I have the white Amex Hilton Honors solid card with excellent rewards categories and multipliers. I picked up the Amex Platinum so the Surpass would be redundant for me with the Hilton Gold status on the Amex Platinum. I will still use the Hilton Honors card to build up Hilton points for even more value for hotel stays. Excellent content as always! ✊💳

Since I axed my Citi Strata Premier card, I upgraded my Amex Hilton Honors to the Hilton Surpass card the Amex will be a superior earner the rewards categories on the Hilton Surpass cover lots of territory!

I got the Basic Hilton in Feb with a 100k SUB. I have been trying for the Surpass with these elevated Subs but for some reason and in pop up jail 🤷🏻♂️ (only have the Gold and Basic Hilton with Amex). So today I snagged up the Hilton Business because we have a big Hilton stay coming up and want to put the spend on a Hilton card. Goal is to gradually climb the Hilton ladder to hold the Aspire. Good stuff Joe. Im not big on the gift card game. Of course i would get them if i still had the Surpass. IMO, id stick with the no annual fee Hilton over the Surpass... They do know how you got Gold status because they can see how many nights youve stayed. Aspire is hands down the top Hotel card. The Hilton FNC that comes with the Aspire trumps waiting a year to get enough giftcards for a valuable stay

Surpass to get the bonus and free night. Trying to hit a sign up bonus currently so I need to wait a bit. However with groceries, gas and online, it seems like the best card for. I have the Hilton Honor’s it’s my Girlfriend’s catch all. If I got a lucrative offer for the Surpass I might consider it. But more likely to apply for a new Surpass especially since I cannot justify the Business card now.
That’s seems to be the consensus. lol. I only got the Surpass because of the upgrade offer and not being able to get another Amex card. I have been able to get 2 gift cards so far this year. I don’t see the value of the Surpass unless you are willing to spend $15k for the FNC. The Hilton Business Card has a better base earning rate of 5x across the board and if you have an Amex Gold Card then you’re earning 4x MR Points on dinning and groceries (8x Hilton if transferred without a promo bonus). The only elevated category would be gas at 6x. You get Hilton Gold Status with the Business Card too. For most consumers, I would think that they’d be much better off using the $15k spend over 2 or 3 SUBs than a FNC.

I hear you that the redemptions are not the greatest, but you also can get 4 $50 gift cards so it’s not too terrible. lol From what I have seen lately, Hyatt still seems the one to have the better value in terms of redemption. Wyndham isn’t too bad if you book in certain parts of the country or better yet if you travel abroad , the Wyndham Earners Business card is incredible!

Aside from the the max credit / limit on amex cards... You also save a 5/24 slot... I am guessing you already have all the Chase cards you want. Other financial institutions are learning from Chase and tightening up on issuing new credit to consumers that are often seeking credit.

I got no the annual fee Hilton Honors card and the Hilton Surpass card when annual fee was $95 in June of 2023. I was annoyed/surprised the Surpass card does not have the word Surpass anywhere on the card front or back. Thus, if you have both you should indicate on the card somwhere that it is the Surpass card so you don't confuse it with the Honors card.

Hola uncle Joe! I have the no annual fee Hilton Honors and the business Honors. I was thinking of cancelling the business after the changes, but I’m still thinking. I think it might make sense to keep the business. I might keep my Hilton duo. Or the other option that I see is to keep my no annual fee and get the Amex Platty for the gold status
How are Chris?! Hola!! You can’t go wrong either way. I used the basic Hilton with the Amex Plat and it worked fine with Gold status. The multipliers are better on the Surpass than the basic card that’s why I got it. It also gives you $200 that you can get Hilton Gift cards for each year. I love the Apsire but it’s a lot of $! I think you should keep the duo you have and not spend the $695 for the Platinum. Unless you will use the lounge access and its credits . Thank you for sharing! 😊
Got the business card 2 months ago (pop up jail for thr regular cards). Then came the changes 😄 Fine. Ill be staying at a few Hiltons this year, so the credits will work for me. Got the first credit on a gift card almost at the last minute. Now, should i go for the Surpass or Aspire? Decisions decisions.

Spending $40K on the Surpass for Diamond Status is not worth the spend. Now a different case can be made for spending $15K annually to get a FNC. At a minimum you would be earning 45K points + a FNC that can be worth hundreds if not over $1K value.

For the $200 quarterly credit: Would I be able just but $50 gift cards every 3 months and accumulate them and use them to purchase future trips? I'm assuming quarterly as in Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, Jul-Sep and Oct-Dec.

What they explained is that I have the Platinum, The Green, The BBP, the Marriott Bonvoy Business, The Business Gold, and the Amazon Business Prime and the Hilton Surpass. So on the non-charge cards I have over 70k in credit. I can get other cards, but would have to drop a card for them to give me another one. I guess they have some sort of threshold for amount of cards when factoring income .

Thus, if you have both you should indicate on the card somwhere that it is the Surpass card so you don't confuse it with the Honors card.

Hola uncle Joe! I have the no annual fee Hilton Honors and the business Honors. I was thinking of cancelling the business after the changes, but I’m still thinking. I think it might make sense to keep the business. I might keep my Hilton duo. Or the other option that I see is to keep my no annual fee and get the Amex Platty for the gold status
How are Chris?! Hola!! You can’t go wrong either way. I used the basic Hilton with the Amex Plat and it worked fine with Gold status. The multipliers are better on the Surpass than the basic card that’s why I got it. It also gives you $200 that you can get Hilton Gift cards for each year. I love the Apsire but it’s a lot of $! I think you should keep the duo you have and not spend the $695 for the Platinum. Unless you will use the lounge access and its credits . Thank you for sharing! 😊
Got the business card 2 months ago (pop up jail for thr regular cards). Then came the changes 😄 Fine. Ill be staying at a few Hiltons this year, so the credits will work for me. Got the first credit on a gift card almost at the last minute. Now, should i go for the Surpass or Aspire? Decisions decisions.

I love the Surpass . The gift cards alone are worth it. I also stay at other chains so I don’t want to spend $550 for a card. lol. Let me know what you end up doing! Thanks again!
Spending $40K on the Surpass for Diamond Status is not worth the spend. Now a different case can be made for spending $15K annually to get a FNC. At a minimum you would be earning 45K points + a FNC that can be worth hundreds if not over $1K value.

For the $200 quarterly credit: Would I be able just but $50 gift cards every 3 months and accumulate them and use them to purchase future trips? I'm assuming quarterly as in Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, Jul-Sep and Oct-Dec.
Hi Ryan! Yes you can! I have already collected 3 gift cards for $150 and the last one will be in October. I actually put the reminders on my phone just to make sure I don’t miss out. It’s a great deal! Thanks for watching and commenting!

I'm just wondering if I get more cards I wouldn't want to get declined so I was kind of curious. What's your idea of like the rough estimate of what they declare? Lmaoooooooooo! Brian I’m dying here! That’s hilarious!! I’m 57 but 25 in my heart and soul! What they explained is that I have the Platinum, The Green, The BBP, the Marriott Bonvoy Business, The Business Gold, and the Amazon Business Prime and the Hilton Surpass. So on the non-charge cards I have over 70k in credit. I can get other cards, but would have to drop a card for them to give me another one. I guess they have some sort of threshold for amount of cards when factoring income .

@Brianpeckin I was just going to add Chase to the conversation. They must use a percentage of your credit line to your reported income. They give out decent amounts . But to be honest, how many more cards do I possibly need! 😂 I’m at 20 active cards. It’s a headache to keep track of monthly. 😂😂
