For all the US viewers just so you understand, for example, if a car costs US $50,000 by the time it reaches Jamaica the price basically doubles. The reason for this is the different fees and taxes that are attached when importing a vehicle whether you are a dealer or individual. And there is also the exchange rate factor US$1.00 = JA$160.00. Which brings up another point, this doubling of the vehicle price is the reason for excitement and fanfare when certain vehicles are brought to Jamaica, because we know for that individual to own that vehicle in Jamaica he/she has basically paid for the vehicle twice. The only vehicles that might be a little more cost effective are economy cars or vehicles with small engines 2000cc or less. 😎
Yes these new car are too inflated. The usual appreciation in the Jamaican car market has diminished. Best you let someone take the depreciation hit then buy it low miles used .
That's an European car for you, extremely expensive when new and low resale value when used. 2020 Toyota Rav4 bought in 2019, value 6Mil ...value in 2025... 4.5 to 5Mil ...see the difference ?
@@stevesalvatore lol, was thinking the same thing. Also a point to note is that the market value is most times less than what's on the evaluation. They can value it for say "X dollars" all you want but if nobody is buying ( and this is a used Audi so yeah nobody buying) then you gotta reduce how much you want if you need it sold.
In 2025 people still comparing car prices in the U.S. vs jamaica 😳!! Insane duty fees . It’s nothing new car prices are going to be higher in jamaica based on taxes the government implements on clearing vehicles and engine size 🤦🏾♂️
I cant believe people are this ignorant. People for the last time. Stop comparing car prices to the US. They dont have duty fees import fees etc etc . Jamaica is no exception. Philippines Australia alot of asian countries. its the same. Prices are double even tripple Like its just ridiculous people keep bringing this up in 2025
The cost of shipping taxes paperworks ect brings up the price for those cars in Jamaica shipping and clearing that car alone is the same price or more than what you paid for it in The states take all those factors into consideration 🤔
Invest that 23mil in real estate. I would never buy a car for that. I will only buy a car in Jamaica with a budget around 2mil. Cuz you have to factor road conditions plus the technicians or mechanic don't have the advancement as a 1st world country. Again invest in land bredda
New vehicles lose 20% on their value in the first year. Within four to five years it will depreciate by 40% to 50% of the original value. These are facts not my opinion. So your valuation reading seems on point so far.
Only in Jamaica you'll hear all kind TRASHHHHH Talks about modeling cars and cost for that vehicle goes up. In the US once it's not a bulit racing car that price will be heading down the hill
The car dem selling to expensive a Jamaica. No way that car should be that expensive in the first place. I bought a 2025 gmc sierra 3500 for 61,000usd/9,150,000jmd October 2024. I also bought a 2024 bmw x7 used November 2024 for 74,000 usd/ 11,100,000jmd The dealers in Jamaica overpricing the cars
So people would really buy that car for $85k us I can buy that same car in the us for under $50k selling cars in Jamaica is a lucrative business must be nice for the car dealers in Jamaica
New vehicles lose 20% on their value in the first year and 15% each year after. Within four to five years it will depreciate by 40% to 50% of the original value. These are facts not my opinion. So your valuation reading seems on point so far. The vehicle you say is a 2021 so in 2025 it is in fact a four year old car because vehicles are aged from the day it comes off the manufacturer’s line.

I'm surprised you also trade with Coach Angelia Marie, She's the best at what she does.
Wow! That's amazing.
She must be really dedicated and well trusted for people to talk very good about.
Hit $200k today. Thank you for all the knowledge and nuggets you had thrown my way over the last year. Started with $17k last year in 2024.

the magic number is 1.8x
Appreciate the explanation.
So basically to buy a vehicle in ja, you have to be far richer than someone in the States.
@@dedan2correct 😎👍🏾
I tell ppl this all the time they said it’s cheaper thanks for the clarification just the costumes fees and taxes
In the UK a vehicle depreciated by 5K the minute it drives out the dealership 😢😮 I powder coat my OEM alloys ❤
Valuable advice Asafa
Isn't a lower value better for you in terms of insurance premium?
The Best parcatice is to buy a well maintained premium preowned car, half the price plus some of the big service items would be taken care of
So true Asafa buy what you can afford until you have the money to buy the one you really love good advice
Good video, very informative for persons who did not know these things.
I only purchased certified pre owned.
My Respect 🙏🏿 Mr Powell
Wow,thanks bro for this excellent enlightening video.
2:11 😂Certainly right abt that Safa,alot just wouldn't understand💯
Most cars will lose just over 50% of its value over 3 years . Porsche tends to hold its value slightly better.
Yes these new car are too inflated. The usual appreciation in the Jamaican car market has diminished. Best you let someone take the depreciation hit then buy it low miles used .
Thanks for this. I learn a lot to day

2020 Toyota Rav4 bought in 2019, value 6Mil ...value in 2025... 4.5 to 5Mil ...see the difference ?
The moment you drive it off the lot it depreciates
I expected 10 million . 12 million was more than I expected 😂

In 2025 people still comparing car prices in the U.S. vs jamaica 😳!! Insane duty fees . It’s nothing new car prices are going to be higher in jamaica based on taxes the government implements on clearing vehicles and engine size 🤦🏾♂️
Import duties.
Customs
That's Jamaica. The duties, shipping cost, and what the dealer needs to add to make a profit.
Mr.Powell there a place on Roosevelt near stadium that do that in couple of minutes
If only the man dem whe a run dung beast know say dem nuh value ntn as dem drive off

Its so crazy I bought a new 2018 GLS 550 for 105.000 US and I dont even want to know how mush its worth today and i hardly use it
Family vehicle
Most definitely lost a lot of value
They’re usually overpriced from the start
Think you meant to say 24000 km 😕
Nice car 🚗

wow at the mileage! its basically a show car still
An Audi 2021 Q7 Premium plus 50k mileages is for US$32,500 right now in the US so only Jamaica alone you'll hear those crazy prices for that vehicle
The cost of shipping taxes paperworks ect brings up the price for those cars in Jamaica shipping and clearing that car alone is the same price or more than what you paid for it in The states take all those factors into consideration 🤔
Nice spec ..
Depreciation is like cancer ..
Sell this and get a diesel Toyota Land Cruiser ..
8 mil is a lot to give away in three years...for most persons. Safa can probably absorb that hit. Still have to weep though.
In retrospect, I said this 3 years ago when you posted the Maintenance video that this Audi was a massive waste of 23mil. Learn?
Buy a Land Cruiser or a Prado won't depreciate that fast
I think these appraisers are working with the insurance companies to under value the cars.
Up mi g. So true
Safa ,a land cruiser prader would be a better buy
Millions jus gone off it so you show get a Toyota Prada new shape those wouldn’t lose valve so fast but me understand u like a car so u jus buy it
I wonder what the devalution after 2 or 3 years would be on these Chinese imported vehicles ?
Worse because hard to resell
and people want 2 million dollars for 2014 cars 😂😂😂😂😂
I bet a Prado same year is would value more
Invest that 23mil in real estate. I would never buy a car for that. I will only buy a car in Jamaica with a budget around 2mil. Cuz you have to factor road conditions plus the technicians or mechanic don't have the advancement as a 1st world country. Again invest in land bredda
Yup and they’re not so reliable to add to that…sell it and buy a Prado/Land Cruiser better value

Evaluation can't right. Try another evaluation company. Slightly no defects and small mileage. The evaluation is wrong.
All cars the moment if drives off the lot,it looses value...
That's why me a wait until 2027 to buy the 2025 Jetour.
I owned an Audi A8L it didn’t cost 💲 me that much. It was fully loaded
This car sells for $55,000 USD brand new in 2021 here in the US. That’s crazy

Yup, those German cars hold no weight.
That’s crazy

The value dropped by $175k every month...
Only in Jamaica you'll hear all kind TRASHHHHH Talks about modeling cars and cost for that vehicle goes up. In the US once it's not a bulit racing car that price will be heading down the hill
safa is living proof that its hard to stay lean once you start getting older
The fact thats what you got from this video is crazy lol
