Fantastic explanation by a true teacher Dr. Fazal Sir... Salam saheb... I understood it because I am SVT patient who underwent DC electrocardioversion in the year 2007. Prior to that I underwent CMV in the year 1994. I am now 66 yrs of age.
I have watched this vedio after had attended a patient with SVT.u were clear and made it easy to understand.thank you for helping us to learn more and more.
For 5 years, i was misdiagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder. I kept telling the doctors something was wrong with my heart. They didnt believe me. Since it was left untreated, in having more episodes and much longer episodes. Finally a new cardiologist diagnosed SVT.
@@ronnasurmon1656 they first prescribed Dialtezem. It brought my blood pressure through the roof so I had a bad reaction to it. Then they switched me to metoprolol and the same thing happened, super high blood pressure and I felt totally out of it on that Med too. They took me off of the meds and they are talking about doing an ablation. However I have been doing tons of research and so far I have taken all caffeine out of my diet, including chocolate or anything with caffeine. If you research foods that trigger SVT it is very helpful so you know how to rearrange your diet and things you can add in to help prevent attacks. There are also different maneuvers you can do to try to stop the attack, one is putting very cold water or preferably ice on your face for at least 15 seconds and taking it off and then putting it back on for another 15 seconds. Start searching here on UA-cam for Maneuvers to stop SVT. I just got off of the metoprolol yesterday after three days in a row going to the emergency room for symptoms and side effects
@@sirmachi7061 tried dialtezem, then metropolol tartrate. Both were horrible for me. I had to stop taking them. Side effects of both medications were horrible for me. Now I'm just winging it. If I have super fast heart rate, I put a bunch of ice with water in a baggie and out it on my face, from forehead to upper lip. I leave it on 15 seconds crate it off 15 seconds, and repeat. It usually calms the heart. My resting pulse as soon as I get up is over 100, I just pray and try to stay calm until it comes down. Medical system in Illinois is a big joke! EP dr ordered an MRI of my heart, to see if there's any scarring that could be causing my issues. Not sure what husband will be, if there is scarring. Took all caffeine out of diet and found sugar also triggers my heart rate to go fast. So trying to not eat candy, donuts. Etc. Change of diet seemed to calm it down a but, too. Less salt.
Great video and explanation. About the very best I have seen, and so helpful for AF/SVT sufferers like myself who want to learn more. BTW, if you're new to the subject, these things won't kill you. It's many weeks of this, unabated, that begins to cause heart failure. In the meantime, you will have presented to an ER or to a cardiologist and been treated appropriately. One tip: if your SVT doesn't correct inside of 24 hours, get yourself to the ER. Do not delay after 24 hours.
Effective ... even a high school student can follow and understand. Makes complex medical phenomenon easy to make sense of and comprehend. You have the art nd skill to teach the discipline of cardiology par-excellance
Thanks for this information. The MULLER MANEUVER, which is trying to INHALE rather than PUSH against a blocked airway (the Valsalva maneuver), works far better for me. Over 40 years and many SVT episodes, I used to always try the Valsalva maneuver and it often didn't work - I had to go to the ER several times and get Adenosine. But several years ago I discovered the Muller maneuver and it works every time (sometimes I have to do it more than once). It's a weird feeling to lower your intrathoracic pressure, but it's worth the discomfort. Hope this helps someone!
I'm trying to avoid medicine. Inhaling or holding my breath makes me feel dizzy where I nearly pass out. Do you just inhale deep and breathe, or for you hold your breath?
Very well explained Dr. I am from Himachal and I was suffering from SVT for 10 years , every time I went to hospital Dr gave me gastric injection, sometimes said it's a panic attack etc etc gave me too many strips of medicines. Fortunately, Finally in Kerala one gentleman cardiologist Dr K.Suresh from SK hospital, trivendram found that it is SVT and now I only take one tab. God bless Dr K.Suresh cardiologist 🙏🏻
Thankyou so much I have just been diagnosed age 63 ...but have been somewhat anxious my entire life ... The Expert cardiologist I saw in NZ said I may have been born like this but only picked up as it's worsened and I have now these symptoms physically. My first collapse was six days after the second COVID shot ...the Professor I saw said there has been much more of these problems since a bout of Covid last year. Please do you have an opinion on this phenomenon . I didnt have physical problems like this before 🙏
Very informative. Just a couple of things. When you mention sedation it would be helpful if you explain whether you use propofol or merely fentanyl and midazolam, which would definitely be a Knogo in my case. Secondly., it would be helpful as well as compassionate to mention how the patient will feel and react to adenosine. Thank you
Watching ur video afer giving 6 mg and 12 mg adenosine to a patient. Before adenosine. Rate was 220 , regular, p wave absent and after adenosine..rate became 100.. mission successful
I was one of those patients that did not respond to any measures that they tried to bring down my heart rate. In February this year, nothing would bring the heart rate from 237 bpm. I told them that previously (2020) had to be on diltiazem, metropolol and digoxin until cardiac ablation could be performed months later (during Covid restrictions). I am wearing a holter monitor now for 2 weeks and my own cardiologist will follow up.
Dear Dr you are contributing to the significant illness for the patients upto the mark. I hv one patient and want to get an appointment from you, so pl guide me, I shall be obliged...
Thanks for such a great and detailed video. My wife diagnosed with PSVT on 19th October and then doctor given Antiarrhythmic in IV. They did not apply any kind of vagal maneuvers or Valsalva maneuvers. If next time it happens can i do these all maneuvers at home and if it do not control then visit to hospital? if this Catheter ablation safe? how much risk of life have in this operation. Can you suggest best hospital or doctor in india
Mithi Das, different mechanisms of this polyuria have been proposed. They include increased release of Atrial Natriuretic peptide from heart and inhibition of ADH release. Urine output in SVT patient can increase upto 10 times the normal.
