🔥🌱 Now that Firebush mini-series has finished... What Florida Native Plant do you want to learn more about? 🌱🔥 There are so many great ones and I have some ideas... but I love to help my Floridians 😉
I live in Manatee County. I want to get a fire bush to attract more pollinators. I have the perfect sunny location, though it's afternoon sun and heat. Is that okay? However, my main question is understanding the difference of the fire bush. There is a non-native and a native. Of course, I want to support native plants, but I also want something that won't grow more than 4 feet. Is there a difference between the two when it comes to size and effectively feeding the pollinators?
I thoroughly enjoyed your series--you have a great personality and delivery, which made me subscribe to your channel. Thanks for helping us out with Florida Natives!
My neighbor's firebush was like that for the first three years we were neighbor's. We gave it a deep mulch (he used some of my leftover mulch) and one year later it looks gorgeous. So it may be a nutrition thing. Hope that helps!
Winter, but I have seen it pruned in fall and summer on other people's Firebush. If you are zone 9 or higher, you can push the season. If you are zone 8, I would stick to winter when it will die-back.

FL wild coffee.
Also, oak leaf hydrangea. I’ve tried planting 3 at 3 different times. They all died 😞. What’s the secret?
Very helpful - thank you!

Does the fire bush do well in a big pot?
Mine is very old 20 plus years. It has become very thinned out so I cut it back relatively hard. Is there a suggestion to help it to come back?
