James stumbled across your video and you remind me of my own years in aviation maintaining and repairing light aircraft, you are young and keen and have a nice knack explaining these basic aircraft maintenance tasks, subscribed sir !
Great video, thanks! We're having our Glastar annual done tomorrow and I learn a bit more about what's done during an annual every year. Keep up the great videos, and I love a mix of the GA and PC-12 stuff. :-)
great video man. I like how you explain what you're doing before you do it just to make sure we're all on the same page. feel like I'm learning a lot keep up the vids man!
I love these videos on the GA crafts. Awesome mate keep them up, wold be good to see lots of videos on all the aspects of the annual maintenance and all the rest of it!
I enjoy videos like these. I am interested myself in the Annual and 100 Hour inspection processes. Thank you for uploading this and I look forward to your next video of the Airframe.
I think your videos are great I'm in school now to be an a and p I have about five months be for o and p test but you give me a better understanding of not only the airframe but the powerplant as well
James I have been flying my cub for over 27 years in Alaska. Never worry about nothing as I had a very good mechanic but now that he is gone, I have been watching your videos, what a learning curb. I remember him lecturing me after every inspection with the same details that you are referring to. Obviously I am pretty much interested in the Super Cub video. Thank you for the details Really. MJB
I'd like to see more of this servicing and other tech STUFFF...LOL Good video and had me following insistently...Please keep posting more like this and you'll make an Ol' Man happy and occupied.
Great job James, thank you for sharing your knowledge. I’m getting back into aviation after a 10 year break and I’m finding your channel very helpful, thanks again👍
I was a partner in a business where we had from 15 to 18 Super Cubs operating mostly in towing gliders. All of them had been upgraded to 180hp engines as we were towing at the USAFA in Colorado Springs, elevation 6500 feet. We also towed for Black Forest Gliderport where some wave tows went to level with the top of Pikes Peak, elevation 14.410 feet. Since we often had six or more tows an hour, the point of greatest concern for structural failure was the clusters where the landing gear attached to the lower longerons.
Great video man. Very informative, this should have more views. I recently got my airframe rating. Currently studying for my power plant O and P. You’re a great help
I am a lifelong retired mechanic, specializing in engine rebuild and diagnostics, gasoline diesel, motorcycle and outboard two stroke engines, I have never had hands on experience with lycomming or continental aircraft engines but always was impressed by their design, great video and I will subscribe.
Currently In the A&P program finishing up general side of things. Love the vids James. Easy to understand what you're doing and is gives me a boost every time i start slacking. Hope to see some videos in the future!
Hey... Great Videos. I got my A&P in 1998 and used it for about 3 months before getting hired as a co-pilot at Great Lakes. I feel bad that I did not get more experience as an A&P, but my goal was always to fly. Your videos remind me of all the things that I learned while going to school. Keep up the good work. I like both the GA and Surfair videos the same because they show two different aspects of MX
Super video. My Scout is headed in for Annual next week and I am pretty hands-on w the mechanics at least through compression checks & shooting the borescope video.
Cool stuff. I like the GA video. Would be cool to see tips and tricks for doing safety wire the right way especially wiring multiple fasteners together like on a prop or similar!
i think this is facinating to watch. i build houses for a living and i've always wondered what it would be like to be an AP mechanic. i also own a cessna 182 i bought new in 2005, it has 1600 hours on the engine and has never needed any repairs. Lycoming...
Thanks Steven - I sure do love airplanes. Wish I had more time to film and share with you all since there seems to be a lot of interested people out there.
James Sullivan your cinematography is perfect. It is done so well and makes what you do even more interesting to watch. I am sort of living vicariously through you. I always wanted to be a pilot and have my office in the clouds but it is still just a dream for me right now. I watch loads of videos about flying and planes. Your videos have shown me that its not just pilots that love their jobs working with these incredible machines and that is an aspect that I have never really thought about! Keep them coming! Yours is one of my favourite channels to watch and I'm always excited to see a notification pop up!
Love your video series man, very great knowledge being passed on. You should do a little tool box/tool room tour at Surf Air! Would be neat to see. Keep it up!
*pipe wrench ;-) cool videos man, just started watching. I've been an A&P for about 8 years now and a pilot for 4, and I still love watching your stuff. I miss working in GA and the community that comes with it. I'm in airliners these days. Living my past life through you :-)
@@stevenrodriguez2882 yeah, it's a useful skillset if nothing else. But being in aviation is an elite club, and it definitely has its days like everything else. I love aviation.
Good walk through on the engine side. My J3-65 goes thru almost the exact process. None of the hangar rats in my neck of the woods has a spark tester. Usually hold against the case and someone spins the prop to see spark... I didn't know a plug firing is a bit more difficult when under say 80 psi. Would be a nice gadget to add to the tool box / work bench.
James Sullivan - one of the best vlogs ever! P.S.: Sorry to bring this up but you've looked happier while working for SurfAir... Looks like you are a team player and you feel better when you are not alone in a hangar...
Im a Canadian AME student, and your videos tease the hell out of me! Thanks for giving us a taste of what's out there! also, it would be awesome to do a toolbox walkthrough.
James Sullivan how many years total have you been in aviation? I've got past aviation experience before the AME college, but even with that, it seems to be a bit tricky to find work in Canada.
Nice to see you working on GA aircraft again. Very helpful to see a professional do it, as I do all the inspections and repair jobs myself. It's a microlight in Germany, so it's legal to do so but nonetheless valuable to see how you do things. It's pretty similar as I'm working on a Rotax 912 and a fabric covered plane as well. Keep up the good work!
dope! rotax are sweet. what type of airframe? I hope to build my own kit someday. kind of stuck on the RV but i am not the best at sheetmetal and open to new idieas (fabric tailwheel stol FTW)
James Sullivan for the spark plugs. idk if it's yours or not but I recognize that 7/8 socket because I use the same one lol its magnetized so it saves my ass when I'm doing the top plugs
Love your video James!! I'm only a year out from being able to write for my AME license here in Canada. I work on Light/Intermediate Turbine Helicopters (206/AStar's).
What! I didn't know you have a super amazing youtube channel, what the hell! You share a breakfast burrito with me, but not your youtube channel?!?!?!😂 your videos are so neat!
Great stuff. You're a great teacher. I'm an A&P and love to watch your videos. Love to learn...
Love the GA videos. A lot more relatable to what I work with and very informative. Thank you.
Great video as always! Loved the banner tow snag sequence. Loved the details on the maintenance as well. All great James! Thanks for the video!

Love these videos! Especially smaller planes like this. Excellent production value as well.
Great video, thanks! We're having our Glastar annual done tomorrow and I learn a bit more about what's done during an annual every year. Keep up the great videos, and I love a mix of the GA and PC-12 stuff. :-)
I really enjoy seeing the GA side as well as the commercial side. Your videos are very insightful and entertaining. Keep up the great work!
Love watching your videos. I on my way to get my A&P and your videos give me great information.

You are a great instructor. I learn a lot from your videos. I’m getting ready to see a DME soon and watching your videos helps me prepare. Thanks
Either way I really enjoy these type of videos and seeing what you do. Keep up the good work man!
Nice video James! You're explanations are spot on brother! Keep up the good work making us Aircraft Mechanics looking good!

Thanks dude for making this vid. I got learned today for the annual inspection.
Fantastic video, and great explanations. Seems like spending the day alone working on plane would feel like a nice break from your normal schedule.
It's definitely a nice change in pace. Some things are difficult alone though (think engine change)
Excellent film footage and sound. Excellent dialogue as well.

I'm moving into tstc in Waco and this really helps with getting an idea what it's all about. A&p baby 🤙🤙

I'll try to put that together. Thanks for the suggestion!
