The bottle has a tapered spout so that you can slip a clear plastic hose over it and put the other end into the fill hole. Then no matter where the fill hole is the plastic hose will find it. Before putting the oil in using a plastic hose just put the bottle of Lucas into a bucket half filled with HOT water for a time, it will run in much faster.

I used some today and now my transmission works great. I thought for sure I was going to have to get a new transmission but nope. I went to Walmart bought a siphoner put the hose down the transmission hole where the dipstick goes took five courts of transmission fluid out put a quart of Lucas stop slip in 4 quarts Valvoline high-mileage synthetic transmission fluid and now it works perfect. Could have just been the fact that I just put new fluid in but I added some Lucas stop slip it in there anyway and like I said it seems to work perfect now. So if anybody out there it's having transmission problems try that

Thanks for this review. I have had pretty good luck with Lucas. HOWEVER-- be sure to tuck in your drawstrings on your hoodie when working on a running motor. I was cringing while watching your video. The thought of a drawstring wrapping around your water pump pully and pulling your head into the fan keeps old guys like me up at night. Good video

My dad was working under the hood of a customers vehicle, when the red grease rag that he had in his hand got caught in the fan belt. He thought he snatched his hand away quick enough, but when he looked at his hand, the index finger tip was missing. I remember his face turning white. The index tip was found under the vehicle and we placed it on ice. The hospital was able to reattach it. I was younger when this happened but remember it clear as yesterday. I’m always cautious when I’m working on a vehicle.

A good solution is to change the transmission fluid over to the valvoline synthetic as soon as possible.
A hand vacuum pump works easily for those inclined to not disassemble anything .... get the pump at northern tool and some clear tubing from lowes that fits into your transmission dipstick hole .. suck all the fluid you can out and replace with fresh ... to be most effective, this will take at least two times times to remove all the spoiled fluid. Drive your truck awhile , at least 300 miles before repeating ...
I've done this on a 1994 silverado with 250k miles with great success ... still shifting and going strong after three years .....
Also remember when you are towing anything, place your truck, not in overdrive but the second D. Somewhere it's recommended in the owners manual .
Your transmission cost way more than a few tanks of gas. .

Basically Lucas helps lube everything up, sorta helps renew old fluid, and it helps older clutch packs grip better. It's like what 10-20 bucks? worst that happens is it doesn't work.
My CL Type-S has around 160k on it and the clutch packs would slip up a bit when cruising and cause RPMs to surge. so I just poured some of this stuff in and half a bottle was good enough to keep the clutch packs from slipping.
can't say anything but good about this transmission genie in a bottle.

Need help. Long read ahead. I have a 1988 Honda Civic EF 1.3 automatic. I got the transmission changed in May last year because the previous transmission wasn't engaging from the 2nd gear to the 3rd gear. The new (second hand) transmission was fine then it started to show some lag when put in 'drive' (when the engine was cold). I was using the original Honda Transmission Fluid. Slowly that problem got worse and I'd have to keep the car running for about 10 minutes early in the morning and only then 'drive' will respond. I was advised by a local mechanic to change to Amsoil Transmission fluid as he mentioned it has additives and I did.
    A) First Amsoil Transmission fluid change.
It showed improvements like the 'drive' gear engaging right after I started up the car but it would only coast in drive, stepping on the accelerator didn't have any response. I'd have to warm up the engine for maybe 3-4 minutes and would be able to drive off with no issues. I noticed with each passing week, I'd have to warm up the engine longer for the drive gear to engage. The problem came back in full swing after 3 months with newer symptoms. After warming up for about 10 minutes and driving off, the engine would have to rev up to 3k or even 4k in a very struggling manner and it would sound as though the engine has to work way harder to get from the first gear to the second gear. But once at operating temperature, the transmission works just fine and smooth but it would slip sometimes. This new symptom showed up after having driven the car for about 5k miles since the Amsoil Transmission fluid change.
    B) Second Amsoil Transmission fluid change.
So I changed the fluid again and things got better than they were towards the end of 5k mileage of the first Amsoil fluid change. I drove another 5k miles and have another new symptom. The reverse gear won't engage when the engine is cold. So I'd have to keep the engine running for about 5 minutes for the reverse gear to engage and about 10 minutes for drive gear to engage with the current trans fluid. But, in order for first to second gear to shift smoothly, id have to run the engine for about 15 minutes (reach operating temperature). 15 minutes does the trick and the car runs just fine the whole day (absolutely smooth like a new car I'd say). But if I leave the car parked for a few hours, I'd have to run the engine for about 2-3 minutes for the gears to engage. This is the current situation I'm in.
So basically I have three problems:
    1) Drive gear won't engage if car isn't warmed up.
    2) First gear going into second struggles a lot if not sufficiently warmed up.
    3) Reverse gear won't engage if the engine is not warmed up for 5 minutes.
    My question is:
Would Lucas Transmission Fix be effective in helping me with this issue?
Any help that comes my way is very much appreciated. It's the only car I have and I absolutely love this car. Thank you so much.

A automatic transmission works by using hydraulic pressure to engage the stacks of clutches and if the seals are leaking do to wear and tear or the Valves have space between them and the valve body allowing pressure to slip by than any thickening of the Oil will create a higher pressure in the Transmissions hydraulic system. I have be using STP Motor Oil Treatment because of it's thickness for years and i come to find out that some Transmission rebuilders use it to hold the balls in place while assembly and to lube the seal and parts while assembly. I put it in my 4L60 and a 1987 Acadian after 10 years of driving and it was still being drove 5 years after that. So i can believe that a thick oil would make a transmission last a bit longer because i have been doing it since the 70's. My uncle drove a Dodge van from Ontario to Alberta in the 70's with a slipping transmission and a old timer said to add the STP to the Tranny before he started to leave and couldn't believe it after driving the van for 3 more years.

Either the solenoids are stuck or the clutches are not grabbing like they should. Hopefully the clutches are not worn out or damaged because they are inside there and replacing them can be very expensive. Some mechanics would just get a rebuilt transmission. Does the car have a lot of miles? They do eventually wear out.

    • @Jay_T
      @Jay_T 5 років тому +2

Did you take out the same amount of transmission fluid ounces as the Lucas bottle first before adding the Lucas? You need to take out trans fluid before adding this stuff or it'll overfill your trans and kill it. As long as the fluid level is within range on the dip stick you're good. So if you were low on fluid you might not have to take any trans fluid out before you add this stuff, but if the level is good then you've got to take some out otherwise you overfill it.

This stuff pours like STP/Molasses and it's NOT a small bottle {24oz). It will soon often be -10 to -20 degrees below zero here. With temps like that, my worry would be transmission cold engagement problems. That, by itself, could CAUSE damage. This is the only thing holding me back from using this right now. I asked Lucas this same question.........and they ignored my email. I may have to use "Trans Medic" instead. I was a Chevrolet technician and service mgr. for over 30 years.

    I have a 2001 maxima with 203k miles
It was shifting bad all gears
Then check engine came on P0744 one day.
    While
Investigating the code discovered that transmission fluid was dark
So I decided to do a transmission drain and fill. 4 qts came out
It was black brown, didn’t smell bad
No Metallic tint , no metal shavings in old fluid. Also the level was t up to the full level but in the ok area .
I added 3.5 qts of Valvoline max life ATF (synthetic). And 1 bottle of Lucus
Turned off the code and drove it
Code came back in 70 miles
But was shifting a lot better
At 300 miles post ATF service it was almost back to normal. At 600 miles it was 90% better. And got better as the more it was driven. I haven’t cleared the code again now that it’s driving better to see if it comes back
I have a theory what is up with the P0744 is that since it had dirty fluid
Perhaps the TCC solenoid is sticking.
And atf service with Lucus and helping
I may have to try seafoam trans tune to drive it 1000 miles and change the atf to try to clean it out.
Cheers Lucus is some good stuff.
It doesn’t fix it but buys you some time.
