I watched this video more than a year ago but today is the first time I tried r2000db with socks on the rear bass port. The sound is cleaner and more balanced. Thank you for the tip!
The thing is you shouldn't have to resort to putting socks in your speakers in the first place. This says a lot about Edifier quality.
Watched a ton of videos about this speaker and yours is the greatest and I mean it, really appreciate your time on this bro!
That pause-pose was epic, sir! Excellent content -- technical but comprehensive!
Edifier should sponsor you - you just sold these speakers 🔈 to me. I just bought my first turntable and I will be looking for speakers next. These seem like a good match for me with sound quality and aesthetics.
it works! good thing I saw this video of yours! Thank you so much!
Brilliant review. Love the sock trick!
Very amazing review, I like the sock trick.
I was about to get the R1800DB but this convinced me to get the 2000bd instead, it was just a $35 extra
This is the best and most real review i ever watched, thank a lot
Thanks for your kind words !
amazing review bro
excellent review, seems honest and fair. thanks!
That's a great review. Thank you very much. I was considering buying this but you sold me. keep it up man.
Glad I could help ;)

Great review man.. Just purchased the r2000db and with the socks hack it sounded great... Even without subs the bass is adequate for movies in my small living room... Thanks man...
R2000DB vs S.M.S.L. SA300 + Wharfedale D 310(320). Which one solution will sounds better?
Thanks! This was really informative!!
Really appreciate your expertise. I just tried the socks trick, it's brilliant. It's like a magic boundary for the bass. It got cleaned up so much. I guess socks are staying in there. Enjoy this speaker on an other level now. Thanks
What does the sock trick do?
@@edmondsamuel51 Gives a nice cheezy hit to the environment around them.
Thanks for the great review.
Glad this video exist
Starting out a home studio , and wasn’t feeling comfortable buying other brands until I came up on these. The only drawback is the bluetooth - I prefer line in . But I shall confide in your word
Thanks for the review sir !
You could also take a look at the JBL LSR 305, they blow the R2000db out of the water for a similar budget, if you don't need the other features.
That was so helpful, thank you

I play bass guitar at full volume on mine. They're holding up! Very solid !

Stumbled on this review while looking for something to replace my M-Audio AV-42s which have just died after a decade of daily use. I think with the sock trick and my current budget this convinced me to go for it with these
Very nice video, and review. You are almost the best.
Great review!
Awesome review
Thank you :)
Hi! Really good review of the speakers. I think you should review more 'budget' speakers. It was a really interesting take coming from the ears of a sound engineer with exposure to very hi end gear. Looking forward to your next speaker review! Surprised to see the sub count. Subscribe guys! Seriously, this guy is really good.
Thank you ! I'll get in touch with Edifier, Swan and others once the channel is a little bigger, I enjoyed making that review 😎
Good review!
Thanks for your review 👍😬
My pleasure ; )
First useful review
I asked for these for Christmas after seeing this review a couple months ago. I then saved my parents about 100 bucks getting it on Cyber Monday from Amazon so it was even more of a steal. They sound Amazing. I tried your sock method but I used the foam block of the insulated cylinders block offs from my giant svs sub instead. You're so right it, just clears right up once you do this but they still sound very good if you don't. Anyway so I set the treble and bass to neutral and for 150 Canadian I love them for my computer. Hell they are almost as good as my Marantz/Polk/SVS Home theater I built in my living room in 2.0 mode. They are also almost as good as the Paradigm 2.1 system I was using on my computer but at a fraction of the cost. Note I melted the built in amp on the system somehow on the Paradigms. I love those speakers but I am not purchasing another paradigm self powered system again after that exp.
Anyway thanks for the review. I was worried that I was going to need to purchase the Edifier speakers with a sub out for the low end but these are plenty fine. They are almost as set it and forget it as the Paradigm system was but considering how much money was saved I don't mind a few minutes of tinkering. If these die after several years I am just buying this brand again, It's a phenomenal product for the price. My only gripe is the remote. It should be a chunkier, use AA or AAA batteries and be in a bright color incase you lose it. And you are SOL if you do cause there is NO WAY TO SWITCH SOURCES WITHOUT THE REMOTE! I'm sorry but that is stupid. If they are going to do that I want a decent large remote. Not something like you get from a garbage Apple TV. Note I also had the same experience with the Paradigm too and that really burned cause that was a 1500 dollar CAD system at the time.
As it stands I may see if I can purchase another remote as a spare just encase.
You can buy spare remotes, I saw them on AliExpress and eBay, although I agree with you, it's too flimsy. I changed to jbl lsr305 monitors on PC (a touch better but nothing spectacular, mostly low end goes a little deeper), but the Edifiers are now in the living room, still working great two years later. Thanks for the feedback!
@@StirfriedGerman No optical in so they wouldn''t work for me. I do love JBLs though. I was using a JBL xtreme portable bluetooth speaker for a while when my paradigms died. Now that's a workhorse. It has limitations but I have yet to kill the thing after owning the refurb one I purchased 6? years ago.
@@loganholmberg2295 You can change sources by pressing the volume knob on the back of the right speaker. I had the same problem, and this was the solution I found. I totally agree with you though, the remote should be better.
The sock! Wow, thanks ;) I'm in China too BTW
Nice review! I did some work in the past at "The Annex" in Palo Alto CA and I am hoping that these Edifier speakers will give me something close (I'm not expecting the same experience but close would be great). What software/hardware do you use for mixing?
Cheers,
Jeff (Garage Maker Guy)
Thanks, I would recommend that you look at JBL LSR 05 MkII. A part from dynamics, they're very potent and blow the Edifiers out of the water in Sound Quality. I'm using Studio One Pro 4 and several interfaces, Focusrite 2i2 and a Chinese one that must be an Audient clone because it looks similar and sounds awesome (Gottomix MC608). I only use plugins, and a Beyer DT880 headset.
Thank you - excellent, thorough review that helped me decide to purchase these speakers. I'm extremely pleased with their sound and I did follow your tips re the placement of socks and eq settings - definitely felt this created a superior result. In your review you suggest that these Edifiers, after stated adjustments, might also work well as home studio monitors. I'm really thinking of buying a second pair, as I'm in the process of setting up a home recording studio. I love the sound of these speakers, I just want to make sure that if used for mixing they will translate well to playback on other speakers. Do you think this will work, or do you have any other suggestions?
Cool glad I could help :) For your home recording setup they can work, but if you have the budget and space, I would recommend going for 8" speakers with the extra bass extension although that depends on your style of music too. The Edifiers translate very well so no issue there and you could check the very low end on good headphones or even just with a spectrum analyzer in your DAW. In a rising budget for 8" models, I like Presonus Eris E8, Mackie XR824 and Genelec 8050 BPM of the ones I have heard.
Thanks so much for taking the time to answer. I will check into your recommendations.
Excellent review, I applied the sock trick, and now the bass feels much better, but I'm wondering if it can damage the speaker in the long run, regards
Absolutely not, there's no risk for the speaker.
Hi there! Thanks for the review!! Do you think these speakers would work fine in a living room connected in a turntable? I have a old Sony home theatre, and it is occupying a whole bunch of space (3 speakers, the subwoofer and the receiver). I want something simple but still with good sound quality to substitute. Thanks!
I don't see why not ! Go for it.
Just use the remote and select Classic mode. This is the flat FR. It defaults back to dynamic mode every time you switch them off. This explains the exaggerated bass and treble.
Yes well .... no, .... in classic mode bass and treble are way exaggerated. To get a somewhat flat response, you need socks or other means of stuffing the bass port. Dynamic mode is more a volume adjustment. Not to mention that I lost the remote ....
Is it really so? Classic mode resets after switching off? It sucks.
No it doesn't reset for me, it stays in the mode I selected. The volume resets however.
I think I'm going to pick a set of these up as studio monitors. Thanks for a great review. To those using these to mix, any + or - to share?
I don't know at what price you're getting these. But I've since changed to the JBL LSR 305 Mk II, they're a good bit superior to the R2000DB especially on the bass extension which is impressive for 5" woofer, with an overall more balanced sound. In fqct, they're shockingly good for their price. You lose the multiple input options and the remote, but for pure studio, I'd go JBL if the price gap is not too big.
Don't forget to plug the ports on the Edifiers if you're getting these. They seem indestructible, I've practiced hours of bass at full volume on them.
Great review even 4 years later. I'm strongly considering buying these to replace my Audioengine A2s. Would you say there is anything better than these for the price? I know it's 4 years later but these are still on sale for good reason I assume.
Thanks ! I don't know the current line-up with the same form factor and price segment. If you need Bluetooth and slanted design, they're certainly a good choice.
I replaced them with studio monitors, JBL LSR305 MkII. Those price performance miracle speakers are superior sonically and louder, but you don't get Bluetooth or remote control functionality. It really depends at which price you can get them at.
It might also depend on where you live. JBLs are $109 a piece on Amazon USA versus $329 for the Edifiers. If you can live with studio monitor functionality, it's a no-contest for the JBLs.
I have an audio interface but do u think should i use it to connect to the edifier or not ? For multimedia purpose like music and watching films
It will probably sound better through the audio interface, unless you can use digital out on your PC, the DAC on the Edifiers is pretty good. I had them setup with Focusrite 2i2.
Sup! Were you testing the speakers close to the wall (e.g. 1:08)? Wouldn't that cause the lows to be unnecessarily muddy?
I tried them freestanding too, bass response is still exaggerated. Rear bass reflex port is not ideal when set against a wall but angling them helps tremendously. It then depends on what your room does with the reflections. For nearfield usage they're good angled with socks in the ports.
Hi, great video. Could you please tell me are these better than the ADAM T5V monitors???
The Adam are probably better.
nice review man,i think you have to move the speakers far from the wall and it will lessen the bass overall..keep making reviews man.respct from Phillipnes.
Thanks! I tried them free standing in my living room (80sqm) before using them on my desk, trust me, the socks work miracles :)
Hi, thank you for the review. Superbly done. Sir, what is the socks all about? Can you explain. Thank you in advance.
Better late than never 😅 The socks dampen the bass response a little, making the speakers a little more neutral.
@@StirfriedGerman Thank you Sir
Hello...great review! Can I use this as my electric drum kit monitor? Thanks in advance for your response :)
I played bass through them at full blast
I was planning to get these for my Vinyl Record Player. I currently own the JBL Boombox. Is there a significant difference? If not, i can hold out on the purchase. Thanks in advance!
I haven't heard the boombox, so I can't really comment.
I just bought these speakers. Should I use BT on my iPhone for best sound quality or hook them up some other way?
There is no version of Bluetooth that produces really good quality but it's awfully convenient. Alternatively a wired connection with a dongle would sound better.
You can connect optical cable and that’s going to be your best bet by far
I've recently purchased these speakers and have been driving them via Foobar2000 with the ASIO driver in 64 bits mode while feeding them through an Oppo HA2 SE DAC, mostly using HiRez FLACS and DSD files, they are properly insulated, separated, and 5 inches away from the walls... they are awesome for the money but you have to be aware of their characteristics Ie, limitations, meaning these are ACTIVE speakers and they need to be properly broken in and calibrated...
I recently replaced them with JBL LSR305 II studio monitors because I needed a bluetooth solutio for the living room, that's where the Edifiers are now. I'm going to do a side by side video. The JBL blow the Edifiers away, but without the functionality (multiple inputs, remote), and at a higher price of course, here in China more than double, The Edifiers are absolutely awesome for the money.
@@StirfriedGerman Indeed they are! We must also consider the fact that for those of us who don't usually fiddle with oscilloscopes and what not the ultimate sonic results depend on your set up, your music tastes and subjective perceptions, so... if you like them, enjoy them!
@@StirfriedGerman Hi, great review! I have subscribed, but I see you are currently inactive on the video making side of things :( Do the JBLs also need to get the sock treatment, if they are close to a wall? In Australia there is only about $100AUD difference between the Edifiers and the LSR305 II, so I guess the choice is clear.
Thank you for your nice review mate. I have a pair of Mackie's CR5-BT and I intend to buy these Edifier's. Do you believe , it is worth it or not ? I mostly use them as my main stereo system in my home, as well as TV use. I am very satisfied with the Mackies, with little tweaks mostly in the upper base, they play very well. So, a few questions for you.
1. Do you use dynamic mode or classical for listening music ?
2. Is it better to use socks (I have used them in past in bigger driver speakers with rear port, because I place them near wall), or a fully adjustable equalizer like APO Equalizer, which I now use with Mackies ?
3. As I saw, R2000DB have an internal DAC, but not USB input, like Edifier S880. How can I connect them to laptop, in order to make use of the high res DAC ? My laptop does not have an optical output.
4. With Mackies I use the following DAC www.kingrex.co.uk/dac.html. I believe is is better than without it. Is it better to use it with Edifier's also, or not ?
5. Distance between 2 speakers are 1,35m and listening position about 2-2,20m. Are Edifiers good for that triange ?
Thanks one more time..!!
Sorry for the delay, I never saw your comment ...
1. Classical
2. Socks are better, they even out the speakers, that port on the back is plain unnecessary
3. You can probably find a cheap SPDIF USB dongle
4. That's a nice DAC you have, compare and trust your ears
5. They spread like studio monitors, so ideally you should spread the speakers more or sit closer :P
@@StirfriedGerman Thank you very much for your answers mate..!!
@@StirfriedGerman so Classic mode for listening, and Dynamic for music making?
@@ferez1985 I've always used classic with socks.
@@StirfriedGerman thanks for the reply, i bought this speakers after watching your review :) i find Classic to sound more dull than Dynamic and to have less bass, is that how it is for you too?
If i put the sock, switch to Classic, and also put the Bass dial on 9 o'clock, there's nearly no bass left.
One more question that I hope you will answer. I'm just starting out so this may be obvious, but the RD200's have 3.5mm headphone outputs or dual RCA outputs - how does that hook up to the audio interface, for example the Focusrite one that you mention?
I bought a cable that features 1/4" unbalanced jack on one end and RCA on the other. I think it cost a whole US$ 2, should be easy to find :) Most audio interfaces support unbalanced out, and if you need an interface, the Focusrite 2i2 is excellent with the most stable ASIO drivers I've come across, highly recommended.
Thanks so much, your review and advice is golden.
Do you really need a Focusrite Scarlet for average everyday use (gaming, listening to Metal) on a PC, with today's motherboards that have good enough onboard audio controller?
Onboard audio is OK depending on the chipset. You'll probably miss a volume knob. Other than that, it's perfectly fine.
This is a great review; thank you.
As mentioned, the bass is WAY exaggerated on these things and the mid-range is lacking. A lot of noise from a little space, but it also sounds like a little space. I really struggled to place these speakers in a way that could fill the room in a non-distracting way, but the included 2nd speaker cable was long enough to do so.
The volume control is on the back, which is disappointing, and nearly all the functionality needed to operate these speakers is only found on a tiny cheap infrared controller; super lame. Bluetooth works once connected, but its connection setup is less than ideal; seems to work well with an Amazon Echo Dot though once set up.
There is no external amp support?, so using them as just speakers with a receiver is complicated at best. Glossed sides make them not easy to move around, albeit okay looking.
I'm not a big fan of the bright blue LED right in front, but you can hide it a bit with the grill attached. I feel like I've been spoiled by much better speakers throughout my life, so although these might be good value for money, they are just okay in the grand scheme of things. I'll be looking to upgrade soon enough.
Thank you for the Sock tip. I'll let you know how that goes.
Thanks ! These speakers have a narrow projection, that's why they're hard to place in an open field situation. Their slanted design is ideal for close range, so really for desktop or near field monitoring where you want a narrow projection. With socks, and listening to them in the sweet spot, they sound great. Outside of the sweet-spot, well ... :p
You could use the pre-out on your receiver, but I'm sure you realize that that's an ever fading enthusiast market niche these days :-) Although their low end is quite impressive considering their size (I practice 5 string bass on these at full volume and enjoy the sound), you could add an active subwoofer for a larger room.
The midrange is there, it's just muffled by the exaggerated bass.
@@StirfriedGerman the socks do help!! Thank you for that tip. Much more neutral, clean, and balanced.
But the projection as you noted limits their application to perhaps desktop speakers, if you have the room for them. My triple monitor setup kills that possibility for me.
My mistake really for thinking these would fit my needs, but they were a black friday flash sales splurge.
@@steve_seguin I guess your only choices would be headphones or a sound bar with triple monitors. I'm regularly thinking about adding just a second monitor but keep not pulling the trigger because I want great desktop sound :D To each their own :P
@@StirfriedGerman So more of an update: I downloaded an iOS app called Dynaudio Meter (free), played some pink noise over the speakers, and then calibrated the speaker's a bit to get the EQ as flat as possible to where I sit in the room. With socks stuffed in, I ended up with the bass at the 10:30 position and treble at 12:00.
Anyways, I do normally use headphones with my desktop setup, something like the Sennheiser HD 598's strike a good balance for me: comfort, price, sound, no fancy amp needed. I have other headphones (HD650, HD280, HE400, M50), but I find them more fatiguing. A headphone stand on the side of the monitor keeps them out of the way when not using them.
I bought these speakers though as I have an Amazon Echo Dot and I thought it would be nice sometimes just put on some background music now and then with a less complicated setup, as compared to my old school receiver setup that chugs power. After your tip with the socks, I think I'll be content with my purchase though.
Can you please review the edifier 1850dbs they have a lower bass I think but would like to have your views. I'm conflicted between the 1850 and the 2000.
I would love to but I don't think they will send me test units. From looking at the specs, it's a similar technology tweeter albeit smaller. The 5" woofer seems to not go as low but they designed these with an additional subwoofer in mind. Personally I don't like front facing venting ports but they make placing them easier. If you're space restricted, they could be a good solution but their tech specs like THD or frequency range are not as good as R2000DB but I'm sure they sound good from what I read. Hope that helps
lower bass? the r2000db have better frequency response, but the 1850 have a sub out.
@@alexhancock9738 Sure, if you add a sub, the bass response should be better (depends on the sub). The 2000s are pretty linear at +-3dB, not specified on the 1850, keep that in mind.
Thanks for the nice review! Will these speakers do me good for my Korg Krome arranger keyboard and Korg SP250 digital piano? I really need something very affordable to monitor them on my late night singing here at home.. (no neighbors) Or will the Edifier R1280DB do? (Cause it's more affordable) Greetings from the Philippines!
Hi Brian ! I play bass on them so they should be able to handle your keyboards, actually they handle Omnisphere loud enough to bother me. Not sure they could take your voice though if you mic yourself up. With the R1280 you'll lose a little low end and precision, also they have paper cones, not sure how they hold up when treated badly ... So we're almost neighbors 😎
@@StirfriedGerman Cool! I'm not mic'ed up when I sing.. It's just a hobby of mine to unwind and de-stress.. I don't sing professionally too so no need for me to mic up but I'm really leaning more towards the R2000DB. What are its cones made of?
@@Zushikikato They're polyurethane as far as I can tell. I've blasted them with my bass full power for a while and they take it. If you're not miced up, they will be plenty loud.
@@StirfriedGerman I think I'm sold! Looking forward to more reviews from you!
@@Zushikikato Thank you !
@StirfriedGerman How responsive is the remote? The reason I ask is because I've had bad experiences using little remotes like that in the past and many of 'em weren't very responsive at all. I had little remote like that to control a bluetooth car stereo I had and even me pointing directly to it from like 6 inches away, me sitting at the driver seat, that remote's signal wouldn't respond quickly enough, I had to press the volume buttons repeatedly in order to turn the volume up or down. So I wonder how responsive the signal for that tiny remote is for those speakers.
It's not bad actually.
@@StirfriedGerman I hate to say it but, the remote for these speakers completely suck! I still have the speakers and for now I'm keeping them because they do have great sound but, the remote for these is horrible. Months ago I was able to control the volume with it, as long as the speakers were "ON" (I was never able to turn on these speakers with the remote control since I bought 'em, for some reason) but, anyways, adjusting the volume worked somewhat for a while, as long as I aimed the remote within close distance to the speakers and directly towards the sensor however, like two weeks ago the remote completely failed to do any tasks and that has nothing to do with this particular remote or the batteries. I have two identical remotes, with fresh batteries in them and none work to control these speakers now. I have to physically disconnect the power to these speakers, if I want to turn 'em off when I go to sleep, and adjusting the volume with these remotes doesn't work anymore. If I want to adjust the volume now I either have to adjust it via whatever media I'm watching, if it has volume control, or I have to adjust the volume behind the main speaker manually to either lower or increase the volume on the back knob. Edifier definitely needs to address that issue with these remotes. The speakers themselves are great, I got no issues with them....it's just the remote that doesn't work properly.
@@JAMSTUBE @MARQUEZ's CHANNEL Sorry to hear that, no remote is definitely a pain with these. I've since switched to JBL studio monitors, but the only issue I had with the remote was temporarily losing it sometimes, to the point where I now have a remote shelf and trained myself to put all my remotes there. It sounds like your speakers are faulty, I never tried contacting Edifier customer service but maybe that could be worth a try.
Did you ever try getting Edifier to send you review speakers? They seem to send them to almost anyone. i would like your opinion on all the edifiers . You should send them this video, the positive comments you received
I'll give it a shot some day.. many brands don't like me being situated in China for some reason.
Are these good for general desktop audio for watching movies TV UA-cam etc as well as listening to music? If you search blind guardian that is the kind of music I play but a lot of other music as well for the partner like pop shit
Yes absolutely, they're ideal for desktop use and perform way above their price range. Didn't know Blind Guardian, thanks for the tip!
Wow! The sock trick is awesome! Thank u very much, i was not complaining so much about the bass but this completely gives much more definition to the sound.
What would u recommend for the same price as it costs 329.00 here in Santiago, Chile.
Again, thank u so much for the trick!
I've switched to JBL Lsr 305 MkII, they're in a similar price range but largely outperform the Edifiers. However, no Bluetooth, no remote, no real volume control as a pair, but they sound awesome for their price.
@@StirfriedGerman That's 237 for each one here and i think 2 are needed so 474 is not on my budget for those speakers hahaha. Important thing for me is BT as i use it a lot while working. Thank u so much for answering mate! Ur videos are great ;)
@@khrisgonzalez339 Thank you ! Wow, the JBL can be had for US$ 99 a piece when on special offer in the US. My friend uses a little $25 bluetooth receiver with these speakers with success, but sure you don't have the multiple input convenience with this setup.

Hi, how do i connect the r2000db to an audio interface if the interface only has balanced output?
Nice review, btw. Thumbs up!
Hi, there are balanced to unbalanced cables that can do the trick, there is a (really) small risk of hum. I'm using Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 which provides balanced TRS out, a simple unbalanced jack to RCA/Cinch works perfectly. Check your interface manufacturer's tech support to be sure. Thanks for your support ;)
Thank you for the fast reply. Much appreciated! Hope to see your future videos on my notifications :)
down to $115 here in China now...great speakers
At Chinese price (found 639 RMB), the cost-performance is insane :D
Edifier R1850DB or R2000DB? Is it worth to pay $100 more for R2000DB. Need some advice thanks. I use it for casual gaming watching drama/movies and listening to songs.
Hard to say without having listened to the R1850DB, but by the specs : the tweeter is smaller, Edifier praise it on the R2000DB, not so on R1850DB. Frequency response is indicated without +- 3 dB mention for R1850, looks less precise . Official price difference is $50. Unless you want smaller with sub out I'd stick with the 2000.

@@StirfriedGerman How can you hook these up to a tv?
@@edmondsamuel51 They have a 6.35mm/quarter inch jack input , your TV probably has RCA/Cinch out. You would need RCA to jack cables.
Just got this several days ago. Tried all the inputs but the Optical does not produce Audio of Dolby Digital AC3, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS. My PC can decode the first 2 and sound can come out from the Line In 3.5mm Jack but nothing from Digital In.
You probably need to send PCM from your PC, I don't think the DAC handles any Dolby formats.
@@StirfriedGerman so in other words it sends raw signals via optical but the htpc decodes when sent via 3.5mm?

@@maidvices1426 Yes usually that's how it works. The PC sends the original encoding by default. Using the analog out of the PC (3.5mm), your soundcard does the job. Maybe the media player has a setting where it sends stereo PCM, that's the only way as far as I know, if you want to use digital.
@@StirfriedGerman yes. I have found my waybinto the soundcards setting and manually instructed it that the speakers could not process dolby and dts, after applied, then the sound was available through the toslink. So the soundcard ultimately decoded it like it does for the 3.5mm
Problem solved. Thanks for responding.
Can this be used for living room TV watching??
Sorry for the late reply, yes of course, they work great for that too.
For 400$ like these or Mackie or JBL OR Swan more?
I have yet to sample the Swan so I can't comment on these ... for $400 you could almost go 8" if you have the space for that, Mackie MR824-8 or Presonus Eris E8. More cramped environment and depending how close you sit to the speakers, the R2000DB can be handy especially with their slanted design. Maybe also factor in resale value which would probably favor JBL.
А носки лучше какие?свежие или ношенные?и нужно ли сами носки прогревать?
I used fresh socks but I don't think dirty socks would sound worse 🤣

Hi buddy,
I want to set up a studio in my room,
Edifier's products are really good quality,
watched the video a comprehensive narration that you made this certain.
but not everyone understands English,
Can edifier be used as a studio monitor?
yamaha hs5 or hs8 compared with the comparison.
and edifier about the thin details you say briefly as a post?
this will be more useful and understandable and will help many people with me.
Thank you, I'll do a short write up, time permitting.
@@StirfriedGerman Thank you! :)
What do you think about the R2730db compared to these, about the same wattage, however they are 3-way speakers with 4 inch for mids and 6 and a half inch for bass woofers. They are badly tuned to be quite boomy, however I think that after I play with them, measure the frequency response and tune it, frequency by frequency, to get it to be flat, I think that chances are its going to sound better than the R2000db and for the same price, atleast in my local stores.
They might be hard to balance out, 3 way is always more complicated, stereo imaging on 3 way in near field is difficult, that's why most nearfield monitors are 2 way. I'm sure you can correct the boomy side but the tweeter is not the same gem as the one found on the R2000DB, and balancing out mids and highs will be a challenge and not consistent at different volume levels. Edifier specify the frequency range at +-3dB for the 2000 versus +-6dB for the 2730, that's an indicator too. You could also go with a smaller 2 way to fit your budget and add a subwoofer later.
@@StirfriedGerman Thank you for the reply :) I'm coming from having a 15 inch sub and 2 towers with double 8 inch drivers each :D I've never had the less boomy setup that the r2000db offers + the room is fairly small. The whole reason for me to consider buying these was space (obviously) and to have something that would still produce some pleasant bass without shaking the whole place at 10% volume. The only thing that kind of bothers me is the fact that the R2730DB extends the bass a bit lower, based on some bass test comparison from youtube, the R2000db is like inaudible at 35-45hz whereas the r2730db still has it at 35hz and I believe that this plays a big role when playing german techno 😂 which is what I listen to 60% of the time.
@@iv4oooooo Thank you for subscribing 😁 If you're not using the speakers in near field, then I don't have no problem with 3-way setup. My last hifi speakers were Triangle Ventis XS, 3 way with rear tweeter plus an added 1000w subwoofer that went down to 18hz. For your application, I'm sure the R2730DB will be fine 👍😍
@@StirfriedGerman Thank you too, Stirfried :D Your opinion is of great value :)
@@iv4oooooo Для меня большая честь, спасибо 😊
which 2.1 speakers do you recommend for heavy metal music?
Depends how loud you want to go. I would stick to my JBL LSR305 MkII studio monitors and add a Presonus Temblor T10 subwoofer. Overall good performance without breaking the bank too much.
@@StirfriedGerman Alright. And are these edifier R2000DB good for heavy metal?
@@AgoraphobicNews Fo the size and price range, sure. Remember the socks though.
@@StirfriedGerman Thanks! And if I compare Edifier R200DB with Logitech G560, Logitech Z623 2.1, and which ones are the best for heavy metal experience? :) They are all in the similar price range...
@@AgoraphobicNews I think the most balanced sound will suit metal just like any other style, unless you're looking for hyped bass. The price/performance of the Edifiers leaves anything Logitech in the dust.
Link in your description leads to Edifier R1850DB. Can you clarify?
Thanks for the head's up, Amazon must have updated URLs, I'll update it.
@@StirfriedGerman the link still takes you to R1850DB
@@allegory3826 I'll check it immediately, sorry about that...
@@allegory3826 I think it's fixed
@@StirfriedGerman it's still the 1850
socks mod it's cool!
Can you add a sub to the setup?
Sure, any active sub with a stereo in/out. But it won't work while using bluetooth
@@StirfriedGerman akoay, thank you. Great review I appreciate it
man im no audiophile but that also my first my impression the bass is too much the sound is so boxy?? don't know.. and i didn't like it specially compared with samsung m360 soundbar which cost a 20$ less which sound clear and crisp specially in vocal and acoustic although i believe in terms of loudness this one is the winner. I will try the socks work around hopefully this make a little bit better.
Party mode!
😎
My sons lose he socks huhu
Where's are you
I'm in Guangdong, Zhuhai
I laughed and stopped at 2:39!
I'm glad I made you laugh !
I feel that Edifier does not make a quality product. In my case I bought the R2000DB speakers. At first, I thought they were damaged. I ended up researching UA-cam videos just to get them working with my laptop through a Bluetooth connection. When I frustratingly got them to pair and produce sound, I was very disappointed. The sound has too much base to the point I turned the base knob all the way down and the treble knob all the way up. Also, it seems the sound has a generally muffled sound. Disappointed that I paid so much for low quality speakers. I do not recommend this company at all.
Try and stick something in the bass reflex port, it cleans up the sound a lot. Rolled socks as in the video.
Sexy !! I have the r1700bt
Yes I like them a lot!
I actually just ordered the pico , I hope its not fake XD and it was $28,99
OK good luck! The original is an excellent mod.
