When I was a kid I had a CD called the best of Irish something or other. I lost the CD many years ago, and now I'm on a quest to find as many of the songs from it as I can on youtube. I loved every song on that CD and had them all memorized. No other version of any of those songs can quite compare, in my mind. Anyway, this is one of them, and I'm so glad to hear it again after so long searching. Thanks for uploading!
Classic Irish ☘️ Vibes!! My favorite of all time ❤❤❤❤❤❤ May the Lord Above provide & ye never go without, great health & prosperity to all!! ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️🍻🍻🍻
I love how eddie sings like the pipes sound, I love the music of the furey family and was brought up with it, I met Eddie once, but as they say , you should never meet your idols as they might upset your vision of them, he wouldn't give me any time, but he did look tired, I met George also and he gave me lots of chat, we was chatting until someone called him to leave, was very nice, a gentleman , I never met finbar though, and I named my only son after him, not many seem to like the name but I love it
Sorry it is not a Burns song ...It was sung in Scotland before he wrote Auld Lang Syne but I still believe it was first played and sung in Scotland before Ireland!
@@ianmcvey1745 I never said Burns wrote it. I said he collected a version of it. The melody is almost entirely agreed to be Irish, and the earliest variants of the lyrics were thought to be sung in Ireland in the early 1700s
I met Finbar and Eddie Furey at the Wheelhouse Folk Club in Formby. They were sleeping in the back of their van at the time they were fantastic performers.
I met Finbar and George in a pub in Waterford back in 1975, lent them my mandolin to play, (George had broken his guitar string and didn't have a replacement). I jammed a bit with them. I remember George singing a nice version of "Farewell He". They were characters with a capital "C" :)
The anthem of every shadower. For those not who are not aware the Curragh Camp has a huge water tower visible across the county. Everyone has always grown up in the shadow of the tower.
Some of the best singing ever put on tape. Pure freedom.
Yes, except it isn't freedom, but submission. But some of the very best indeed!

A Scottish song written by Robert Burns.
@@ianmcvey1745 No. It's accepted as being an Irish melody, it's just that Burns collected a version of it.

Love the counterpoint of the pipes on this, other-wordly sound……
I saw these guys round about 1970 at my local folk club. They were brilliant then and still are. More power to their elbows!

From an American love this song reminds me of my trip to Ireland
This song sends me cold.......I must have sung it in a previous life. The pipes are so haunting and the vocals are superb.
The first Finbar & Eddie's song I've heard. Absolutely beautiful.
Raw and perfect

This is beyond music. This is magic. With the pipes of Seamaus Ennis in the background.
id say its fionnbarr on the pipes as he is an accomplished piper himself
Wrong! Seamus played pipes on this as myself and Finbar were on a three day bender and he couldn't attend!
Unbelievably beautiful, awesome tune.
The voice combined with the bagpipe is haunting and beautiful.
Philip this isn't the bagpipes, this is the sound of the uilleann pipes.

Hypnotic and devastating.
beatiful and mistical voice....
ive loved eddie and finbar siince 1970s. great to enjoy them on here
@MrJohnered It sure is Finbar on the pipes mate. If a better version of this song exists, I want to hear it! Good luck to you.
I love Eddie's voice, but his lyrics are not the best version of this song, IMHO.
Sublime...
I jammed with the Buskers in 1974 with one of the furey brothers whom I cannot name now . Amazing entertainewrs
Perfect! ❤❤👍👍
Thx. 😊😊
Amazing

G'wan the lads!
An interesting version in comparison to the Johnstone's version.
i think finbar and eddie on their own was better than the actual furey and davey arthur band. much more raw and pure
agree 100%
