Agreed. Some backers will be so depressed or angry or dead by the time it might even meet a quarter of the promised features.
I can’t entirely blame cigs marketing, because people can choose to not keep giving them money. That said cig clearly faked every demo,
I think that’s proven now. One could argue cig has lied to get here today by demonstrating things that don’t exists to make the game look further alone that it is. I wouldn’t have brought in if I knew that the sand worm demo was fake. If that’s the case and it was Volkswagen lieing selling cars, there would have already been a class action suit against them. Cig gets away with it a little because it’s niche and kick starter grey zone a little bit, but you could easily call it a scam or fraud. Easy.

      Echochamber 101: feelings over facts
An opinion is a judgment, viewpoint, or statement that is not conclusive, rather than facts, which are true statements. Wikipedia
It may not always be obvious to your child when they are reading a statement whether it is a fact or an opinion. As we've discussed, facts are always true and can't be argued against. On the other hand, opinions can be argued against. Opinion statements may have phrases like “I feel,” “I believe,” “I think,” etc.
      Opinions are Subjective;
based on or influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions.
      "his views are highly subjective"
      "Android is better than Iphone"
      Is an opinion
"George Washington was the first President of the USA"
      Is a fact
Comprende? Its basic english, but one exists in the world we all experience, while the other only exists in your head.
Therefore your claims and opinions are irrelevant.
Fallacies of irrelevance are fallacies in which the premises are irrelevant to the conclusion. Such a fallacy is often called a non sequitur(“does not follow”), which is an argument in which the conclusion does not follow from the premises.
As in your feelings are not facts, and do not constitute an objective argument. Its also clear that it's all you have
Thats the difference between being in a cult, and being able to tie your own shoes 😂
You clearly struggle with basic concepts of truth, logic, and reality vs your unsupported claims, circular arguments, and fee fees

@@Uncanny_Mountain your whole speil was a non sequitur. You failed to engage with the op's (original poster's) comment. In this case, op is not the one struggling with concepts here. Even though i disagree with op on their opinion (ie, that the person in the video is either correct or righteous to feel the way they do about Star Citizen), their opinion is not a non sequitur. In a space that is filled with comments of agreement or disagreement as a way of showing solidarity with one side vs another, a declaration of support is indeed relevant to the conversation. Your speil on irrelevancy is ironically, irrelevant.
Also, declarations of opinionions like op's are not in and of themselves arguments. Given the context of the post as a youtube comment, it is as or more likely to exist, not to be an argument meant to convince an opposition, but to support the video with engagment while showing the videos author agreement or support.
Finally, an opinion from me. Posters like myself, who engage with the actual subject matter of a comment are highly valuable to the conversation. Poster like op, who provide their opinion (even unsuported) in solidarity with either side of an argument are minimally valuable to the coversation, but have value to the content creator. Posters like yourself who fail to engage with either the larger discussion or the op and their post have minimal if any value to anyone. I'm often very critical of Star Citizen, but some of the complaints from Mike are just stupid. Complaining that the game is to much of a "life simulator in space" for example. That's the whole idea of the game. Waiting for a tram. Having to call ATC to take off. Having to take off your helmet to eat and drink. He very often says there has to be rewards or reasons for doing missions. But what reward would that be? What kind of progression would he like to see? I get the feel he is in some kind of normal mmo mental state where you should get armor with higher and higher numbers to do harder and harder bosses or something. If the only reason you do a mission is because of some reward, then the game is boring anyway. If the gameplay is good, it will be fun even without some reward. Because fun is also a reason to play. The best reason to play I'd say. Not rewards. However, often gameplay is not good. So... there's that.

I too have been here since the kickstarter and its been a hell of a journey to be honest. What's kept me sane was separating fact from fiction with the development here.
in 2012, CIG wasn't even a dev company, it was an LLC, with no location, with just Chris and a handful of people pitching ideas in his house.
Kickstarter was also not for Star Citizen as we know it. It was 10 Missions of what would become SQ42, designed to be in the style of Freelancer meets Wing Commander. It wasn't until the crowd demanded a full game that the idea for Multiplayer like Freelancers online community which was still thriving back then that the PU even started to form.
They picked Cryengine, which would have been fine for SQ42, but even hiring experts who knew the engine thoroughly, they couldn't adapt it, without having to move to Lumberyard which, meant a lot reworking everything they had been doing for the first 3 years.
They hit a Lawsuit that slowed development to a crawl for an entire year when they tried to hold CIG responsible for releasing SQ42 in full, along with a PU, which they almost were forced to do, which would have been the death of the project.
Actual Development of "Star Citizen" Didn't really start til almost 2016 because of this. 2 Years of building the company to AAA Standards, and then having to build Lumberyard from almost scratch with the tools they needed to do what was necessary.
Most AAA Games take 3-4 Yeas to develop from established companies with already pre-existing tech. So CIG was WELL behind the start line with this.
Mix in the fact that the entire Alpha project has to be in some form of playability to the general public and you add at least 20% lengthier development time as many man hours and time has to be dedicated to assembling the sandbox modules which no company to date has done, or ever had a reason to do. In short, this slows the entire process down. They have to balance between making something playable while not fixing ALL bugs which are only going to reoccur once a few more lines of code or certain feature is added and throws the entire process back to the start line all over again. Anyone's that's done any form of coding knows, that adding even one feature can cascade and make an entire program unplayable.
I equate this to trying having to paint a house that's being built. You're going to be repainting that bitch every week just to make it look presentable, while every contracted team on site is messing it up just as fast as you're painting it.
Here's where we hit a point of, I don't agree with what they did, but I understand its realistically the only way this project could have survived long enough to become self sufficient.
Most AAA Engines take an average of 5 years to develop. Just the engine. Especially an engine that would have to develop tech that doesn't even exist.
So, CIG is building an engine from its foundation, Building an entire AAA Single player game, which over half the assets aren't even going to be shared with the PU, and then a whole Multiplayer world that succeeds the Single player game.
^ All of this takes money, money that investors would put a deadline on, and kill the entire project like they do with nearly every development project in the last 10 years. We see this all the time where a game comes out with so many bugs its unplayable. Its because whomever funded the project forces the company to release their product in any semblance of playability so they can get their agreed upon money back bug or not. FF14, Cyberpunk, Batman, I coudl list off an entire page of AAA games that were borderline unplayable at release from some of the biggest companies in the market and some of these games have stood in development for almost a decade as well.
In short, Crowd fundings the only way this would have happened, and atm, CIG is self sufficient off investors that have no say on deadlines, because even if the project for whatever reason never released. The Star Engine or whatever they dubbed it now a days, is worth more than SQ42 or SC itself. What CIG's done with Lumberyard is above and beyond what any game engine currently is capable remotely doing.
Do I think CIG lied to us? Partially. I believe they've been overly optimistic in how fast they could overcome blockers trailblazing a huge project like this, but I also understand that if they came out and said, hey, realistically we're probably five years out from anything being released, I can easily see much of the community not putting the crowd funding needed to get Star Citizen to the point where it was self sufficient and Investors would back them without being able to compromise the project.
It's an interesting crossroads, because I can't see this project succeeding without them believing their own hype and making us want to believe the hype as far as how quickly development could go, because without us, the project would have been dead, so with that in mind, I'm personally alright with them making me wanting to believe in Santa Claus to see the state of things in how they are.
The last four years have been massive leaps in what the game provides and to date, its got more content than many AAA games out if we're being honest.
Should they stop selling ships? I don't think so, no one is forced to buy any, and everyday mobile games have people spending thousands on Gacha's and games like Raid Shadow Legends. People purchase ships for various reasons, and above all else, its a tie into the project and course does keep the lights on to support the work that's going in. I'd personally rather see someone spend a grand on a ship to fund this project than it to go to Generic Korean Gacha company.
Seeing the state of every other AAA Game studio today, and also knowing what happens behind closed doors during development. Most of these mistakes, delays and what not is very typical of normal development, which is mostly hidden behind the curtain until a beta is released.
I'd like to close this post with just mentioning Starfield.
8 Years of Development from one of the biggest names in the industry.
I'm not going to review it, but, anyone who's played it, Its not a bad game perse, but severely lacking for eight years of dev time for what they gave us, and that was from a well established AAA company with an existing engine.

I feel bad for people who continue to play SC, but I have a somewhat relatable experience- five years ago, I played Madden Mobile for a 3 year stretch and spent thousands and thousands of dollars before I finally quit and went back to PC gaming, mostly single player RPG shooters like Bethesda titles, Deus Ex, RDR2, Cyberpunk 2077, etc. I only found this content because of Mike's coverage of Starfield Direct.
I often think back at those years of playing Madden Mobile very much as an addict would- I haven't played Madden Mobile for five years now. I've been clean for five years. It's a bad part of my life that I am thankful to have escaped.
Part of what that experience taught me is to learn and recognize some of the exploitive and harmful models that exist in gaming today, and after watching this, I put SC in the same class as EA.

I am among the first backers from 2013 and I have totally given up on this nonsense.
I stopped giving them my money many years ago as I clearly saw the pattern that was emerging and that is still there.
I totally understand why more and more people call this a scam.
Making more and more concept ships that they sell for insane money to stupid people and delivering extremely little on the gaming side of something that is supposed to be a game.
Instead it has become a market place to sell concept spaceships to suck as much money as possible from people.
I find it hilarious when people call it micro transactions.
    Micro transactions for what?
What do you really get when doing these "micro transactions" that are extremely expensive to be called micro transactions anyway?
Buying concept spaceships that you can't even use in a game?
I have a few bridges I can sell you if you are interested.
Hey, if you have the money, I can even sell you the Eiffel Tower if you are interested.
I find it extremely amazing how stupid and gullible people are that are stilling giving them their money when the game in reality is still very far from what has been promised after 10 years of development.
I think people are so extremely invested in this game, both when it comes to money and mentally, that they are totally blind to what is going on and they always look for small shiny glimpses and want to believe and think the best about the game and the developers.
People are so extremely invested in this "game" that they have become utterly stupid and let Roberts Space Industries get away with so extremely much that they would not let other game developers get away with at all.
Most that are still buying ships, trying to play the game and are still waiting for this game to become as promised are in reality members of a cult without having a clue that they are.
The Star Citizen cult is real.
I really don't understand why people waste their time and money on this "game" when there are so many games they can play that are much better than Star Citizen is at this moment.
Just walk away from it and then consider to come back to it if it ever gets released and is a good game then.
Stop being invested in this nonsense till they finally deliver what they have promised 10 years ago, if they ever will.

Half a BILLION! dollars. Not even stable servers at the very least. Look I have some assumptions, one of them is the reason why they're keeping this game in Alpha, especially for this length of time, is because of greed 100% As of right now, selling these ships at these ridiculous prices, is extremely lucrative for them. They are not going to give you the ability to buy a ship in game to permanently keep it and lose their number #1 source of income. Of course not. They damn well know that people wanted them to focus on the PU and FINISH the first batch of ships while adding all the other content as time goes on. Not to put us through a permanent alpha content loop. The sad thing is, they were getting a lot of pressure in the beginning, but over time, it died down. Majority of the original backers don't play as much these days and the complaints don't have the same volume because CIG got a new batch of victims willing to throw money at them because they believe as we did that this game is going to happen soon. Honestly the ONLY remedy for all of this is the No Man's Sky treatment. The player base needs to unite in the forums, phone calls, get the media involved, point out to the media the half a billion dollars that was raised so far and the LITTLE we got for it. Take no excuses and just keep hammering them until they give us SOMETHING! I at this point would prefer server stability, then work on ships, missions, progression, factions ect. I would LOVE to do a trade route and not have the constant fear of a lurking 30k error. Anyways, sorry .. but yeah that is what needs to be done. I don't know if Salt himself or if his connections can help ignite a spark to get this ball rolling. I don't think the people that spent thousands of dollars on those capital pixels could get a refund at this point so I think the media at this point would be our greatest weapon. Unless someone has any better ideas?

I wasn't around when the 'Apollo medvac' was available in the past and read that it was a limited one time sale.
I got to pick one up at 'Invictus', which was great for me ... but ... it must feel a bit salty to people who had to do effort to be able to get one in the past.
CIG has weird ways of interacting with their customers ... like how they're increasing the price of the 'Drake Cutlass' and 'Avenger' in between two big sales events ... not people who want them need to buy them before the 27th of this month, while also having to go buy the limited ships they already planned on getting during the 'Alien week'.
I don't mind the game being in production for so very long and still long to go; what we've already got is way more complexe and feature filled than any other game out there.
E.g. in what game can you store other vehicles in a vehicle with as only limitation that it can physically fit within the ship? I can't think of any.
No loading screens anywhere and the complete experience is 100% cutscene / flow interruptions free. About no single game offers this at this scale.
A rather successful implementation of FPS and flight simulator, survival, ... .
Physical cargo, events like Jump Town, the set pieces usable by ORG and random players to create their own adventures, ...
    ...
Most of the stuff is being pioneered by CIG themselves, especially at the scale at which Star Citizen is intended to operate.
I don't think the game will ever be "finished".
Just like any proper MMO, it will continue to receive improvements and extensions, ... .
While Squadron 42 is a big time and resource sink at the moment ... lots of stuff from that work will be implemented in Star Citizen as a whole ... so it isn't lost time.
    ---
There is a long way to go ... it might be more than a decade before we have a significant amount of star systems ... but ... what we've already got today ... is pretty awesome already.

The interior is actually pretty terrible, they could fit so much more in that cockpit area without having to interfere with the cargo bay or make the ship bigger. I love that RockStar Games example at 36:45, I mean, they've moved a ton of vehicles into a shop that is locked behind their subscription service, yes even already available vehicles have been moved, and now a "bug" appeared that vehicle insurance is not entirely working, but if you lose the vehicle you owned in the game, you get it refunded, but these refunds have to be done individually, so it'll take a lot of time... oh and if it is a vehicle that is now locked behind the subscription and you want that vehicle back, you have to get the subscription first.

That's the dream CIG is milking. Lots of people who stick with SC is hoping for a space-life simulator. But it's clear CIG can't deliver it, maybe because of their own incompetency or maybe because CR's incompetency.
Chris might be a visionary, but that doesn't mean he has the proper ability to make it come true.
If it weren't for Microsoft, he probably couldn't even release a single game. Because tech moves fast and he is constantly busy with remaking stuff or aiming for bigger.
At some point you need to be realistic, make a decision, cut some stuff out or find an easier way to do things. And obviously, you need to either release or make significant progress.
CR / CIG isn't making any progress. They are circling around the same thing for the past couple years now. Even when they add a little bit of content, you see other content getting pulled away. It's over now.

Now before you all call me a hater, please understand that im a Space Marshall backer since the beginning of the concept... I PAY... Hard for this game, so that one day, we all get to play, its been my mentallity for the longest time. But the truth of the matter is that other companies are catching up fast, and soon will exceed Star Citizen. Hell i think even Todd Howard might even have his sight set on Multiplayer for Starfield in the future, it's crazy to think that he wont, giving up this mega opportunity???
Anyways, without the gameplay that im promised, im still waiting for my ships, CIG, please answer a few where is question below:

    Where is my Perseus?
    Where is my Banu Merchantman?

    Where is my Railen?
    Where is my Squadron 42?
Where is the game you promised back in 2013?
Where is the love for those who backed you? Those that backed the ideas of the ships you promised above?
I genuinely pledged for ALL those ships on the list, so yeah... I think i have the right to ask and at times be a little cranky at where the game is headed.
But no more, my latest pledge is the constellation... That is the constellation edition of Starfield. At least they are giving me a real god damn watch....

Is like yesterday I did a Orison multiple repel mission but after landing my 135 on what thought was a glass roof fell through it and i did not stop there.
I finished off the bady's in that location than asked in chat for someone to pick me up so I could jump on top of my ship to get in it to collect all there armour and guns and what they had in there armour.
I had to share the Misson and make a party invite then I paid him 50k.
Then completed my second part of the mission then went back to base and off loaded all that stuff.

Even as someone who only recently bought in and doesn't play a lot, I can see there is no progression in this game. There are lots of primary gameplay loops such as mining, fps combat, ship combat, etc, and that's pretty cool. Aside from that, the only other loop is the long-term one of buying new ships (which you can macrotransaction your way out of), and it has big limitations in that not every player wants or can even use even half of the ships that exist, and it only requires money. Once you buy the ship you want, you've won the game.
A really good primary gameplay loop that doesn't accomplish anything other than number go up is fine (see every arcade game ever), but it doesn't have very long-lasting appeal to any but the most dedicated (again see every arcade game ever).
If you want to make an MMO meant to be played forever, those primary gameplay loops need to feed secondary and tertiary gameplay loops that only those primary loops can give access to. For example, bunker missions could increase your mercenary rating and grant access to higher risk, larger, more complex FPS combat missions. You could earn access to specialized equipment. You could side with a faction and earn stuff related to FPS gameplay from them. The result is more variety in your chosen profession, doled out slowly throughout your career.
I'm really enjoying some of the basic gameplay right now, can't really get it anywhere else, but I have to do a lot of roleplay and pretending to give it purpose and that just can't last forever. I figure I bought a 45$ lifetime arcade pass and I'm happy with that, but I do hope that it'll turn into a full game in the future.

Small parts of the tech is working, but the whole tech is not working as intended or wanted at all.
When even the smallest parts of the tech makes the game crash, crash and crash again, it is totally wrong to say that the tech is working.
And how well are these tiny parts of the tech really working, if they are working at all?
People get to caught up in and lured by the shock they get when they experience the smallest glimpse of something that might be an indication of a tech they are hoping/waiting for, that they think it is working much better than it in reality is, if it is even working at any level at all.
Just because you spawn back to exactly how it was before a crash, it doesn't mean that it is working at all.
If another player that was not on that server before it crashed, but spawn into that server after the crash, goes to that mining site before you spawn back and find it exactly how you left it when the server crashed, then that is an indication the tech is working as intended.
You spawning back into the game after a crash and find it exactly as it was right before the crash, can be an indication of very frequent server saves and not more than that at all.

I’ve been a backer since 2017 and i believe the star is the scale, attention to detail, and aesthetics. The gameplay has never been the star. The beauty in bunkers is the the detailing of every little object and not just textured like other games. But, the AI is atrocious and has barely changed since 3.14. People are able to run bunkers with knives. It’s a bit sad.
I do take very consistent breaks bc it needs massive polish. Prior to 3.18 I hadn’t played since 3.14 which was around 2021. And I’m kind of on a break again now bc it’s still in a very buggy state imo. But I do enjoy it periodically and I do hope one day they’ll release both squadron 42 and Star Citizen.
