I'm playing catchup on videos... personally i LOVE it when things go awry. It tests our creativity and it's delightful to watch you problem solve in real time. I enjoy your sense of play and adventure!
Love this journal so much you are so clever. Boo boos happen to me all the time but it is fun to f come up with a solution that’s sometimes even better. Happy accidents🤗
I really enjoy watching you create this journal using all the media. I love how you used Tim’s fabric as part of the signature. Lots of great inspiration. Thank you.❤🦋🦋
@@49dragonfliesOo yes. I was going to mention this - the ultraviolet activated resins cure super quickly. Less than 2 mins usually. You can buy a little torch if you don’t have a nail curing light, or pop it in the sun under a clear plastic lid so the UV gets through. Or when you get your nails done, take a few with you & pop them under the light 😜
Love how you create and also listening to your little giggle when something goes wrong, we're all human and make mistakes which can be fixed for sure, can't wait for part 3 re al
Hi Barbara. I am so glad you have such a good outlook when you make a mistake. Love it when you say “I have another opportunity to ruin it.” 😅 I needed that laugh today. 😂.
I'm finally able to go back and watch your videos fir your travel journal. You are so fun to watch. You always make me laugh. And YES, many times I make silly errors when making my journals.
All The Time! I make little mistakes all the time and get to think of creative ways to fix it! 😂 I’ve come to realize, attitude and perspective are everything - in crafting and in life. 😊❤
I usually sew in one signature upside down when assembling a journal. Concentrating on the threads and miss something else. Aauugh! Oh, well. Threads snip and words can be covered, there is always a way. I really like this journal.
This journal is so much fun! I have "incidents" while making things as well. We travel all summer and live in our RV (because it is actually 26ºF cooler here in Montana than at our house in Texas right now) and I have some supplies with me. I wonder how many I will purchase again while I'm here. Fortunately there is a Hobby Lobby about 5 miles away! 🤫
Looking great! Loved when you said I have one more chance to ruin it! Lol. You didn’t! Definitely appreciate you showing your mistakes! Helps to know even the pros make mistakes but keep going! Loving the fabric journal!
Thank you Barbara! I LOVE this journal! Where do you come up with these unique ideas! You really inspire me to experiment! It sounds as if you're a little "off" in this video. I hope you're okay and I hope you don't mind me mentioning it. Sending the energy of Love & Light your way! Thank you for all you give us! You are a bright spot in my life!❤
Barbara, I love love love your creativity❣️ I’m not quite as grungy loving as you😊, but I can incorporate your designs into my own technique. I thank you for showing us the mistakes you make. I’ve made those same ones as you - and soooo many more. 😳😫 How you can laugh at them amazes me, as my initial reaction is more like this: 🤬 After your first jeans video, I bought an amazing pair of jeans at a thrift store and made a beautiful journal cover which has yet to be filled. But that’s ok - it brings me joy just as it is❣️ I look forward to the continuation of your project. 💜💙🥰
14:59 I think those a called Cabochon Bezel Settings. Not sure but when I type that into search engines I see a lot of similar stuff. and I want to buy it all obviously. :)🎀
This is really stunning! I love to see the mistakes or mishaps, it’s how we learn. And I never want to stop learning because it’s how we grow as artists and also as human beings. Excited to see more of this amazing journal. Many hugs 🤗❤️
Ah I found out from Nick the booksmith that's a single folded pieces is a choir, lol dunno why 🤷. But I primarily bind choirs instead of signatures with my beloved coptic stitching. Knew that info would come in useful one day 😄. Is wetting the paper better for sprays than using gesso first? Lol no mistakes in junk journaling, like Bob Ross 😁. Oops 🙈 yes, always a solution in JJ'ing. Oh it's known as 'doing a Debbi ' in this house 😄. Not just gluing upside down either! Looks like my 1/2" punch unless your hands are super tiny or huge 🙊. Genius fix lol. Oh they're called Bezel trays for adding glass cobachons (or other decorations) I'm 2 for 2 today lol ask something else! 😄. Oh exactly like liquid glass. An acrylic pouring medium, it wouldn't dome for me either, too runny I think. Don't stand on that eyelet! 🙊yes, more fun! 🙊 haven't ruined it yet🙊. Fantastic so far 😍 looking forward to the next part. Tfs and have a great day 💖💖💖
Spraying the paper is good for making it more blurry instead of as droplety (super technical terms there) as it helps the spray run a little bit. A cool effect I saw recently but haven’t tried yet, is putting a blob of gesso then spraying with distress oxide on top & scraping it down the page with a palette knife or bit of a plastic card. The wet gesso will activate the oxide spray but in different amounts. Can’t remember where I saw that 🤷♀️ May all your flying eyelets land on your desk 😁
Barbara! I have a suggestion for embossing on fabric. Try applying ironing spray starch to the fabric first before you stamp with the embossing ink. Also try to use an embossing pen instead of the dauber. Be sure the starch is dry too, which you can achieve with your heating tool. The starch should make the fabric less absorbent and provide a stiffer base. Experiment and see what happens! The denim is tricky because of the twill weave, so the starch might help with that! Don't give up on that idea! It is a good one! 💝
Sweet!...Sorry that the sweet word didn't works out with the embossing powder but Plan B worked out great. I do enjoy your creative ideas......................😻
Hallo Barbara, Cool!!
Lol. I think you were having withdrawals from not being allowed to have dangles in your Sketchbook so you’re making up for it in this journal. I really love this one. It’s definitely loaded with interest in colour, texture & DANGLES!!!! 😁 But where are the gold splatters? Did I forget seeing those? 🤔🤷♀️
Beautiful and so creative ! Maybe for the dome thing the first layer should be only in the center of the circle. Just a suggestion, don’t know if it will work. 😉😁
Lots of jewelry is made now by putting images into the bezels and then adding the liquid (like Glossy Accents or resin) or pre-made glass or plastic domes or cabochons
Today’s crafting session looked like MANY of mine. I stomp my feet, think about crying, then figure out a way to fix it. When that fails, I reluctantly START OVER. Isn’t crafting fun? 😂😂😂
I absolutely love that you don’t remove the mistakes from your videos! It is sooo helpful to see the fixes!!
Junk journalers never make mistakes! They just create opportunities for creativity ❤
😃❤️👍🏻
I love how you leave in all your mistakes (or happy accidents).
Thank you so much for showing your mistakes! Keep doing that❤
Barbara: moving along on this journey. Looks good! Carol from California
Barbara, I love you a little bit more with every mistake you make! This is beautiful & very you.
Aaaw thank you! You will love me more and more 😂😂😂
As junk journalers we live for happy accidents!! Thank you for your honest creativity

Barbara, love that you leave your happy mistakes in the video. I think we all have done such things. Love the signature! TFS! ❤
What a beautiful journal, I really love it. Thank you for sharing it with us Barbara. Take care, xx❤😊
Love this journal so much you are so clever.

Part two did not disappoint ❤! Cant wait for part three
The construction of this journal is just genius!! 😊
Aaaaw! ❤️❤️❤️
If you want a dome, use resin. There are resins that can cure in just a few minutes and then you are on your way!
Thanks! ❤️

So true! 👍🏻😃❤️
Yes it’s a bezel 😊
I’m making a similar size fabric book. Can’t wait to see how you end up sewing in signatures. Love watching your process.
How fun! 😃❤️
Enjoyed part 2. Gorgeous Travel Journal. Thanks for sharing.

Glad to see I’m not alone! 😃❤️
Theyre called bezels or cabochons.
Bezel. Cabochons are a dome shaped thing (like a gem stone) that goes into the bezel.

You might need to wear safety glasses while making these! 😂
I can't wait to make this, I'll be thinking about it the whole time I'm camping 😅 😊
Enjoy your camping! Maybe pick some flowers to dry 😃❤️

Oh thank you. I have a background in oils so haven't tried spraying much (control freak 🤭). That oxide spray with wet gesso sounds cool though 😁
When I make mistakes, I'm known to have "debbed it" apparently 😅
Love your channel and all your crafting projects ❤
The metal piece is a caboshon setting. This a wonderful little book!
I love love this journal so so interesting ❤❤❤❤
I love this!😊
Isn’t that called a bezel?

Cabochon blanks or necklace.

That is called a bezzle meant to hold a stone.
Lots of jewelry is made now by putting images into the bezels and then adding the liquid (like Glossy Accents or resin) or pre-made glass or plastic domes or cabochons
I am really enjoying this series, if I spray on a digital, the image runs, do you have a laser printer? xx
