Watching Peyton, Eli talk football with Ray and Russell was incredible to watch.
Also Eli having 2 superbowl rings against the goat while being totally emotionless is the biggest flex of all time

The fact that Eli has the same number of super bowl rings as Peyton Manning is just perfection. Two very different careers but at the end of the day both will have the same number of rings and both will be in the Hall of Fame.

The truth is that I don’t think I’m speaking only for myself when I say the real reason we want to hear an athlete do color commentary is because we want to know what it would be like to 1) watch the game with a great player 2) want to know what it feels like to be a player In the game and learn insider info.

There’s a lot of us out there that would simply turn off the regular network commentary if given the option. This was definitely needed. People just want to relax and be entertained at the end of the day, and not feel like we’re getting ready for a statistic class/lecture. The dry analytical corporate approach isn’t cutting it anymore, and why we’re seeing this unfold. Be real and we’ll be there to watch.

For everyone who jokes about Twitch and streaming, kids “watching others play video games”, this was pretty much the same thing. You are watching this stream for both the content of what is in the background (in this case the football game) while enjoying the commentary or antics or *fill in the blank here* that their favorite streamers do that makes them enjoyable to that individual. How many of you wouldn’t get a Twitch account if Peyton and Eli decided to start their own channel and do this stuff along with breaking down film etc? Truth is a lot of people would because it would be very entertaining, you would learn, laugh and get to watch football and learn about the game you love and have been watching or playing your entire life.

Local Radio host nailed it. If it is two teams you are not vested in, it feels a way better way to watch it. If it is my team, I am choosing play by play every time. I compare it to the draft watch party you hosted. If it is slow or your team is not up, it was way better.

Rich Eisen, the guys takes five minutes to say 20 seconds of insight. This is why the Manning brothers where such a delight to watch. Everyone is sick of the professional talking heads.

I think this is the Romo effect that people who have been watching for years want more nuance. I know what cover 2 is, I know what cover 0 is, my cousin doesn't because he likes baseball. I will solo much more enjoy a detail game, but if im at a bar with my cousin, I want him to enjoy it so we watch again.

It's not the future, it's a niche.. Some people prefer the format you seem to enjoy and others prefer the standard method that has been used since the inception of televised or broadcasting sports.. It's a preference.. Not knocking either..

@@davidmata4786 you’re right it’s not the future, it’s the present! If it didn’t bring eyeballs the world wide leader would NOT be paying the Manning’s to do it. All I’m saying is ESPN recognizes what these other companies are doing and how they’re taking away viewers. Joe Rogan’s Fight Companions were pulling in gigantic numbers and was most likely told not to do as many because he is competing with his bosses bosses.

I've always wondered why 1. the standard camera angle isn't from behind QB and 2. why we don't get more "coach film room" broadcasts. I don't need broadcasters to tell me obvious things, I want them to teach me the details of the game.
