At Liberace’s house in Palm Springs, he used to practice the piano in his garage with the garage door open. That was in the 1970s. Imagine walking by his home and getting a free concert.
Your hair is beautiful Sarah. Liberace would have loved to have met you. My mom played the piano, so we would always watch Liberace on TV. Each time Liberace performed, he would always introduce his "Brother George". Now, when Liberace is mentioned, his brother George is never mentioned. Born in Menasha, Wisconsin, he was the elder brother and business partner of famed U.S. entertainer Liberace (Władziu Valentino Liberace or "Lee" to his friends). He appeared regularly on his brother's syndicated television show in the 1950s as violin accompanist and orchestral arranger.
I used to sometimes take his vehicles to the shop/station I worked at in Palm Springs, CA. I lived only about 1/2 block from his estate there. It had a fence completely around it, and there were piano keys painted all over the fence. We did the service on the vehicles as I worked at the North Palm Canyon Shell Station. We also did Bob Hopes, and several lesser known celebs cars.
What a cool woman Susie is! Sweet of her to give you (and us) Insider's access. I remember the tour video of his mansion several years ago and it was wonderfully, pure kitsch. For any who actually wonder why he would "deface" superior autos, like the Rolls, It was simply because his embellishment lent them spectacular status. Thanks Sarah Jane.
i know Im asking randomly but does someone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the password. I love any tips you can give me
@Jonah Travis i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
This was Grand WH....I met Liberace at the O'hare Airport in 1978...he was walking in the concourse with his then Chauffeur, Scott Thorson and I was walking towards them and knew instantly who he was. I was a young pup to be sure and my thought that he even gave me any attention was he was surprised a young buck would recognize him. I asked if he would sign the sleeve my plane ticket was in and he suggested we shake hands as he was in a hurry. He was very courteous and nice and as I walked away afterwards an Elderly Couple was standing by the wall and the wife said to the husband..."I Told you that was Liberace"!! I laughed and left with my memory! Cheers From Ohio To The Best Travel guide EVER
Thank you for the video on Liberace. Years ago when I was in Las Vegas, I visited the original Liberace museum. What struck me was that he wasn't as appreciated as I thought. I watched his weekly TV shows when I was young and he was a fantastic entertainer. If he were alive today, he would be a sensation compared to the artists of today. Liberace was the greatest!
Liberace was somehow related to a long deceased and distant member of our family. I have some never before seen photographs that were taken of Lee (Mister Liberace) with his Mother, and some other family members, poolside in early Las Vegas, that I now own. I will dig some of them out of storage, and share them with you Wonderhussy. Very cool times, and Lee was said by all to be as nice and charming and warm as they come. 💜🍸
Liberace was a talented musician. He was all glitz, so why shouldn't his cars be also? When I was a kid, it was a special TV might when Liberace was to perform. Thank you for the memories Wonderhussy!
Around 1957 my then stepfather was a photographer. He took me to Liberace's home in Sherman Oaks. I met him and I will say he was very nice. He wasn't flamboyant nor dressed garishly. I remember the piano pool because it was such a novelty. Secondly most of the cars in the collection are kit cars on vw frames or special builds from a GM car.
This is so cool. 15 or more years ago we visited the Liberace museum as a good friend of ours was the director of it so we got a private tour. Wish I could find the pictures I took. There were cars, pianos and outfits on display. Fun to see the cars and maybe that will expand to show more of his stuff. Thanks for the tour.
How cool! Liberace inspired me to play piano. He had a TV show where his grand piano had a reflective keyboard wall which looked absolutely awesome when he played. He wore outfits laced with diamonds which looked spectacular. His brother George played the violin, not for me. Liberace was the pianist who told a reporter he was going to cry his way to the bank when he was asked about a lackluster review. If he was around today I'm sure he would take you out in that Rolls Wonderhussy. The lipstick you speak of was designed so that a married man wouldn't have to go home with lipstick on his collar. I wonder what his Palm Springs house is like? Fantastic Wonderhussy, you never cease to amaze us fans. Can I give this one an extra like?
Thank you, and Suzy, for the nice tour! It was fun seeing the Liberace cars, and you dressed-up - you looked great! Hope you do more tours of the sites around Vegas. Best wishes for another adventure soon! Stay awesome, adventurous, safe and smiling! 🧧🤙🌺🍷🌅
Sarah, IIRC, the Liberace Museum was on the corner, with an ante-building directly behind, and the Tivoli Gardens Restaurant was across the parking lot to the side, but my memory fades. I talked to Dora Liberace, George's wife, who showed me some of the family photo albums. George was in the Navy during WWII. He was a band leader, touring the Pacific, entertaining the troops. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Jon
I love your videos Sarah....interesting and allot of fun....youre so cute....your hair is beautiful....how do you keep your teeth so nice and white....ive wondered that for a long time...you be careful out there Sarah Jane !!!
My mother is a huge Liberace fan and knows almost everything a fan could about him. Liberace chose that neighborhood because it was an easy, fast commute to the strip hotels when he was in residency at a couple of the different hotel showrooms. Good to see the new owners have restored the house and are keeping it up. In the early 2000s we visited it when it was abandoned, boarded up and run down. It was the eyesore of the neighborhood. Good to see it looking good again. Thanks for sharing!
What a great video. After watching this, I looked up Liberace on UA-cam and found videos of his homes interior, and one of his Rolls used as a stage prop. Just thought that someone might enjoy knowing this.
On the right here we have a bug , and on the left right up here a bit is a bug , and then up here on the right is a oh ha a bug . Couldn't resist . Love your videos . LOL
Lmao @ "Star Spangled Sausage". 🤣 Awesome tour! Would you concider doing a part 2, with the artifacts museum and his grave site? Never been a Liberace fan. But, you've made it all very interesting! 🇺🇲🎹🎹🎹🇺🇲
I went to the Liberace Museum not too long before they closed it. Seems to me the gift shop with somewhere inside the big mirrored area. It was really fun to see all of the wonderful costumes and some of the cars. I love the bling as well! 💍👠🎼🎹
Great video, Darlin' and you look marvelous, by the way(8-). Thanks for the tour and thank Susy for us next time you chat with her....and maybe take her on an explore with you sometime. She might have a blast(8-)
Great video I really enjoyed it! I’m a car guy and I really enjoyed looking at all of his cars. I am a piano player and I enjoyed his music in the background, although they could’ve turned it up a notch.
Thank you for such a fab adventure into Liberace Las Vegas. I'm glad they are outfitting a museum because I missed the first one. He was an unusually gracious man. As kids we loved his shows televised in NZ, everybody did, mums, dads, you could not not like him. Wish they'd do reruns...need alot more Liberace these days.
Loved his shows, always cracked me up when people would ask to touch his cloths or something, he would say "Of course you can, you bought it" LOL. Very talented character! Thank you for the video!
I used to live in Palm Springs in 1986-1989. He passed away during the time while I was living there....the house on Belardo drive....I used to drive by his house just to stare....lol....see what I could see....
I know you wear you hair up most the time cuz its hot down on your neck and shoulders in the desert....but got to tell you your long hair is beautiful down once in a while...!!!
I enjoyed your video of Liberace’s cars, jewelry and the costumes. I was surprised to see the the former Liberace Museum was now a taco restaurant. I ate once at Tivoli Gardens as well. I enjoyed my meal there as well. My late Mom was the historian/archivist at the Liberace Museum for many years. There was much more information available if you knew someone who worked at the Museum when it was open. I attended the same party you did in 2013 at the Liberace home now owned by a new owner. The current owner had just published a new book and had a private party at his home. There was quite a bit to see in Liberace’s former home. The bathtub was amazing. Again, I enjoyed your video of the Liberace sites in Vegas. I lived in Las Vegas 29 years and visited the museum quite a few times while my Mom worked there.
My wife is jealous of any woman with long hair, she loves that style. I didn’t know Liberace had so many cars. Very interesting and thanks for sharing!
Good video and nice change of pace! I was dragged to the museum years ago. I actually enjoyed it lol! Too bad it is gone. Liberace was the highest paid performer in Las Vegas in his hey days. Over at the Riviera. Elvis supposedly got his fashion sense for his jumpsuits from Liberace....Also. His old house is haunted. Well done W.H. Thanks again!
I remember Liberace in my younger years. In the 60s, he appeared, several times, in 'Batman,' as identical twins; one good, one evil. He wasn't bad as an actor. He would also appear on variety shows and get into some comedy sketches. During his colorful costume period, I kept thinking of him as "America's Elton John." Sarah, you are a wonderful reporter for the exotic, you see the humour, but never in a cruel or demeaning way.
I know someone who lives in a former 19th Century Brothyl on Oakland that hat a 1960s vintage Cadillac that supposedly belong to Liberace. This guy also plays Piano, but is more of a Boogie Woogie. The Saloon on the property was in the movie Paradise Club and I managed to be a glorified extra in the band.
Yes !! You should wear your hair down more often. I know why you didn't realize you forgot the right earring because you always shoot with your left hand and your right ear is rarely seen. Gotta change hands once in awhile. This was a fun explore, thanks.
The mention was run down for years😳. Until, this fabulous European totally saved it and now it will ALWAYS be taken care of! FABULOUS, JUST...FABULOUS!!💯👏
Every time I have been in Vegas for Photoshop World I have wondered where all of Liberace's attractions were. Thanks for the grand tour. It was a great informational lesson!
Oh how fun YAY❣I love your shares ❣ the first concert I ever went to was Liberace I was eight years old(1978) and my grandmother took my cousin and I , the circle Star Theater I believe it was called, in Redwood City California .Bless your heart, so glad you're healthy and having fun❣
You should have taken a selfie in the reflection of the mirror tiles, on one of the cars. That would be EPIC!!! Oh.....and love the long flowing locks. You'd make a great Rapunzel!
The Liberace House reminds me of the Segfried and Roy house. I live pretty close to it and its in just a normal neighborhood pretty close to the ghetto.
Great video....I kept putting off visiting the old Liberace museum and then it closed. I always wondered what had happened to the collection in that building. Thanks for showing the cars, which I was most interested in anyway.

You are such a trip, had me laughing again, nice cars, he was a trippy guy. Hiked to the plane crash site where his brother died some 20 years ago, don't do that anymore. You get more beautiful every day, your imagination and talent should be used to expand your income. I'm glade your back, I hope you had a wonderful birthday it looks like you received a lot of cool stuff. I'm hoping it rains here in California soon, just everything is so dry, I hope some of that rain you had up in Washington will fallow you here. Well until next week stay safe and have fun.👍❤🇺🇸
Thank you for the tour. I probably will not make another trip [1990] there. Saw it when I was in your town, was surprise the neighborhood, not as fancy as I expected. Love your costume, how appropriate also.👣
The little red car is a Shay Model A replica, made in the 70s. Used Pinto Engine trans and rear end. The Surrey is a replica of a 1901 Oldsmobile Curved Dash. I actually have an original 1904 Curved Dash Oldsmobile in my garage. The VW, they used to sell fake Rolls Royce hood and grilles for them and Lincoln Continental spare tire cover. Cool stuff!
At Liberace’s house in Palm Springs, he used to practice the piano in his garage with the garage door open. That was in the 1970s. Imagine walking by his home and getting a free concert.

I remember Liberace in my younger years. In the 60s, he appeared, several times, in 'Batman,' as identical twins; one good, one evil. He wasn't bad as an actor. He would also appear on variety shows and get into some comedy sketches. During his colorful costume period, I kept thinking of him as "America's Elton John." As an old hippie, I love women with long, flowing hair. It suits you as a nature girl.
He was a bit over the top for my tastes, but I admire his sense of proportion, when asked how he felt about critical reviews he is supposed to have responded, “I’m crying all the way to the bank.” 10 out of 10 for style. Sarah, you are a wonderful reporter for the exotic, you see the humour, but never in a cruel or demeaning way.

Thank you for the tour. I probably will not make another trip [1990] there. Saw it when I was in your town, was surprise the neighborhood, not as fancy as I expected. Love your costume, how appropriate also.👣
This is an amazing video of some of LV history.
Thanks
Wonderhussy, you look fabulous behind the wheel of that Silver Cloud!
Cool stuff!
Liberace takes a beautiful Rolls and turns it into a FABULOUS ROLLS.
