This was the most relaxing somatic tracking I have done 🙌🫶😍 thank you so sooo much for this video 🙏 your voice, calm ,kind manner and description as you talked was so great 🙌 have saved it to do again 😀 I've done a neuroplasticity brain retraining course which was truly amazing and I owe everything to it for where I am now. I've come a long way (did severe cfs)But I still do alot of sensations and I still du fear and preoccupation around them. The brain retraining is supposed to move ppl out of that but I'm finding deep down I'm duing stuck on the fustration /fear/uncertainty about the sensations . Maybe somatic tracking can help ? Do u have any advice or other longer somatic tracking videoss -i really love your style 🙌🙏 many thanks 😊

Thank you. Keep practicing with short time periods. When we feel frustrated there is a compulsion telling us to do more but the real message in that moment is to do less. It’s very counterintuitive to move in the opposite direction. Little and often is great. Consistently is key. I’m going to record another of these with less talking so watch out for it. 😀

I have alexithymia and naming a feeling or emotion is extremely difficult if not impossible depending upon my current sensory experience. What other things can I do besides name a feeling or emotion?

Notice the feeling and decide if you consider it unpleasant or pleasant. Then decide if you could practice feeling neutral about it. Indifferent. Neither here nor there. Just a sensation that doesn’t need a name but that I’m ok with noticing and observing without and need to react to it. I am safe.

Which of the other videos is good to do when pain is worse than low, or to practice when in a situation you usually associate with greater pain?

Have a look at the messages of safety video in the Facebook group Stephanie. I’ll upload it here soon. Somatic tracking is best for low or when you anticipate a future event/pain/fear/anxiety and you practice before so you can rationalise any sensations that appear as you imagine the event.
If pain is higher, then you are allowed to use what you always use, but if you could choose to do something that is an entirely different response to the default, your brain will be surprised by that. If it is a genuinely calm activity then it doesn’t matter whether it’s a word, breathing pattern or movement, it starts to wire an association with the pain and something calming rather than aggravating. The aggravating activities are also words, breathing patterns and movements but based in fight, flight freeze or fawn reactions and pretty much automated.
Breathing slowly is scientifically found to be one of the most effective starting points.
You could also consider the 54321 technique if you search that video out, or you can use a place, or person who makes you automatically feel safe.
If you can’t see them in reality then imagine them.
Anything that takes you towards safety.

Can this process help with nerve pain?

Hi Denise yes any pain that has been present for over 3 months and any serious pathology has been excluded, can be helped with this.
