Hi Shan, thank you for listening to us your subscribers. I’m so happy you are now making them monthly.
You guys are the only reason I’m here so hopefully I can continue to just make the videos you actually want to see 🥰
Regarding investing for your kids.
Martin Lewis once said something that resonated with me. If you put money away for your kids it probably won't earn as much interest as interest you're paying on things like the mortgage. Use that money to over pay debts now, then when they're older you'll have more expendable income to help them in the future.
I think it was on an episode where someone had been given a lump sum inheritance and it was shocking when he projected the difference of saving it compared to using it to reduce a mortgage.
Just something to think about as obviously that was a different scenario anyway x
Heyyy! I think this is definitely the case for saving, but for investing, I’m not sure how true that is. Obviously the biggest pro with saving/overpaying the mortgage is that it’s a dead cert! You will 100% be better off afterwards, whereas with investing there is ALWAYS a risk, which is deffo not for everyone! Xxx
We’ve done this. We’ve used my sons child benefits (he’s only 2) to contribute to overpaying a chunk of our house mortgage. I wanted to do what Shan is doing as my parents did that for me but my husband loves Martin Lewis and heard this bit of advice 👍🏼
Thanks so much for this video Shan it has helped me so much, just purchased your Etsy spreadsheet and it's a GAME CHANGER! Thank you! Xxx

Hi thanks for the video I love finding the best ways to budget!
For the Hyperjar app, once you have allocated money to a jar to spend that money, eg for a day out do you have to physically transfer it out the jar or does it come off automatically?
Please can you do more videos about children’s savings accounts and sticks and shares? Thank you!

I have monzo and really want to do this with the pots, can someone please tell me do you have to transfer the money from the pot/jar to the main balance before you spend it? Xx
Would be great to see a video on saving for kids & ISA’s etc please! X
Hey, I also have a bisuiness and intend to use as materinity pot, did you put yourself as a PAYE employee to pay yourself that, or pay yourself in dividends? It seems as dividends it requires you to wait til the end of the year? I enjoy your budgetting videos and hope you can do more!
Hi Shan - what isa do you use for the little ones? I’m struggling to find one 😊
So we started on a Santander Junior cash ISA, but we have reverently moved across to a junior Stocks and Shares ISA ♥️

I would love to see a video of how you save/invest for your children!
I need to know more about stocks and shares ISA!
We put in some savings into a fixed bond in Sep, when we take it out this Sep we would have made £2,500 in interest alone.
Kicking myself for hoarding our savings for so long and not doing this sooner 😭
Yes please to the kids isa video❤
Hey, thank you for this video so helpful! Would love to see a more in depth investments one, is trading 212 a little like freetrade? 😊
Hey! I’m so glad, I’d love to do a video like this! And yeah, trading 212 is just like free trade I believe 👌🏼
Thank you so much for getting back to me! That’s amazing, I have Freetrade so will have to look into it a little further 🙌🏻
Is the business income from social media? Xx
Can you please make vid about child ISA
out of curiousity, does your family still eligible for child benefit with you having double income (UA-cam and your job) now? I am only asking as I find it so tricky to figure it out what they mean by "adjusted net income" (is it after tax deduction or not?) and it's so unfair that if a household with only have 1 partner working but once it hit over the 50k annual income, then the family is no longer eligible for child benefit where as you can have 2 person working in the family bringing back 49k annual income each and yet the family is still eligible. If you have any knowledge/experience, would love a video talking about this pleaseee.... Many thanks!
I notice No t.v license,I have to have one as watch all my soaps!! 😂
I would love to see savings and investments for children. I am not working at the moment so only have uc and child Ben's but would love to set something up for my kids
I am curious- you say petrol is a 'personal' expense- but if you're driving George to nursery or to get the family food or other essentials surely that is a family expense? I wonder why after marriage you decided not to be fully joint with your husband fincially? Why are your children's clothes a 'nice to have', again is that not a shared family essential expense? It seems to me even in this day and age of women being 'equal' so many are still shouldering the financial load (not to mention the mental, domestic etc loads!!)
I believe when it comes to petrol it’s because they’re a 2 car family - Her husband obviously pays for his fuel and expenses and therefore Shan pays for her.
Shans also mentioned she uses the money she makes on vinted to pay for children clothes so essentially any additional clothes might be for a specific occasion and warrant being brand new :)
What is your business? X
What is ‘the business’?
You’re lucky you’ve got 2 incomes..I’ve only got statutory and it’s less that your statutory 😔
