Do you know if this is the same process for a 2009 Honda CRV?

It should be. 07-11 is the same model year Honda’s.

I have a 2009 honda crv that was in an accident before I bought it and the drivers side seatbelt works fine, but seatbelt indicator light is on, would any code reader work to read the codes or do I have to take it to a mechanic to get the codes read/specific type of reader? I qlready purchased a new seatbelt, so would replacing it remove the indicator light?
Thanks for your help! Any input would be greatly appreciated!

That’s a very similar scenario to what I had. The seatbelt itself works, and it will continue to do so after an accident. But the gas chamber inside the buckle or belt has deployed and is no longer going to be usable. That’s why your light is on, you would need an advanced reader to get the codes. Thankfully, I had a friend with one and was able to verify that I needed the buckle and the belt. You would probably need a mechanic to tell you if you need one or both. You could also just replace both depending on costs.I mailed mine in to be repaired and it was significantly cheaper than trying to buy new parts.

I have a 2019 honda crv. Is this process similar?

Similar yes. But the 2019 is a much new model than this 11. 2017 they did a major redesign, and you’ll see the different body styles. So you might have fasteners or bolts in different spots, but the concept is the same.

Was your belt stuck? Or too loose and not retracting?

The belt worked fine. It did feel a little weird and rattled. I bought the car from someone who had it repaired after an accident. They didn’t bother with the airbag light. I hooked up a computer that reads airbag codes, and it said both the buckle and belt pretensioners had fired and the circuits were stuck open because of that. So with that info I looked up replacements but based on prices I ultimately sent them in to be repaired. Got them both back, reinstalled, and the light went right off.

Side note. If you have to take it somewhere just get a code readout for the airbags. If it’s a seatbelt/buckle issue. Fix it yourself. You can send them off to the same company that 90% of repair shops send them to. It costs around $80 each. And from what I learned shops will send them off, pay that $80. Then up-charge you $400-$500 to take them out, send them off, and to reinstall them. Like my videos shows. It’s pretty easy to do all that yourself.

Not for those who are inexperienced in vehicle mechanics and repairs. I thought he was very thorough, as quick as possible, and easy to follow. If you want fast, go watch a SHORT. We all have the capability to NOT BE AN ASS. SOME JUST DON'T QUITE GRASP THE CONCEPT APPARENTLY.
