    Just bought two pairs of these and the ANC doesn't seem to work when they're in wired mode. The user guide confirms it. Since I'd like to use ANC on a plane when connected by cable to the inflight entertainment system, this makes them a bit useless and I'm surprised few others make mention of this.

    • @TechTronic9000
      @TechTronic9000  9 місяців тому +13

      I guess you are talking about connecting the headphones to the aux analog cable. Well usually people get them for BT connectivity. You could solve this by getting a small BT transmitter which will take the analog aux in and send it to the headphones via BT. This way they are still going to be wireless.

    • @beograd07
      @beograd07 9 місяців тому

      Thank you for this comment as I almost bought them too and this would be unpleasant surprise on the plane. This is a dealbreaker for me too. Some of these BT cans do not have AUX wired connection and even if they do older models (like Q20 without i) they have micro USB instead of USB C charging connector. But not having NC on AUX connection I did not find this info even on Soundcore web page and many reviewers don't mention it. Until planes start making their back seat entertainment systems with BT connectivity (probably never) this is actually very important feature.

    • @Sherdil08
      @Sherdil08 8 місяців тому

      @@beograd07which headset you bought then?

    • @beograd07
      @beograd07 8 місяців тому

      @@Sherdil08 None, but I followed @TechTronic900 advice to try with a small BT transmitter and it worked. But before I explain what I've done at the end, let me say I emailed Soundcore about it and after a few back and forth emails they confirmed Q20i don't support ANC through AUX connectivity. They suggested models Q35 and Q45 as they support ANC on AUX connection. Then a bit more browsing on UA-cam and I found out some reviewers complain about quality of sound and ANC level drops on AUX connection compared to BT connection.
      I do have House Marley BT cans and they support ANC on AUX connection but they are too bulky for travelling and also quality of ANC is not the top notch and they drop the ANC level on AUX connection. I also have old Bose QC3 much smaller (not BT model) and from previous experience unless they are perfectly fit on my ears (very hard to achieve in uncomfortable position in economy seats) their ANC level can also drop.
      So, since I also have Anker Soundcore Liberty 3 pro buds, which have a very good ANC and seal for my ears, I decided to try these BT transmitters as suggested.
      First I got Essager BT5.3 adapter but it did not work. Did not realise this is a RX only model (Receiver, not transmitter). It doesn't work in right direction for me. It is designed for wired cans to connect let's say to the mobile phones without 3.5 input using BT connection. So none of the BT headphones would connect in BT mode. This adapter connect to the mobile phone perfectly and also has a micro SD card slot to listen to the music directly from it without the phone (also Volume control, play, stop and next song controls).
      Then I got UGREEN BT5.1 dual (2-in-1) adapter with the switch RX/TX so you can use it in both directions. First, my Marley cans would not connect at all. But then I tried my Liberty 3 pro and connected easely. Sound was good with minimal delay and ANC wasn't affected (obviously it I was using BT connection). Perfect solution. Also much more comfortable if I snooze off during the flight watching IFE.
      So, @TechTronic900 was right just have to be carefull what are you buying and I will go and get one spare with built in battery as this Ugreen model works only with USB power supply. Not a problem on the plane as most back seats usually all have USB power ports too on long haul flights, but there are some cheap adapters too with rechargeable battery.
      Hope this helps.

    Just bought these headphones. They are very light and comfortable. I wear glasses and they don't impede at all. The sound is very loud. The only issue for me is they seem very fragile. So if your clumsy and walk into walls, or fall of bikes get the duck tape at hand. I will use it for home use mainly. I have spend over £250 on some of the main brands and these headphone are worth every penny if your on a tight budget. Enjoy!!!

      @@TechTronic9000 Thank you for replying. I have only used IEMs so far. And I do listen to for long sessions. So sound and comfort are my must.
      I have narrowed it down to Sennheiser HD 350BT, Sony Wh-Ch720N, and Edifier W820NB Plus. But choosing not to buy Edifier as I've seen no one talk about in my region.
      My only asks are best sound detailing and imaging in that price. And next is comfort, say continuously listening for 1.5h - 2h (outside and inside the house). I don't care about other features. I listen to Classical to Metal; from Folk to Sufi; I completely hate english Pop, and I definitely am not a basshead. I want to start listening to some clarity and see the soundstage (perhaps I'm asking for a lot in this price but I've only used $30USD IEMs so far, haha) from some decent headphone, then making the journey up with time.

Its OK but can't say about build quality as it has only been few weeks. It look sturdy but let's see how durable it is. One more thing you will get sweat near the cushion. Yes and no. If you treat them as cheap consumables, the only limiting factor will be whether you like the sound and if you find them comfortable.
      If you want them to be longterm items, no. The band will lose clamping force over time and the hinges will eventually start to rattle and creak with some movements. The material on the ear cups will perish thanks to sweat and oils. They are replaceable at least and some of the other issues can be controlled with how well you handle them over time.

      Also, in the review, I can see that q20i has hi-res audio on the packaging of the headphones. But don't they have hi-res audio?

    • @ettcha

      @@HinokamiKagura7630 the hi res on both only works when wired to a compatible source. Both also have dual connectivity. Just allow for different source devices behaving differently. For instance, my laptop, even when the lid is closed with no media playing, maintains connectivity and will not allow my phone to take over. This is not an issue with the headphones.
      The Q20i has a pass through mode which the Q20 lacks. Q20i is compatible with the Soundcore app though you will need an account to sync settings across different phones and to access a couple of features. Sound wise, they are very similar to me. Makes sense as they use the same speakers and have similar tuning.
      If pass through and an app don't matter to you, the Q20 may make more sense if it is heavily discounted, given their age.
      No matter which you get, you will need to replace the ear cups eventually. The leatherette coating is very thin and susceptible to sweat and face oils over time.
      The Q20 may come with a hardcase or pouch, but since the Q20 and Q20i are identical apart from the buttons and texture, cases made for the Q20 work perfectly with the Q20i.

      i have both q20 and q20i. the difference is that the q20 does not have transparency mode while the q20i does. the q20 does not have the app, the q20i has the app. the q20 does not connect to multiple BT devices, the q20i does. interestingly, before the q20, i had the q20+ which is basically the q20 that connects to multiple BT devices.

    The first time I use them, should I run out of the manufactured battery and then charge them? Or should I charge them without using them? And how long should I charge them?

    JBL 720BT or Soundcore Q20I ? Which has better sound quality, bass and built quality?

    • @TechTronic9000

      The JLB might sound a bit better, but they don't have ANC nor app control for sound customization.

      I don't know how the Q30 are, but I still enjoy the Q20i, they sound OK and I have bought them as budget headphones to trash around. They still work ok and I use them almost daily for a few hours.
