Thank you for yet another terrific video! Perfect combination of concise description and visual illustration of slot canyon formation...can't believe how much I learned in 4 minutes!

Thanks Shawn! I've been in this canyon countless times. I knew some of those things, but it's always a pleasure to hear an expert speak on it. I would love to hear an even more in-depth explanation sometime!

Hi Adam. Good idea. I will work on a more in-depth presentation on slot canyons, incision rates, etc. Stay tuned!

@@shawnwillsey There's also the safety factor that a lot of people from other places are unaware of flash floods and how dangerous they can be -- the one that hit Hildale and Zion back around 2015 if I remember correctly took 21 lives in a single day. There was another significant loss of life in Antelope Canyon near Page back in 1997 with 11 deaths -- the water was said to be 40 feet high in places.

It looks like Land of the Lost around there. One of my favorite parts of the US.

And the last thing you want to hear in a slot canyon? Thunder!

The lobes that you point out at 3:06. Are they facing down stream or up stream? Or to put it differently, are you pointing down canyon or up canyon at that point?

How do you find the time to teach and also go goof off and film all these videos?
Not that I mind, but you're everywhere!

A lot of these are done when I am traveling or doing outdoor activities. It’s pretty easy to tack on a video or two when I am out and about.

Shawn, is there any information on how much (toxic) gas and heat that was liberated from the ancient Large Igneous Provence's and correlations with mass excitations?

Amazing, sometimes more like a cave. Don't you ever come across a snake ?

Occasionally. One time, I encountered a great horned owl in Buckskin Gulch slot canyon and had to figure out how to squeeze past him with 3-4 feet of space.
