    Wow, I suffered an episode of SVT back in June 2012 but my heart did not reach
    240 to 300 bpm like some others have experienced. Having said that, it was still a
    pretty scary event. I had been shopping for my mother, when I felt a bang in my
    chest then my heart began to race. This occurred around 10.00am but by 6.00pm
    it was rising to over 150 plus bpm. Paramedics were called out, and after an ECG
    I was taken to hospital. After a blood test, I was given Meteprolol and hooked up
    overnight on an ECG monitor, which brought it back under control. I am constantly
    living in fear that it will happen again. I have been on Propranolol for a fast and
    erratic heart rate for 25 years or so now, which is for an anxiety state that I have.

    I had SVT when I was around 14-15 yrs old. The first time I had an episode was during track practice and I didn’t know what was going on. I soon went to the cardiologist and got diagnosed with SVT. I had a heart monitor for almost 4 months, and every time I had an episode the monitor died on me🤦🏽‍♀️
    I was afraid to do anything like jump, run, or even laugh (yes, me laughing caused an episode). I had a hard time keeping up with my sports and activities. Overall, I was pretty down. Thankfully, I caught an episode and my heart was 290 bpm and rising. Some might be afraid but I was happier than ever to finally have caught it. It was a fun time riding in the ambulance and when they administered Adenosine - I was high out of my mind because of it 😂
    I got an cardiac ablation soon after in the summer and went into freshman year of high school happier than ever. Later in track and field I went on to compete in state qualifiers for sprints, I wouldn’t never have done that if it weren’t for my wonderful doctors and the surgeon 🙏

    I've been diagnosed with regular VT, but the way my doctor explained how my heart works is similar to this. For anyone who has been recently diagnosed, It's important to know that as long as you get regular cardiologist checkups and medication, it CAN get better. It may take a while to find the right meds and dosage, but it will be okay. I've been struggling for 2 years and now everything is okay on my meds. And im only 16, so I hope that gives you hope

Earlier this month (July) I had one but I don't know what my heart rate was (it was to fast to count) my vision was changing, my chest was heavy, my arm was numb, and i felt like i was gonna pass out. I just barely got myself out of it as my family and I walked into the ER. I have to admit it was pretty scary.

    Hi, one of the ways, but doesn't work for everyone is called a valsalva maneuver. What you are trying to do is 'stimulate the nerve that slows it down'. Hold your breath, and act like you're trying to take a dump. Another one is to apply gently pressure at the carotid sinus (where you take your pulse in your neck, but just a tad bit higher) and do something called a carotid massage. Both of these concepts are kind of the same. Doesn't work for everyone, but give it a try.

    • @compound00
      @compound00 3 роки тому

      Heard these methods when I was a kid. None have worked. Sometimes an abrupt cought will make me jump.out of Svt mode if I do it when it first starts. If not then it wont work at all. Episodes can last 10 hours or longer sometimes if I dont go to the E.R.. new procedure, blow through a syringe till it pushes all the way out. Do this 5 times back to back then lay back and have someone lift your legs towards your head, knees bent. You will convert out of svt immediately. Its an amazing maneuver. They've done this on me twice now and worked both times with no problem instantly. Some Dr.s know this maneuver some dont. Usually the younger Dr.s know it already.

Last time it happened, I was playing basketball I jumped and bumped my chest to my friend and my heart starting going fast, and then the school called the ambulance and I had to get a IV shot and a injections, god I hated the injections they inject me so my heart can stop for a few seconds. I had to take about 5 of those, anyway it lasted for about 3-4 hours, 220 BPH. But I got heart surgery, and I'm doing fine :D

      No the Surgery does NOT mean it will NEVER come back. I have heard it does go away forever for most people, but that is not guaranteed. I am 29 years old and just got diagnosed with SVT for the second time. The first time I was 16 and had an Ablation then too.... Now it is back.
      First time I was up to 235, I just got my results for my second diagnosis and I hit 249 and 24 in the same day... No I did not miss a digit... my heart rate went to 24 BPM the same 24 period as it hit 249 bmp... and at 29 it is not ever supposed to go past 190... SOOOooo yea, i am worried to say the least.

    I get the symptoms except from fainting (but I do feel faint) when I have and episode and mine can last from either 10 minutes to 5 hours. It happens at my dance classes and has been happening for years but I just thought it was because I was growing and I was young so I carried on exercising when I had an episode which has made them more frequent and last longer over the years. After 4 years and when it become very bad, I told my parents and they said it wasn’t normal and I was taken to the hospital. I’m going to a different one in 3 months and getting a treadmill test and 24 hour ECG because they did tests on my resting heart rate which was all normal except for the ECG so they want me to have an episode so they can record it. They think that this is what I have but they are not 100% sure and I’m currently doing hardly any exercise. For my first visit to the hospital, I was told to do no exercise except walking, so I walked my dogs a lot. But, it made myself have episodes when I was resting so I told my hospital this and I’m exercising again and keep exercising through episodes but that’s just the type of person I am, like I’ll just go through it and not let it control my actions, which is not good for my health at all

  • @compound00
    @compound00 3 роки тому

    Im Glad im not alone in this but hate that others go through this as well. I was 10 yo when I had my most young memorable episode. I say memorable because I believe it happened as well when I was 8yo but I was too young to know any better, but at 10yo, I climbed on top of the washing machine to get something for my mom off a high shelf. When I jumped down, all hell broke loose in my chest. I felt a bang and my heart took off like a race horse. I immediately dropped to my knees grasping my chest knowing something was very wrong, very. My mom and my aunt jumped up screaming "whats wrong"??? Running to me. I dont know who was more terrified, them or me. I told them my heart. Its beating wrong. They rushed me to the E.R. and the rest is history. Ive had maybe 20 episodes in my life. Some stopped on there own, some stopped by my abruptly coughing or dropping suddenly to my knees. Which look silly if anyone you dont know is watching you. Some episodes led me to the E.R. where the administered and drug through my I.V. which temporarily pauses the heart to get it out of SVT mode. Scary stuff. Feels funny. My most recent episode was two weeks ago, I was at work and just standing there. No sudden movement or anything and bam. A thump in my chest and my heart started beating sporadically all over the place. Worst than at any other time. This happens while on Metropalol and losartan blood pressure medicine. I raced to the E.R. and they first said it wasn't svt and gave me more Metropalol. I told them same feeling I got all my life when in Svt. It has to be svt. But because my heart rate didnt take off as fast as it usually did like 250 or so, they were confused I was only at 100 bpm. But still fluttering and palpitating. I told them about a procedure once tried on me where I blow through the hole of a syringe as hard as I can until it pushes out 3 or 4 times, then lay back while they lift my legs above my head. I immediately converted out of SVT mode. The doctor hesitated to do it at first as he was older and never heard of this maneuver. He went out into the hall and found a younger doctor, asked him if hed ever heard of it and he responded absolutely. They both grabbed a leg each after blowing through the syringe and magic. Right out of SVT. The older Dr. Was absolutely amazed. He kept looking and the Heart Monitor while I was converting from Svt saying "Wow, look at that" " this procedure is amazing". I was out of the E.R. within 30 minutes of this. Im so scared of it occurring again. Its scary, frustrating and stressful. I want the Ablation but my Cardiologist says no, saying their could be risks and its not worth the risk saying it may not even work. Just stay away from caffeine, chocolate, smoking etc. ...😥 I feel like a prisoner in my own body. I want the Ablation if it will fix this. Sorry for being long winded here.

      Well, if you stop poisoning yourself with refined sugars and carbohydrates it just might never happen again.
      I used to drink 6 glasses of water every day.. Now having quit all refined sugars/carbs I don't even drink water anymore. I get all my water from vegetables and fruit. Only on days that I don't eat enough veg, will I be thirsty. Usually when I'm thirsty I eat more veg. Right now, I legitimately have not drunk any water in at last 3-4 days. Probably a week.
      If you are thirsty it means you need magnesium and potassium ++(minerals). You get all those from veg/fruit.
      Sugars and Carbs don't have any magnesium / potassium THUS for your body to metabolize sugar it TAKES from your reserves (which are stored inside your blood cells)
      When you run out of those reserves(potassium, magnesium..) that's when you get SVT. Water should be enough to fix it quick, *BUT* tap water or even bottle water has NO minerals in it. (magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium...) So try eating vegetables instead. It certainly wont last for hours if you do that. But it may take a while for your body to extract the potassium/magnesium from the veg/fruit. It can't happen instantly.
      But you can *prevent* SVT from happening by quitting refined sugars/carbs and eating a big salad every day.
      Don't believe me, just try it for a month... Unlike the doctors you've listened to, I'm not asking for money on meds and $5K for surgery.

      Simply said.. this isn't a diet.. this is just removing the slow poisons while focusing on eating nutrient dense foods that actually nourish the human body. Our bodies have nutritional requirements. This way of eating meets 100%+ of requirements. This is THE human diet.
      All of modern disease including SVT are all the symptoms of the root problem.. *malnutrition*.

      Also.. apparently many water bottles do* have minerals in them.. But you should always check to see in the labels.. In my country they all seem to have minerals, and tab water isn't _that_ bad here.. But I've heard that's not the case in the US..

    At 240 bpm the only symptom I had was palpitations. I had no pain whatsoever and they were just hooking me up to an EKG when it stopped. The beta blocker I was on sucked because it reduced my resting heart rate to around seventy when it is normally around one hundred. It made me feel like I had almost no energy for the two months that I took it. The only thing about the whole affair that was positive, besides when I stopped taking the medication, was the fact that the nurse's aid was really attractive and she was no help in calming my heart rate. I'm 17 btw.

    • @benstekar
      @benstekar 8 років тому +1

      Yes. I had my surgery in October, just before my eighteenth birthday. I was out for a few hours while they went in through the blood vessels in my legs for an arthroscopic cryoablation. They kept me overnight and I went back to school the next day. No scars or aftereffects. I was running the next week.
      You've probably been told about the procedure when you talked to your doctor, but they basically went in and burned out the misfiring nerve. They used the cryo because it was near one of my nodes. I forget which one it was.
      I hope I helped a little, and good luck with your treatment.

    How long did the symptom sustained and if it is suddenly onset and suddenly terminated? I think you should take ECG examination when you are suffering tachycardia. If it can not be catched by regular ECG, and if you have these symptom everyday, you can take Holter ECG to find out what kind of tachycardia it is. Also there are not very few pregnant women have such symptom like palpitation and feeling of tachycardia, but they seldomly are SVT, and, the most common reason is sinus tachycardia.

Its like all the blood rushes from my head, then within about 10 seconds my hearts racing like i ran a mile. One time after i was shaking and bursts of dizziness were happening. Also get heart flutter feeling daily. They dont hurt, they just feel weird. Like i can feel my heart beating.

      Yes ive been as high as 280 bpm but my most recent attack I had 100 bpm. The doctors were confused on if I was in SVT mode because my heart wasnt racing as fast as 200 or more bpms. I reassured them that Im a veteran at SVT attacks. Been having them since I was 10yo. Im now 44yo. I know what it feels like and this is Svt. I was right. Svt at 100 bpm. Mine was probably slower because im already on Metropalol which slows heart rate and losartan for blood pressure. I think this is why my svt was only at 100 bpm.
