Turkey Biology and Behavior

By understanding the biology and behavior of the wild turkey we can take steps to further preserve and improve population numbers. On this episode of the GameKeeper of Mossy Oak we team up with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the UAM College of Forestry, Agriculture and Natural Resources to capture and study wild turkey populations with the goal of putting more gobblers on the landscape. We also discuss what positive impacts we can make by planting specific types of food plots, predator control, and timber management. Plus a youth turkey hunt of a lifetime on Mississippi public lands.

Re-introducing turkeys, you can say goodbye to Quail and rabbit hunting. I'm 67 and it was 50 years ago, just as TWRA Re-introducing turkeys, was the last time that a covey of Quail scared the living life out of me while walking into my deer stand just before daylight. Its been 40 years, sense rabbit hunting was a thing.

It’s not the turkey Ms fault !! Predation is the main cause of the downfall of quail ! Lands being leased for deer has taken the rabbit hunting game away !

Didn't Arkansas give 10,000 eastern turkeys to another state, probably why we don't have turkeys..
