When doing rides, with another, in ‘remote, country’ like this, where mobile phone reception is not guaranteed, I always like to pack along, a couple of small lightweight VHF Walkie-Talkie radios that are only about the size of a packet of cigarettes, but which allow you to maintain contact with each other within about a 5 to 10 KMs range. Handy to have in circumstances like you encountered where, at that fork in the road, you each didn’t know where the other one was, either ahead, of, or behind you.
Awesome work Josh. I was up there myself with the family in the 4WD probably around the same time as you boys, and I kept thinking that I'd love to have my DRZ up there for a bike trip. Next time maybe.
loving the Adventure you guys are on 😁👌 and loving that both you guy have your own channel sooo i have double the videos to watch 🤣👍 keep well and stay safe-ish mate 😉🍺
Awesome, loving this trip. Planning my trip up the cape next year with 2 other mates so its great info and thanks for adding the track names etc in there as it helps put things into perspective. What model GPS is that the OG or #2? Happy with it, looking to get one, weighing up the difference. Keep it up 🤙
Can not wait to see you guys take on the OTT. What’s the model Garmin gps unit your using? Did it cover the cape pretty well or where there tracks missing at times?
Came across yourself and Lance's channels while searching for vids on adventuring my DRZ400, now subbed to both channels and loving you guys adventures... Hope to be doing my own soon on my DRZ although maybe not quite as wild as you guys...
@@_JoshJB_ thanks for your quick reply. So I suppose you haven't had any leak? Some people say the nozzle doesn't fit on it very well and leaks when fuelling, but that doesn't seem like a big issue to me. As you would only loose a few drops...
As I commmented in Lance's Vlog you guys are legends....awesome, making it look easy. Question: what navigation system are you using for your adventures. Suprised you didn't use coms for the trip 🙂 Great post well done
Thanks mate I use a Garmin Zumo XT. Works great I’m not a fan of comms really, got enough going on in my own head rather than having someone else in there too 😂
Traveling well lads! What tyre pressure did you boys run on the dirt roads? Did you have to adjust it leaving the bitumen? Looking forward to the rest joshy !
@@_JoshJB_ I run 15 44 on the desert trips and out west and 15 46 for the trips to the VHC so thinking 15 44 as you did for the Cape. I am in SE Qld and we ride to our destinations . Making me soooo jealous.
My water bladder in my backpack is 3.8L and I carry a 600ml bottle just for cooking at camp. Plenty of places to fill up along the way on this adventure.
Is is worth keeping two sprockets and switching between them depending on the type of riding? I know you have the two bikes but can you get away with just a DRZ with the two sprockets?
Yep, I know it’s mounted on your chin… that’s why I said “you whip your head around too much”. Swift camera movements can evoke a sense of motion sickness in some viewers… and unfortunately, I seem to suffer from it. Funnily enough, I can watch Lance’s videos without too much problem. His naturally slower movements result in much smoother footage. So I get to see your adventures through his eyes. Just to be clear, I’m not “having a go” at you Josh… I’m just making you aware of an issue that professional camera operators are very much aware of… and some of the more experienced Adventure Riders on UA-cam have obviously worked out. Itchy Boots for example has some of the best footage out there. I sincerely wish you the best of success. 🤙🏼
Lance is a f&$king unit, that DR should be riding him 😂
😂 when the crossings are too deep he just throws it on his shoulders and walks through
Loving this series & the adventurous way of staying off the tar!
Thanks 🙏

Great route man, I did the same route a couple of years ago but in a vehicle with trailer. I’ll go back on the bike for sure
Great video coverage of a good looking trip.Cheers from JHB-SA.

Sounds like an excuse to go again to me 😆
These are great to watch. Brings back memories from riding these last year with my buds. Recognise all the tracks.

Happy to help out
Mines the OG Zumo XT, it does everything I need it to do so haven’t seen a need to upgrade yet.
Cheers for watching 👍🏼

Next episode we will be on it 👍🏼
Garmin Zumo XT
99% of what we rode was on the maps
Great unit
Keep it up right mate 👍
Cheers mate
Great work Josh! Hey what's your overall thoughts on the insta360?
Came across yourself and Lance's channels while searching for vids on adventuring my DRZ400, now subbed to both channels and loving you guys adventures... Hope to be doing my own soon on my DRZ although maybe not quite as wild as you guys...
Thanks for the support mate. 🤙🏼🤙🏼
I was rossing up on whether to get the drz400sm or the drz400. After watching your channel rhe drz400 looks the way to go i think.
DRZ400E 👍🏼
I see you running the fox desert fuel bladder. How is it?
They’ve been good for me mate
Used 2 of them to cross the Simpson desert last year with no issues 👍🏼

Thank mate appreciate it..cheers
Lance's bike is making a lot of clacking noises ... is his chain rooted ?
Nah it was a brand new chain for the trip. Probably just in a higher gear on low revs. Mine sounds similar when I do the same.
Good days riding...bit more sedate 👍
Compared to the day before it sure was!
Good to see its going so well, Josh.
Is that the 17 L Safari tank, or th 28L?
Thanks mate. Just the 17L. It holds closer to 20L 👍🏼
Judging by how thin, i think it's the 17L.
Traveling well lads! What tyre pressure did you boys run on the dirt roads? Did you have to adjust it leaving the bitumen?
Looking forward to the rest joshy !
I tried to stay around 18 psi
I was a little lower for the wakooka rd section.
@@_JoshJB_ beauty cheers mate !
Great vid and looks like a killer trip , well done .
What sprocket sizes are you running on the bikes ?
It was amazing.
15-44 👍🏼

It’s a Garmin Zumo XT
13:07 Lance: The intrepid Apprentice Peeventurer LOL
Am enjoying you and Lance's vids mate... excellent trip so far.
Haha 😂
How much water are you carrying at any one time ?
My water bladder in my backpack is 3.8L and I carry a 600ml bottle just for cooking at camp. Plenty of places to fill up along the way on this adventure.
Great video's, poor old lance is an accident waiting to happen.
He’s a tough fella. Always bounces back up 🤣
wheres the beach in your intro?
Fraser Island?
What sprocket set up are you running mate
15-44
Is is worth keeping two sprockets and switching between them depending on the type of riding? I know you have the two bikes but can you get away with just a DRZ with the two sprockets?
@@randy8643 I wouldn’t waste time doing that. 15-44 is a good all round setup for everything.
Another question!!! You had to ask the owmerers permission to open n shut gates...$10 toll is what it cost!. Is that a who cares thing now?
As much as I’d love to watch your vids… I cant. You whip your head around a bit too much which is difficult to watch. 🥴 Sorry dude.
😂 because the camera is literally on my chin. Thanks for watching anyway
