A great part of Gradey and Jakobe is the size they present at their positions.

Another fantastic Podcast episode Samson. I know I keep giving these accolades, but I keep being impressed by how good of a job you do in discussing this game. So many people are doing this…who shouldn’t be. You need a National platform. You’re that good IMO. Thank you for another fantastic watch/listen.

I certainly agree with the optimism about Ja'Kobe. Way too early to care about his shooting percentages (as with Gradey last season). He plays the game the right way.
If championship is the goal, then this season was NEVER about seeing how BBQ + P fit together. Raps are still in asset acquisition mode. We're not drafting for need, we're drafting BPA (ideally not yet another 6' 5" guard). 2025-2026 is the season to see if and how it all fits together.

Maybe if we draft pick 5 and an SG is BPA we may want to trade one for a bigger-D wing or Current backup C trending toward starter. I like both but we don’t need 3 “Starting level” SG and RJ likely more SG than SF.

But yet still many fans want Yak to be traded not realizing how importsnt it is to RJ& IQ. Infact the BBQ core & GD.

RJ especially sticks out like a sore thumb w/ that ft %. For a guy that drives that much he must be better. He also needs to make better reads especially in the clutch. Outside of the officiating that was a reason why Raps lost the Knicks game. He & Gradey were terrible defensively. Not sure why Darko did not make better adjustments in the clutch. See what Thibs did. He subbed out offense ( Brunson) for defense ( Deuce).

Grady‘s mid range play is average and acceptable. We need him to shoot three points at a respectable range. He disappears the second half of all games that’s gotta change. I don’t wanna hear about his mid range game that’s useless. That’s for normal players. I want to see him hit the threes Especially when he’s open.

    • @samsonfolk2946
      @samsonfolk2946 Місяць тому +1

statistically his mid-range game is considered elite. agreed though, that we need to see the 3pt percentage climb

The tanking talk has no positives. I heard you and Trey mention that you haven’t heard a complete discussion on “ tanking”, that’s because there are none.
As I asked in many posts here and elsewhere, please show me a successful tanking.
How many tankers are willing to wait the many years of crappy bb in the hope that their chosen player will bring them a chip?.
One need not look further than the “ process”. I don’t know if it’s still ongoing, but the Sixers have nothing to show for their years of tanking.
Once invested in this tanking crap, and if we get a top pick, and that pick doesn’t work out the way we envisioned, then it becomes imperative to tank further.
A championship team takes years to craft, those who think that this will happen overnight are misguided.
Play the cards we have been dealt. Let the kids play. Let the coaching staff grow. Add as needed when appropriate. Stay the course. I’m sure Masai will do exactly as I’ve laid out here.
If by chance our record merits a high draft pick, then I trust Masai to pick a player who will accelerate our reach for our second championship.
    Let the kids play.
    Go Raptors Go

It's obvious that the word tanking is triggering a defensive response.
It doesn't take a genius to see the Raptor cupboard is bare.
The Raptors are trying to trade for players but they refuse Toronto, ie dejante Murray.
Look at what happened with Fred.
This whole idea of puttering along and adding as we go only works if the players on the team and in the league believe in the direction.
Saying there hasn't been a successful team that has tanked and then proceed to die on that hill is so intellectually dishonest.
I have a better metaphor for you. Imagine managing a team is like managing stocks. The price of a company often has to hit the bottom for investors to feel bullish.
The post championship team was over leveraged and over bullish.
This isn't tanking, it's 'forcing a bottom" so the Raptors can build on an identity on an affordable roster.
Raptors need better contracts on the books to build out the roster and the only way is to draft because Boston, New York, and California will always beat us.
