just imagine somebody gets a glyph shirt and they put it on and go somewhere then they accidentaly touch it and it turns into a light ball and not a shirt
Maybe similarly to spells, the more specified the glyph is the more accurate of an effect it will have. For example, the 'glyph' in the window of the library shows a shooting star which could indicate to its specific activation, whereas if Luz were to learn plant base glyph then it may be more simplistic at the beginning, producing random plants, and then further developing in the series to specify the glyph to a tree or a flower.
@@UltraPurple I agree, and maybe other friends she makes throughout the series will help her either directly or indirectly with more specific spells. I also wonder if there is a possibility that glyphs will appear in the human realm in a different format then from the Boiling Isle. For example in a tablet of ancient mythology from others that may have entered the Isle in the past, this may also give context to the Boiling Isle's history.
Also I have a theory on the reason old magic was forgotten and has stopped being taught. My theory is that after witches evolved their bile sacs the coven system came into play most likely to limit how strong people could be. Then they would seal the magic of a witch so they could only use the magic of their coven this sealing targeting their sac of magic bile. However glyph's don't require the magic bile and in turn likely could not be sealed because the magic came from the island not the witch. Now it is not as if old magic had been completely forgotten I imagine the emperor had something to do with that, he might use glyph's or maybe he just never had his magic sealed to begin with. I am also betting that those in the emperor's coven are unable to disobey him likely a caveat of keeping all forms of magic, The reason I believe this is because in adventures in body swapping when we saw lLlith attempt to brand Eda and what point would there be if they weren't sealing magic, obviously it is the control over Eda the only witch on the boiling isles who has all forms of magic and is not under his direct control.
I was thinking you have a good point to everything but what IF the Emperor was not sealing magic (that'd get a riot on his hands) but limiting it but having the witches limit-seal themselves willingly in covens. Eda being the most powerful because she is NOT in a coven, something the Emperor wants to have happen because if all witches/warlocks had full, unlimited power like the Emperor. He would again find a very real threat to his power, the only ones who would not be limited would be the ones loyal to him and with a balance of overly powerful witches versus limited ones, he would have greater control should anyone like Eda think of themselves above the rules. I imagine that the Emperor doesn't want Eda to become an inspiration or symbol but I think he doesn't realize that Eda has zero interest in doing anything like that (yet) because she has yet to fully bond with Luz and her friends, tho she is starting to already. Can you imagine if all the covens were to realize this, they might fight back and/or even undo the limit-seals and this would put them on the same grounds as the Emperor's chosen. A very slippery slope indeed. Something that I think will happen before Luz goes back home anyway with everyone using their full magic powers and learning the old ways as well as probably taught by the Principal (as he is the oldest teacher that I can think of and can make it happen easily with his authority.) I'm wondering if King is a Fallen King or Prince as his horn kinda reminds me of a broken crown and once the Emperor is defeated, King will be well... @@oprime I really like this idea and I would not be surprised if this plus my theory together had the end game of owl house while not exactly figured out it would be within a reasonable margin or error. Also something you made me consider since the emperor is clearly aware of eda this calls into question an order of events. It begins with did eda get cursed before or after she decided that the one witch one coven thing was wrong, because if it was before than this theory holds no water. What if the emperor was the one who cursed eda because she did not join a coven so this was her punishment. Now I also believe that eda was cursed after her time at hexside the reason I believe is is that in the episode something ventured someone framed when eda is talking to principal bump we see case's on her past deeds and in the first case not only does it show that eda was in the potion track at hexide but it also shows her with orange hair meaning that the hair she has now is likely part of the curse turn her vibrant orange hair to the dark gray. Well yeah. The owl house is connected with the gravity falls universe and Dana Terrance worked on star vs the forces of evil so that's where that comes from
In my opinion the diamond is a component of glyphs that makes it move upwards. Spells with diamonds tend to do that; and the larger the diamond is the more power that upwards motion has. Sort of like a mini-glyph.
In the episode 'Wing it like Witches' as Boscha arrives at Hexside the fireworks going off have a similar image to the fireworks Luz brought from Earth that were used on Warden Wrath in 'A Lying Witch and a Warden' . So that could be a future glyph Luz can use.
I knew there couldn't be only four glyphs. I know this was before that "revelation" but this does indicate that more was happening than we think. I never once noticed the slight edits to Luz's light and ice glyphs. That explains a lot on how she can make different types of ice spells
Although I'm late to this discussion I'll add on to this theory with my own. Since it is almost obvious that Emperor Belos' staff is technological, it is my theory that the staff is designing glyphs or has glyphs inside of its "memory" per se. If this theory holds true if Luz got ahold of his staff she might be able to learn a glyph that can cure curses like Eda's.
Holy... You are right about the snow glyph actually... That bottom part makes the shape of the ice (as seen in se2 ep2 on the chalkboard. A trangle makes a spike, while a rombus (is that how you write that?) makes a pillar. Maybe you covered it already...
in the episode covention 3 of the members of the emperor's coven create an explosion as a demonstration. the explosion they create is the exact same glyph as the firework explosions. it is zoomed in allot but if you look between both of them its obvious their lines match up
7:32 considering that have a diamond instead of the 2 line, the diamond could meat the magic effect Flow outside(similar to the levitation spell of Eda but filling the part with the element), and the 2 lines that form a Orb or ball. So Luz can easly create a iceball spell, even so in the way she use magic(mostly as traps) the Ice pillar is easy to use for her. Luz need a better way to cast fast simple spells (mosly as distraction while she draw bigger spells) like a ring(or other thing) with a seal or a small memo book with pre-draw spell she can active and trow.
I think that the eyes are kind of like the eyes all over Gravity Falls, a way for Bill Cypher to look into what’s happening. If Bill did turn into king then they might just be of zero use or just a nod to the Gravity Falls universe.
I think that the ones that are on the houses are a special kind of old forgotten Glyphs that do specific things, the owl house is alive (hooty) and the library has magic books. Each magic house has one, so they aren’t exactly glyphs that you can use for magic but they can be used in a special way to control houses
I think the levitation glyph is less detailed than others because it's lower level magic, beginner magic that everyone can do. when luz is asking about how covens work, it's said that the witches magic is sealed away from them but they are still able to do simple spells like levitation with greater difficulty
One this I really hated about the owl house was the fact that in the episode young blood old souls, the glyph that luz puts on the petrification statue was supposed to be a nature glyph but the paper showed a light glyph. Now the one thing I notice now is that mistake and it drives me crazy
Hi! I love witchy things so freakin much. Most of the time, those symbols (glyphs) are actually called sigils and people who practice witchcraft in real life use them for all sorts of stuff like protection or amplifiers for certain spells. They can be pretty complicated or super simple but they’re always really pretty and meaningful. #harmnone
I totally forgot about those fireworks! I KNEW they were weird, but it's been a few weeks since I saw episode one and I just didn't put it together! I'm gonna assume there's a basic fire or explosion spell inside, and that's why they're so crazy, like it's layered.
Considering it's now been confirmed that spell circles can be altered by the multiple big confining elements, the possibility of these symbols being spells have raised the roof
Maybe the reason we don’t see the glyphs from Eda is because of her staff. It’s a tool for those who have mastered magic. Therefore the staff could take in the glyph and the only residue is the diamond shape.
In regards to the plot hole you brought up at 6:39, it might simply be that the Boiling Isles' realm/culture uses a different calendar system than the Western Gregorian a lot of us are familiar with. Consider the fact that Hexside is running while Luz should be on summer break. There's clearly no shortage of differences between the two realms- I'm excited to find out what else is different in Season 2.
Major Spoilers on Season 2 Episode 2: Kinda sad none of this turned out to be true, as it's implied the 4 glyphs Luz has discovered are the only ones around, and that the rest of the spells are just a result of combining them. I know it's not good to base a shows quality on your expectations, but having Luz go around and discover more glyphs around her would have been cool.
I actually don't think so. The characters know as much as we do, and it can be just a red herring. If that were true, then the 4 'elements' would be light, fire, ice, and plants. Very peculiar for a basic system, and unlike most cultural systems. And if the only magic that could have been performed was a combination of those 4, then that is very limited. Such as the wailing star or levitation spells. What combination could create that? And why would there be a need for coven systems, if all magic was too simplistic. It would be unlogical for the only 4 to be fire, ice, plants, and light.
@@someoneissomeone7691 I agree. The characters are basically unknowing, unreliable narrators, so we only know as much as they do throughout the show. I strongly suspect there's more than just the 4 glyphs myself.
Don't answer. They're a bot belonging to a hacker. The bot detects accounts that reply to it, and reports them to the hacker, who then hacks their channels. They do this to efficiently search for active accounts
I mean the production code for Escape of the Palisman is 108 and Something ventured someone framed is 109, which wouldn't make sense if 108 aired before 109 plotwise since Luz gets the ban lifted in production code 109... Though I wanna watch the show in the order the creator intended it to air. So it is really confusing for me
Wondering what everyone who watched this video when it came out is thinking of glyphs as of Yesterday's lie. Luz has discovered 5 glyphs (Light, Ice, Plant, Fire, & Invisibility) and we've seen characters using combinations of glyphs like Lilith's ice sculptures.
I think the reason people have magic is cause back in the day everyone did magic like Luz but eventually after generations kept practicing it their offspring adapted to naturally cast spells so I think if Luz keeps practicing magic she’ll be about to cast circles or maybe use hand signs to shape the glyph in the air
OMG, I just realized when Eda found out that amity was cheating she said "a power glyph" that means Luz can also make power glyphs in episode 5 season 1!
I don't understand why she hasn't just been trying to record Eda using spells with her cellphone like the first time. Unless, I'm forgetting it died or got broken at some point.
All luz has to do to learn new spells is since "the intruder" episode where luz learnt her first spell cause her phone cracked all eda has to do is show her another spell luz will record it pause the image and BOOM she will see a new glyph spell and could be the best witch ever all eda has to do is show luz every spell there is or every very powerful spell this is.
Idk if that’s how it really works. Her phone gives off *light* and she was showing a light spell so maybe that’s it. Plus her camera broke. But maybe she can find other glyphs in different ways. Like if there is a glyph on Amity’s abominations that when activated, create an abomination. Though I feel like the broken phone idea could apply to illusions since they are usually tricks of light.
I just realized this but the stained glass window has a shooting star design on it!! Maybe this is why the books came to life when the wailing star passed by
3:17 it looks like there's a glyph on the mirror of blight manor. Why? Because it has the basic features of a glyph: It has a unique style Its a symbol in a circle It has a lot of weird stuff everywhere
the owl demon glyph carved in the house was hooty that's why the house IS hooty. the house gained the magic from the demon-owl liked glyph so the house transform into hooty and the owl demon like glyph might be hooty's true form . who knows
I have a theory about the addition to a spell. The little square causing the spell to take form of a stable Structure, that is why the one spell made a block of ice and in the other case the sell look like neon lights

It could be the Moonlight but it would be an entirely different spell. So the two things aren't necessarily related. Yes it could be the Moonlight but it could also be anything else to.
Eda?
Maybe that was her curse
I think it’s both
@@Anaprince Hooty is basically the entire house and the house is stated to be alive, so I guess it animates the entire house? We shouldn't jump to conclusions here though.
actually since luz can now learn spells through glyphs in nature i feel like the portal they use to enter the human world has a glyph on it
This show is going to be a mystery and a full magic shurades to which they learn what magic when times comes sounds like Gravityfalls And Star vs the force of evil are completely combined so theory is alot we say probably wont be right bc of the mysteries
Well yeah. The owl house is connected with the gravity falls universe and Dana Terrance worked on star vs the forces of evil so that's where that comes from
I NEED MORE EPISODES.
Claudia Wong we all do
Same
I would love to see an updated version of this with the knowledge we now know about glyphs and how they work.
In my opinion the diamond is a component of glyphs that makes it move upwards. Spells with diamonds tend to do that; and the larger the diamond is the more power that upwards motion has. Sort of like a mini-glyph.
I was waiting to see if anyone would mention the glyph in Amity's diary, *_nice_*
In the episode 'Wing it like Witches' as Boscha arrives at Hexside the fireworks going off have a similar image to the fireworks Luz brought from Earth that were used on Warden Wrath in 'A Lying Witch and a Warden' . So that could be a future glyph Luz can use.
Imagine Belos and Luz have been trying to find the glyph combo to go back home and then they find out all needed is 1 quite simple glyph
I knew there couldn't be only four glyphs.
I know this was before that "revelation" but this does indicate that more was happening than we think.
I never once noticed the slight edits to Luz's light and ice glyphs. That explains a lot on how she can make different types of ice spells
>some bird owl like being
Dude its juts literally an owl and the stained glass window is an owls eye like come on.
Since when do owls have a single eye and giant horns?
@@deepcut7788 even if its a magical weird owl, its still an owl
@@CrobatmanIamthenight Right... like a demon.... like I said in the vidoe. So whats your problem?
but the house eye is formed like a cats eye. Owl eyes have round pupils, not slits.
(I doubt that it is a glyph though)
wait... owls are reptiles? that eye is clearly a reptile eye
Firework explosions expand as they ignite so maybe that’s why the glyphs look funny
in the episode covention 3 of the members of the emperor's coven create an explosion as a demonstration. the explosion they create is the exact same glyph as the firework explosions. it is zoomed in allot but if you look between both of them its obvious their lines match up
Anyone else rewatching this and noticing the fireworks look like modified fire glyphs?
Watching this after it being confirmed there’s four glyphs only is kinda funny lol
what about glyph combinations
@@dooda9566 exactly. Glyph combinations. They aren’t actually their own glyphs they’re just different amounts of the four.
@@tundraart2693 yep
@@tundraart2693 and if you twist around rules of glyphs in ways the viewer might not expect you can make pretty much unlimited combinations
I believe the window glyph is what gave the house the ability to come alive, bc it harnessed the power of the moonlight conjuring
I think that the eyes are kind of like the eyes all over Gravity Falls, a way for Bill Cypher to look into what’s happening. If Bill did turn into king then they might just be of zero use or just a nod to the Gravity Falls universe.
2:26 Obvious reason it could not have activated is because.. It's not a flat surface like other spells luz did.
Me: hears “ever so slightly” 7:04
My head: :0 AdVeNtUrE tImE!¡!¡!
Is it evrything stays? Written by Rebecca Sugar?
It’s odd that the fireworks had a glyph, because it’s implied that Luz brought them with her from the human realm
I love the fact slightly different glyphs make slightly differents results
Well the levitation being a simple diamond could be because levitation is a simple spell
I think that the ones that are on the houses are a special kind of old forgotten Glyphs that do specific things, the owl house is alive (hooty) and the library has magic books. Each magic house has one, so they aren’t exactly glyphs that you can use for magic but they can be used in a special way to control houses
Nice, love the part when there's 2 of deepcut in the live promo
I think the levitation glyph is less detailed than others because it's lower level magic, beginner magic that everyone can do. when luz is asking about how covens work, it's said that the witches magic is sealed away from them but they are still able to do simple spells like levitation with greater difficulty
One this I really hated about the owl house was the fact that in the episode young blood old souls, the glyph that luz puts on the petrification statue was supposed to be a nature glyph but the paper showed a light glyph. Now the one thing I notice now is that mistake and it drives me crazy
Did you notice that eda never go to earth he why she is going there
Actually she used to hang out on earth
#harmnone
Maybe the glyphs in the owl house make it…alive? Like how Hootie is the house
Wait...EYE IN THE TREES.hmmm
Nightmare Fuel it seems out triangle friend is back
Watches from within _birch_ trees. Those aren't birches.
@@cedartheyeah.justyeah.3967 maybe he changed his taste
Maybe he likes trees in general?
Squidward Tentacles yeeeeeeessssssss!!!!!!!!!
The glass stained window at the owl house might be what made the house into hooty
“laughs in season 2”
if hooty ends up becoming Luz's staff I'm gunna be so mad
Can’t, it needs to have a palisman- Hooty doesn’t exactly have a place for an interlock.
@@IndependentOreo plus, he's better off as a house demon. who would wanna hear hooty talk constantly on your staff.
That’s not really possible so, no worries
I don't even remember commenting this
In regards to the plot hole you brought up at 6:39, it might simply be that the Boiling Isles' realm/culture uses a different calendar system than the Western Gregorian a lot of us are familiar with. Consider the fact that Hexside is running while Luz should be on summer break. There's clearly no shortage of differences between the two realms- I'm excited to find out what else is different in Season 2.
it would be kinda cool if luz draws the symbols on her body like tatoos
WOAH I LEARNED ALOT IN THIS VIDEO!
Major Spoilers on Season 2 Episode 2:
Kinda sad none of this turned out to be true, as it's implied the 4 glyphs Luz has discovered are the only ones around, and that the rest of the spells are just a result of combining them.
Real quick I have a theory about the owl house stained glass: maybe that spell on the house makes hooty connected with the house
My main question is how the hell can she draw perfect circles
So that's why the emperor has a staff...he can't draw a perfect circle!!!!
@@phuchuynhthien9282 the staff has autocorrect

Waaaaaiiiit, is that "Peace and love on the planet Earth" playing on the background?
Is anyone else gonna talk about how bill ciphers eyes are everywhere in this show
damn, really thought i was the first to discover the spells in the fireworks lmaoo
Hooty
himself looks like a glyph xD
Luz gets old and gets robes with glyphs tailored on them to cast spells on the fly now that would be cool.
The fact that Luz can make a perfect is the most shocking to me, like kid, you have some talent
I think the reason people have magic is cause back in the day everyone did magic like Luz but eventually after generations kept practicing it their offspring adapted to naturally cast spells so I think if Luz keeps practicing magic she’ll be about to cast circles or maybe use hand signs to shape the glyph in the air
My first thought was the Bill Cipher Zodiac circle, It is two concentric circles with specific designs on them.
Galileo Mulling Coincidence I think not
OMG, I just realized when Eda found out that amity was cheating she said "a power glyph" that means Luz can also make power glyphs in episode 5 season 1!
In the Hooty rap video that dismay made to be like “hey watch this series” we saw the window actually act as an eye because it blinked
Ep 5
Those 3 dudes, when they cast lightning fire and water circle
8:26
Those are probably symbols of spirals which is commonly used in witchcraft practice
I don't understand why she hasn't just been trying to record Eda using spells with her cellphone like the first time. Unless, I'm forgetting it died or got broken at some point.
she can still play what is on her phone (with less brighness since it cracked), but the camera is broken.
The library is like the museum in Night in the museum
-comes to life because of some magical thing
-knowledge comes to life
Dude the window literally blinks in the first episode
When I saw ep 1 again I knew that the fireworks were showing a glyph
I’m thinking the beastkeeping magic is those hooty things that Eda used
Can't be the only one who tried these
The sigil of the emperor's coven is probably one
I know there’s not much to look in to
But someone HAS to look Into Luz and Amity’s relationship. Please.
Though I feel like the broken phone idea could apply to illusions since they are usually tricks of light.
bruh why does aminty's wall spell look like the wrapping you put around fruit in fruit markets?
I thought more about those chickenwire fences you buy in rolls.
both those things are used to contain things. its probably just a form of wall
I just realized this but the stained glass window has a shooting star design on it!! Maybe this is why the books came to life when the wailing star passed by
Do you think we will get a booklet of all future canon glyphs?
3:17 it looks like there's a glyph on the mirror of blight manor. Why? Because it has the basic features of a glyph:
It has a unique style
Its a symbol in a circle
It has a lot of weird stuff everywhere
If the owl house window was a spell, I think it would be the spell that Eda uses to summon hooty when she was fighting Lilith
Her name is Lilith.
Cedar Franklin ah yes thank you
When is the Hiatus going to be over!?
Hiatus is over
the owl demon glyph carved in the house was hooty that's why the house IS hooty. the house gained the magic from the demon-owl liked glyph so the house transform into hooty and the owl demon like glyph might be hooty's true form . who knows
I have a theory about the addition to a spell. The little square causing the spell to take form of a stable Structure, that is why the one spell made a block of ice and in the other case the sell look like neon lights
What if the owl glyph is one of the things cursing Eda, I mean it has close similarities to Eda's cursed form
New episodes are coming in may rigth
We don't know for sure, but it is looking like they will be back very soon.
@@CartoonUniverse there is a little more evidence that they are coming with it because.
the owl house will come to Disney+ after season 1 is over which can be read clearly so meaningful more episodes are to come

Also maybe the coven symbols are glyphs
The stained glass 'glyph' could be a glyph that makes Hooty become alive.
