Whiteline Swaybar Install and Comparison on my 2020 WRX

- The is the first part of the real suspension mods to my WRX. I'm a little disappointed in how the comparison showed up on video and the screenshots from them. I did notice a more planted feel in the corners after installation so I don't think my comparison was a particularly fair test to truly show the difference.

Great video friend ! For anyone’s doing this installation on car lift when wheels are not touching ground, it’s suggested that final tightening and adjustment must be done when car is standing on ground that will prevent unnecessary squealing or noises from suspension working while driving.
Whiteline sway bars are good quality 👍🏻 great choice ! Cheers🇨🇦
There's no difference because the End links are placed at the standard setting, they should've been on the holes closest to the bar as a stiffer setting.
Just took mine off for the winter. Same ramps but I jacked the rear from the trans mount. Pulled the bar off with a fancy twist and no mid pipe nonsense.
very informative...thanks
thanks for this!
You mentioned alignment. Is an alignment necessary after installing sways end links?
does everyone choose Whiteline because it is the best bar or because it is fairly priced? or both? Lots of other company bars out there, but Whiteline, from our Aussie friends, seems to be the defacto go-to for sway bars. They make good stuff and I have plans for their rear arms and springs as I'm a set it (once) and forget person and coilovers are too much work on a daily driver
It would be hard to convince me that there's much of a difference between products in that price range. I went with them just because of the good things I've heard of the customer service and the fact that they are everyone's go to brand (for reasons unknown to me)
Super pro makes excellent stuff but is now owned by whiteline.
When you did your sway bar did you have an issue tightening down the endlinks. I had a hell of a time getting them tightened down
If I remember correctly I either used a ratcheting wrench and an allen key to tighten them or I just zipped them on with my impact. It's been too long to remember honestly but they didn't stand out as being annoying to do
Me too!!! there was no nut to stop the bolt from spinning. WL shows it on their website and SubiSpeed says there is a 12mm nut there... but my kit didn't come with any nut for that.
On Whitelines own paperwork, it says to not grease the sway bar bushings and if you did, to remove it.
Perhaps I should have read that... I did have a problem with the sway bar moving left and right on me. Certainly because of the grease...
I went with the Perrin 22 mm adjustable with endlinks. My car definitely rotates more. I can see in the video that your car from side to side is different. I also used the middle and from Perrin, they claim 85% stiffer. At stiffest (closes), it acts like a 23mm bar and is approx. 140% stiffer. I have a STi and so if I set the DCCD to rear biased, then the car rotates perfectly. I can see for WRX owners where they don't have the DCCD, to go max stiffness or even to the 25 mm bar to increase stiffness to 150% or middle to 220%.
what is the stock sti sway bar size?
@@tian2339 2015 is 20mm but for the 2019+, I saw that they lowered it to 19 mm. There is a great thread on NASIOC. I'll attach a link if I find it again
@@daviddoan9447 thank you! I have a 20 STI and trying to figure out what sway bar I should go with to reduce body roll.. I purchased a 20mm white line but not sure if I should return it for 22mm.
@@tian2339 definitely go with a 22mm adjustable. I am not sure if Whiteline has one or they may have a 22mm non adjustable. I'd recommend Perrin as that's what I'm using and set to mid settings for 22mm. It rotates well. So definitely go 22mm for sure.
I have 2020 STI too, does anyone recommend replacing the front sway bar as well?
I don't know much about WRX, but sure 22mm isn't that far from stock size. And looks like your rear had less roll and your front had pretty much the same. So a 22mm in the rear ain't gonna do much for the front.
how bout noises ??? ... I have gone through 3 sway bars ( Whiteline 24mm being one of them ) and EVERY FREAKING ONE makes either a snap ... thud ... or clunk ... have used Kartboy end links with every single one but when I eventually decided to just throw the factory bar back on with Kartboy end links NO MORE NOISE ... I don't know what it is man ... but it pisses me off because of all the damn money I have now wasted
Even after months of driving I have no noise. I'm not sure what your issue may be. There was a bit of noise when my end links were loose but nothing from the sway bar
I found the nut on the end link connecting the swaybar would loosen after a few days.
I'm going to add a nylon washer between the bar and the metal washer to allow the bar to pivot. Hopefully this will prevent the nut coming loose and getting clunking noises.
@@fredp13004 ... shiiiiit ... let me know how that goes G ... I been thinking of throwing the 24mm Whiteline sway bar back on given it gave me LEAST amount of noise but I'm going to lube the ever living shit out of it with every single bottle of lube Autozone Napa and O'riley have to offer ... along with what you say you are going to do given it works
@@fredp13004 you are supposed too blue loctite every nut and bolt….. if you didn’t. Start there…. Lol
@@Datsuncrazy206 Ended up tightening the nut properly with a long ring spanner. So far so good. If it loosens again, the blue loctite is a great idea.
I took the wheels off to remove the sway bar 😎
Doesn’t look like there’s much of a difference if any at all.
Yeah I should have had more controlled conditions like cones and a recorded speed. Kinda dropped the ball on that but figured I would throw it in anyway. I did feel a difference in the handling so I don't believe the comparison I did does much justice to the mod
Looks like a.bit of a hassle
They didn’t show a massive difference because you weren’t even driving it hard.
quit bumpin the mount! i wish i could thumb down this video. that bump and the wrenches hitting the floor was super annoying.
U can Thumb down Mr picky
You can put your thumb where the sun don’t shine bruh
