to other music of this style, although it´s more metal/rock than synth-rock, try out the soundtrack for the FIRST need for speed. (try to compare the overall feeling to the newer parts of that game ;) btw, i learned to play most of this. maybe i´ll make a vid someday.. ^^
I got this game at a swap meet last month and when i play this game i use my swivel chair to imitate the jumping of the rally car! And last month was the 15th anniversary of the Saturn launching in Australia(Mine has round buttons, the first ones released had oval buttons)!
I’m here because I first played this game the day it launched on Sega Saturn ... and I still play it to this day because it’s the best home racing arcade game in my opinion. The soundtrack on Saturn is legendary.
What the Sega Saturn did that was so cool was that it separated game data from music track on most of the games (on Robotica, a Japanese voice told me to fuck off) and you can listen to them on a CD player or record the OST to your compy just like *that*! I've only had one game on PS1 that could do that (SotN) and none on the 64 (duh!).
@dungeonofperil I agree, the first time I heard Fuel I thought of Sega Rally. I like to let people listen to the intro of Fuel then this, just to see their reactions.
@LarryBundyJr I agree, but I think some technical issues would not allow the arcade version to be anywhere near this level of perfection. As far as I can tell, it was a much cheaper CD (Saturn) "versus" ROM (arcade). I was wondering why the arcade version had a lower volume...=P
Even though people bash on the STC remix, I rather enjoy it. Not as epic as this, but remember, both games had set genres of music. Rally was high energy rock, where as STC was high energy dance.
Looks like we got ourselves an old-fashioned *SEGA RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP*

Barry wallace Sega best of the best .
the only good song on ridge racer was like the first song but the rest were weird and didnt seem to fit

I wish racing games were like this again.
Short, simple and intense? Hardly reasonable according to today's standards, you don't play for fun, but to consume content.
I love the old Sega racing game aesthetic.
But we have Forza in today

Main riff reminds me of “Caught In A Mosh” by Anthrax.
Reminds me more of Fuel by Metallica tbh.

One of the best tracks ever created for a game.
"Gimme fuel, gimme fire
Gimme that which I desire, ooh!"
Still have the original copy. Best rally game ever.
This is like the "At Doom's Gate" for racing games LOL
Just bought a Celica gt4. First song to drive too is this. Life is good
Damn this music takes me back, I miss my Sega Saturn.
my still runing when other systems stop working!! :)
(dreamcast, ps2)
This sounds like an AC/DC recording session where Joe Satriani broke the door down and butted in xD
The ending of the song surprised the hell out of me. I got hype when I heard it for the first time in free run mode
From 3:44 it takes this track to another level.
Goose bumps!!! Awesome!!
Man, those drums sound like they were ripped straight from a Motorhead album.
I would love to score an 80's influenced action flick with this as an action theme. Loved it as a kid and even now it is goddamn awesome
Takayuki Hijikata play the guitar Here, he re-arranged all OST in real instruments, check the album Ignition
played the game with 12 years with a friend beating each others time trials. good times. bought a Celica T20 at 21 :D
I can feel you! :D
Sega is never consistent with their games series but man their music, always blown away.
Holy shit! First time hearing this and it's already my favorite!
lolz
This logo makes me hungry for pizza and I don’t know why.
Because it looks like Brackley's very own Direct Pizza Company logo.

I love this song, brings me back memories of my Childhood, sounds a bit like The Used in some parts.
awesome, i still have the CD at home. Remember listening this back in '98 in my Subaru WRX
Awesome

Playing free run time attack mode with this track on is so intense! I'm sure that I make my best times when the song gets to its final crescendo.
this song invokes a feeling that can only be described as: haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!

Sorry if I was confusing anyone. The song's name is "Conditioned Reflex" for the Desert Track. I rushed what I was trying to say
Sega Saturn wheel, best wheel.
For some reason I always remember the title theme and one of the replay tunes better.
Very long easy right

I actually prefer the Arcade version's entire soundtrack. Great MIDIs will always be great MIDIs. Especially on the hi-end synthesizer chips.
Honestly, same here. These are great arrangements but the Arcade mixes just have an unbeatable vibe of fun for me.
Word, I really liked the weird prog rock keyboards in the arcade version. These are great too, though.
Man I forgot this track, its so awesome! :D
Maximllian Dood and Sega Saturn Saturdays urged me to find this track.
also they're bringing back the safari rally that will happen in july
