- Melting fine gold with borax from our hardrock ore milling process using an oxygen acetylene torch and borax in a crucible. I forgot to mention in the video always save your crucible material and crush it up to get the fine gold that didn't melt into your button.

The borax makes a black glassy material that can be seen stuck to the inside of the crucible around 3:39 when I break it to get the gold button out.
I guess it is kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good place to watch new movies online?
@Garrett Valentino Flixportal :)
@Baker Mario thank you, I signed up and it seems like a nice service =) I appreciate it !!
@Garrett Valentino No problem :)

I did that once when I had a pile of very fine gold flakes. Used a propane torch and Borax as a flux. Took awhile, but came out fine - my button is 2.7 DWT - a little more than a 10th ounce - about $135 at 80% of today's spot price for gold. (80% is what I get for small amounts where I sell my gold).
Nice!
What do you do if you don't have a torch?? All I have is a home made furnace for melting aluminum cans..
If you wanted to get rid of some of the base metals(not all) you could use some sodium carbonate with your borax. Nice to see a person that knows you only need borax and not a "flux" to melt gold. Nice vid.
Thanks!
Gonner do this right now thanks.. I have boric acid .. should I not mix any salt or potassium sulphat that all I have
How much time it will take to melt
🙄 , guess I should be more observant 😊 , gonna have to go back through your shows to see how ya process the silver and gold apart 👍. Vandetta does alot this refining , very interesting 💥👍 ✌️🇺🇸
wow, you really stepped up you game since this 😮
nice little weighty button of gold Jason :) great tutorial :)
My father used to melt giod buggets. He added borax half way and another compound forgot . Then when the gold button cooled for a minute he drpped in HCL cloridic acid to clean surface impurities which made the button look rather dark. The gold color came after the acid bath.
What are giod buggets?
Wouldn't a little less than 1/2 oz be like 14 g's not 50 something
sir hello?how to cook gold with more soil?and how can you step by step on the ground with gold?and how much will it put borax?
How long did that take w map gas btw
what is the ratio of borax and what is the purity of the button?
I dump around a teaspoon or two per ounce of gold. The borax doesn't remove metals such as silver, and copper. It works great for removing the black sand, which combines with the borax to form a black glass type of material. The purity of our gold is around .950 fine. Thanks for watching and posting.
Is the melting pot made up sand ?
Hi, I'm looking for a way to refine gold jewellery without using acids, will this way work? 🤷🏼♂️
Yes, it will melt the gold into a button. I am not sure about the refining part
When I melt mine and turns into a glass that looks dirty and black and I use borax any tips ? My gold is from cleaned cpu's that I have extracted the gold from with nitric acid and hydrochloric acid.
It's not pure
Thank you
Well done sir
can we make gold from copper
Hello. Can I used natural borax to make Chapman's flux. Or do I need to use a refined borax. I have all my ingredients I need except the borax. I can not purchase anhydrous borax in my area. It's easier for me to get natural borax
You don't have access to amazon? They sell plenty of good fluxes and borax there...
I'm trying this stuff out with my electric furnace 😂so far it's been looking 👌, but I'm using copper 😮
Yes I have to flax the cube
i like the grain scale
Thank you so much!
thanks! Ill post a vid when Im done, I am wondering have you ever tried kilning off large amounts of blacksands at a time? Or do you think it would be better to cyanide leach it?
Check out this video for a large smelt: ua-cam.com/video/8G9SATGaWw0/v-deo.html
I need borax and cup for melting gold how make ordering to Papua new Guinea
i used borax first time, to melt gold, it turned to glass, no problem without borax
Borax will help if there are some impurities such as sand or rocks
Any tips for making my own backyard kiln? Can i melt gold with charcoal and a billow?
There are tons of vids on YT
Melt dish would do you well.
Yes, I really needed one for this video.....
How do I send you a picture
what kind of borax you used sir? its possible to use borax brazing flux?
+jayr san juan I used 20 mule team borax. It is for washing clothes. I am not sure about the brazing flux, you could give it a try but I am not sure what else is in the flux other than borax. Thanks for the question.
thank you mbmmllc i have a 60 kilos of same like aluvial gold but the problem is i dont know how to process it..
Every time i melt acid refined gold it turns to black brittle slag?
Greg-
I am not sure why that would be. I don't have a lot of experience melting gold, but this was native hard rock. I don't know why there would be a difference with refined gold. There are lots of guys out there on UA-cam that I would check with about your problem who are way more experienced than I am. Try looking up Metallic Mario. He has given me some tips in the past. He left me a comment on this video down toward the bottom so just click on his name to go to his page. Thanks and good luck
greg drake If you are using aqua regia to acid refine the gold then you need to filter the acid so theres no sediment them add sodium metabisulfate to make the gold precipitate. It should look like mud and that mud is what you melt down. If you take the junk straight out from the aqua regia then thats just all the slag and stuff you dont want.
where does the borax go?
It makes the black glass
Where is the silver you said you heated with the torch?
+DEZ LONERO This video was just gold. Did I mention somewhere in the video about silver?
What is the size of the tip that you use with the torch?
I don't remember exactly. I think it was a really small rose bud tip.
Powder name is what
Nice
Hey can u do this with gold ore
Like the rock material with the gold
Hello i need borax how to order herd in philippine
Whenever I torch my gold it just comes out black... Any ideas?
Blake-
Sometimes when I have a lot of black sand mixed in I will get a black film on the gold button too. You can try adding more borax, also I use muriatic acid (same stuff to clean grout and mortar, can be found at any hardware store) and let the button soak for a few hours. Pull out the button and the black film will wash off revealing a nice shiny gold button.
Good Luck!
This is electronic scrap gold from fingers and pins. I missed smb /aqua,regia. Solved my own question thanks though
Basically only nitric acid and tried to melt. Awesome halfounce fail.
where buying borax
Whst brand of borax did you use?
mymuseofme We used 20 mule team borax. Any brand will work just fine.
@@mbmmllc borax sodium is poseble to use melting of gold..
What does the borax do?
The borax absorbs the oxides that may still be left in with the gold when it melts. Here is a newer video we posted a few days ago showing a more complete process: ua-cam.com/video/LvB7I4Cr6Jo/v-deo.html
I recommend you use borax glass. It has much less moisture and is easier to work with. P.S. I'm an assayer.
David,
Thanks for the tips. Since taking the video a few years ago I have purchased a melt dish. I don't do a lot of gold melting, but it sure does come in handy.
Thanks again,
Jason
🔴 flax it first
Can I pay you to smelt gold dust/flakes for me that is mixed with dirt?
Lol I found on amazon 1kg of gold powder at $40. Borax is $10 and a blowtorch is $20. U can make money with this LOL
Always one to fugk shit up. Always one.
👍
How do i melt my gold dust and end with pure 24k gol?
Gabriel-
Thank you for the comment. There are several ways to end up with a pure gold product, but I have not explored them in detail. There is a great UA-cam channel by metalicmario that has a lot of refining and smelting info. You can check it out by searching metalicmario on UA-cam or he has actually commented below so you can just click through to his channel by clicking his name on his post below.
Thanks
