      your camera work isn't bad at all, you're in focus and centered in frame 👍for your audio i'd probably look into an actual microphone depending on what kinds of videos you plan on making, if you're going to move around a lot you could get a lavalier mic or an on-camera mic, but if you plan on making content like this you could just get a desk mic as well

    Question.
    Those pre college courses during summer at Cornell seem very pricy. $1500 per credit, totaling to about $5000 per course.
    Do you think it helped you with tye admission?

    • @chodxnielmobile671
      @chodxnielmobile671 Рік тому +1

      I mean it demonstrated his interest in the school and how he could handle a college class, and gave him a lot to write about for his Cornell essay, so I’m sure it did. I’ve been admitted to Cornell regular decision, and wrote about my visit to Cornell over summer break, which most certainly helped me get in as well.

    • @ralphhojr
      @ralphhojr  Рік тому +4

      I’m not an admissions counselor, so I can’t say for sure, but I personally think it did. My thought process was that if I could show Cornell that I could handle one of their classes and do well (A+ was 97.5%), it would help. However, it definitely did help with my essay writing since what I said in the essays became authentic. But also I kind of suck at writing, so that’s another factor 😅. Hope that helps!

Also colleges look at your middle school grades? Any advice on how to get perfect grades and perfect SAT and ACT scores or how to get into ivys in general?

    • @ralphhojr
      @ralphhojr  Рік тому

I want to take an AP science but don’t know how to fit it into my schedule since it takes up 2 class periods. Do you have any tips on what to do?

    • @ralphhojr
      @ralphhojr  Рік тому +2

      Hi! If your schools allows it, since you want to go into medicine, you can drop a subject and replace it with a STEM class. But if that’s not allowed, then there’s always the option to take it at a local community college. Just make sure that you’re able to handle the workload. I would personally recommend a self-paced option if that’s available and you think you can keep yourself on top of the work. Hope that help!

    Hey Ralph, thanks for the excellent video! I'm actually applying to Cornell ED for econ major soon as well as an international student, and I was wondering if I could get some advice regarding different parts of the application. I think I got a pretty similar academic profile as yours with a 4.0 unweight GPA, 9 AP classes with 8 scores of mostly 5s with some 4s, a 1530 SAT and a 114 TOEFL. My parents and counselors kept telling me to improve my standardized test scores further but I feel like now's about the time I focus on making me stand out in other ways among all the Asian students applying who probably all have insane grades and all that. Any thoughts that you'll be able to share?

    I really enjoyed your video! Your video has been very helpful to me! Will be earning my first AA degree in Liberal Arts. I have been working on my AA degree within 6 years. I have been studying at a 2-year college within 7 years. Back in my junior year of high school, I have volunteered as an office assistant at the main office. Also, I have had a shadow job with my dad from his job. It was during the pandemic. I have assisted him taking the notes. It was not a real job, it was a shadow job as a Administrative Assistant. Then, I had stopped working at age 23 because I had to study for college. I am working on my second book which is called My Life Throughout with Autism and Being a Military Child. It will be a same content but different chapters. My dream career is to be an actor and journalist. Acting my dream career at a young age. However, I did not have time to do all that because I had to travel all over the states due to my dad’s job in the military service. I have been to 6 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, 4 high schools, and 3 community colleges. I graduated from high school in the spring of 2016. I have been doing fifteen semesters at a 2-year college as a part time student. I was in the Dean’s List three times in a row. During my first and third time attended to a 2-year college, I did not even take that seriously. From last year during the pandemic, I started to take more seriously in college courses. For right now, my overall grade point average from a 2-year college is a 3.1 out of 4.0 scale. My institutional grade point average is a 3.35 out of 4.0 scale. When I went to another 2-year college for my fourth time, I started to take seriously a little. During my fifth time attended to a 2-year college, I had to take one course at a time due to the pandemic. During my third time attended to a 2-year college, I also took one course at a time before I moved from state to state. When I transferred from college credits from the states of Georgia and Maryland to Florida, I only had 10 credit hours. Back in the state of Georgia, I took one college level math course for management major as getting my technical diploma. Then, I took three college level courses for math, English, and bowling as one elective course. Congratulations on your academics and extracurriculars. That is very impressive that you those things in high school. Back in 10th grade, I was a member of a student in Spanish club for a day. Since I had to move again in 10th grade, I have taken Spanish 1 as my half foreign language credit in 10th grade. I only was in Spanish 1 for a short time because I arrived to Puerto Rico for a couple months to finish out the school year. After I finished 9th grade, I had to switch schools from state to state for another year. I had do a lot of moving due to my dad’s job in the military service. Back in my sophomore and junior year, my dad was overseas in that time. He is technically my stepdad but I always call him dad because he is the man who raised me as a child. Acting and journalism are my dream career. After I complete with my AA degree in Liberal Arts this semester, I will train for acting in the studio. Then, I will be working on my BA degree in broadcast journalism at a 4-year college. Also, I will be doing internship for journalism to receive elective college credits. I used to be good with math and science back in high school. When I went to a 2-year college, I have started to do better in reading and history. Since I am going to be a journalist and actor, I will be working on my reading comprehension to maintain in the higher levels. I will comprehend for reading out loud to myself. That is how I will going to work in the journalism and acting entertainment industry. When I was in grade school, I was more in self-contained courses with special needs students. When I went to high school, I was more in classes at the mainstreams with general education students, but with paraprofessional teachers assisted me on my assignments. It was back in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. Once I get my Finale and ceremony posted on my first book, my first book will be ready to get published soon. I am still working on my second book. It will have the same content, but it might have different chapters. I graduated from high school in the top 10% of my graduation class. I was in the first row going to the stage because I had a outstanding grade point average. I had a 3.7 as a grade point average from high school. I was ranked 28th of my whole school. I was always an honor roll student in high school. I had a yellow cord for being a top 10% of my graduation class. I had a green cord while my dad was deployed during my high school career. Also, I had a white collard for being a member of National Honor Society. I had a certificate of being a member for National Honor Society as well! In high school, I have started to take more seriously. In 9th grade, I did pretty well on my grades. In 10th grade, I did pretty well on my grades. In 11th grade, I did pretty well on my grades. In 12th grade, I did alright on my grades. I did not so bad in my senior year by the way. In my senior year, I was a honor roll student for about a few times. However, I did not received any honor roll certificates since I was a member of National Honor Society in my senior year. My name is Andres by the way. It is pleasure to meet you! Again, you did a great job of your academics and your extracurriculars. It is very impressive. In 9th grade, I was a member of Boys and Girls Club as well! I was a member of Boys and Girls club back in middle school for a few semesters! Including during the summer of when I was in middle school and high school. I was a member of boys and girls in the summer back in 2011 and 2012. In the summer of 2013, I have attended for a few times. I was diagnosed with autism at age 3. It was before I went to preschool. I have been to school within 22 years. If you want to know which states I lived in before, my first book will be ready for you to publish sometime in this coming May. I have been taking theatre and journalism courses at a 2-year college. It was not too long ago. My name is Andres by the way, it is pleasure to meet you! I really enjoyed watching this video because this video has been very helpful to me. Good luck with Cornel University! God bless you and your family. 🙏❤️

      I forgot to tell you that I was born in the city of Buffalo in New York. I lived there in my early childhood until age 5. I was in kindergarten during my first time being in a military move. I grew up with my Spanish speaking family who are from Colombia and Puerto Rico. I was born from my bio parents that are originally from Puerto Rico, and I was raised by my stepdad who is originally from Colombia. I am full Puerto Rican and half Colombian. I speak Spanish and English. Even though I learned Spanish and English at the same time, I learned how to speak more Spanish at age 16 when I first moved to Puerto Rico. I have practiced with basic sentences in Spanish during the summer before going to junior year. I started to speak Spanish fluently at age 18 attended to a 2-year college. For right now, I am taking a Spanish that are for Spanish speakers as well as in last semester. I have taken a CLEP for Spanish language, and I did not do so well. That was why I took a Spanish course for speakers because I already knew how to speak Spanish. I have a brother in my mom’s side. Also, I have four sisters and one brother in my bio dad’s side. They’re all younger than me. Hope you enjoyed my story about my family and how it is like about my early childhood.

    Okay so I’m in my sophomore year and im taking a college credit class, an AP class and an honors class for my junior year I am taking a college credit class, Ap English, Ap U.S history and Forensic science accel and a bunch of health care electives is this good?? Or should I try to challenge myself more to get into my dream school which is Cornell. My grades are pretty steady As and one B and it’s been like this since the start of sophomore year durning my freshman year it was As.

      It sounds like you’re grades are pretty good! I think as long as you’re taking the challenging classes your high school offers and do well on them, you’re in a pretty good spot academically. Best of luck in your high school journey!

    I'm a sophomore and I'm only taking one AP (Comp Sci Principles). I want to take 6 AP's in junior year and 6 in senior year. Is 13 AP's okay?

    • @ralphhojr
      @ralphhojr  Рік тому +5

      13 would be a lot 👀. Also colleges will understand if your school doesn’t offer as many APs, so it shouldn’t really set u back too much if at all.

      Yeah its completely dependent on what APs ur school offers like ralph said. Like I took 1 my sophomore yr and 2 junior yr (i got in via cornell ed to engineering). if ur challenging urself according to ur schools curriculum then i think ur fine and dont stress urself out too much.

      current Cornell undergraduate here! everyone’s situation is different but believe me, you don’t need to have the most APs, highest GPA or be the best at something to get in, try to enjoy high school:)

    hey! congrats on the acceptance! i'm a sophomore right now in HS right now taking ap bio. i was wondering what did you use to study for the ap bio exam? what resources did you find most helpful to do well? thanks and good luck at Cornell!

      I used a Princeton review book and just went through it. But also just to be safe, after I finished the content in the book, I checked the AP curriculum and made sure that each topic on the official website was covered in the book.
      Hope that helps!

    heyy im also self studying comp sci principles. when did u start studying for the actual AP exam and what are your tips. I have an idea of where to start including watching the khan academy course and watching ap classroom videos, but im not fully sure if this is the most effective. also congrats on making it to cornell !!!

    • @ralphhojr
      @ralphhojr  Рік тому

      Yeah ofc! I also used AP classroom, but I also ordered the most updated prep book from Princeton Review just for extra practice. To be honest, I didn’t start studying for the exam itself until the last week because I already had a heavy background from taking AP Comp Sci A the same year. However, both the prep book and AP classroom were very helpful! For studying tips in general (maybe I’ll make a video abt this down the line), I use a modified Notion template regarding spaced repetition to continually test myself in separate units and subunits so I don’t forget anything. It’s a little complicated, but if you want to talk abt this further, my ig is @ralphhojr
