14:18 Holy shit! Hearing Noble, Joey, Aki and Misty’s name all together again for the first time in a long time gave me massive whiplash! I remember those guys being basically be THE icons when it came to anime content
Noble- doing Visual Novel let’s plays
    Joey- doing anime break downs
Aki- analyzing anime tropes and her famous Vocaloid videos
Misty- breaking down anime recommendations based on what kind and type of anime you were looking for
I loved seeing those guys together, they were the reason why I started going to Anime Expo, I got a chance to meet them, not all of them in one place but still
It’s sad that they broke up, still a mystery for the reason to this day, but at this point is long past that and probably doesn’t matter, Joey and Aki came out as a couple and living together, Nobles is doing his own thing hanging out with Vtubers and making new context moving on from his VN anime games days (honestly miss those days) and Misty is happy I’ll married and with 2 kids and sadly left the channel due to YT striking his channel constantly
There was great memories with them and hope they do well on their own paths
….also is no one gonna talk about that time they all got drunk on stream started making out with each other, HOLY FUCK were Joey and Noble giving each other some tongue action!!

One of the biggest questions for any content creator, across any medium, is how long they will be remembered once they stop making content. I think Garnt's going to be remembered for an exceptionally long time as being one of the earliest GOATs of anime UA-cam, and one of the first (or was he actually the first?) to start making an actual living off of anime UA-cam content.
The more serious videos he's done over the years really hit different, like "You'll Grow Out Of Anime...Eventually" (holy shit this was 6 years ago) and "The Anime that Inspired Me", among others.

If you skip this understanding how huge noble,Misty,Joey and Akis hitting UA-cam really was. Because in that time anime UA-cam content hit a 2 year place where there was nothing new interesting or and most importantly Unique happened and everything felt the same. The discussions around anime shifted drastically toward deeper critical analysis than just (relatively) surface-level discussion.

One person you forgot to mention from the Blip/ThatGuywiththeGlasses days is Bennett the Sage. The dude was the first guy to do reviews of older and not as well like anime (thing Mad Bull 34 and the Devilman OVAs) and is still doing reviews/analysis videos to this day. The guy is one of the only reviews from the TTWTG era that survived the Channel Not Awesome fallout and do pretty well for himself.

After over a decade of lurking and watching anime content creators, I'm now in the (small-scale "successful") beginnings of my own anime UA-cam career.

But what got me into anime channels, despite being an anime fan as a child never thought anime reviews were that interesting, was Minecraft.
And from Minecraft, there are channels, some that discussed briefly about anime.
With the boom of anime on UA-cam surges with TheAnimeMan and similar, SkyDoesMinecraft, the biggest MC channel in its time had talked about anime, and collabed with another anime channel called "Einshine". A famous anime/gaming channel that collabed even with TheAnimeMan. But as time went on, both Sky and Einshine went through horrid controversies.
Einshine was a manipulator and tried to get sexual favors from underaged girls and other women, and Sky manipulated and abused his girlfriend and wife, friends, pet, etc.
UA-cam, while the early stages was truly freeing, had horrific stuff that goes unnoticed. As much as I loved the past, I'm kind of glad it's gotten so big, evil people get what they deserve.

Back then there was a French group of voice actors that got the permission to translate his older videos and it was very successful in France. This led me to go look at his more recent videos and discover anitube. At this time, anime was actually bigger in French yt than in English, but there was a lot of growth since then in English content's popularity while French content stagnated, and it has shown.

Let's not forget the opinion and taste at that time was diverse. Because at that time the community made up of anyone who fond anime by random chances; people who got into Anime because their childhood show was still stuck inside their head or Japanese/Filipino who didn't had anyone in real life to share their experience with.
I don't see anyone talk about Blue Exorcist, Escaflowne, Shakugan no Shana, Black Bullet, Darker Than Black or Inuyasha. Once in a while an obscure Anime that someone found would be talked about not just some Anime that was currently airing.

God, It really hits you when you can remember most of the names that popped up in this video just how long you've been watching Anitube. I think I found your channel wayyyy back in 2008 after I was looking for some anime recs. stuck around cause I liked your content and Arkada's.
I still hold to this day that the "Men-taku" episode of J-taku was peak. Like it was just a bunch of guys opening up about their biggest fetishes and talking shit about each other. 🤣
But the landscape nowadays is probably the best form of Anitube and I'm glad to be a part of it.

The only missing chapter is the abridged chapter. I would love to hear Garnt talk about abridged culture in the early 2010’s

Abridged videos were part of how I got into anime as a hobby rather than just watching toonami in the first place

As someone who is currently 15 years old, I grew up with story-time animators (like JaidenAnimations, Odd1sout, Daidus, Emirichu, Domics etc..) and moved onto AniTube. I think Aki's videos were one of the first ever videos that led me down the wormhole of anime content and I am completely baffled to see how long AniTube had been up-

I’m so glad you mentioned digibro. They were really an amazing analyzer who was polarizing due to their strong opinions but I found that refreshing even if I didn’t agree because it was simply interesting to watch digi talk so passionately about a medium they cared so much about :)

God damn, I already knew Demo D was definitely going to get mentioned, but it still hit me hearing how he was the top dog around the community.
I miss you dad, please come back

Thank you so much for your time and sticking around and battling to build what all this has become. its been an absolute joy to have watched your growth and to have grown up with your content in my life lol from being a kid. I look at alot of the anime content in my life and to see you pull in other creators that also made happen. Freaking bless your brain and who you are!!
youve set a standard and flourished from it creating trash taste. Damn it i cant wait to see the further creations from its influence.Trash Taste is literally the irl version of what Ufotable did with Demon slayer for anime. Change my mind.

I will never forget the first video i watched on your channel: Top 20 epically cool anime characters part 1. At the time, I was bullied alot for being an anime fan here in Kenya. Nobody understood it. Imagine being the only kid in a boarding school of 1000 students and nobody to talk to about anime for 4 years and being ridiculed and beaten because of it. My mum took me to a shrink "for still watching cartoons at my age". Your videos, gave me the strength to continue liking this thing called anime and that it was okay. Thank you so much for keeping on with the content all these years.

I don't think I was ever into anime youtubers, but I remember back before netflix and finding shows online was a thing trying to watch Pokemon on youtube (along with JP Zatch Bell). Episodes would be broken up into parts (usually 3), and there would be so many bait videos with the correct thumbnail, title, and length, only to be nothing. Channels would get taken down and pop back up as others and keep posting. I remember one in particular for Pokemon was Castodian, and I would check his channel so frequently trying to see if there were updates. Those really were simpler times.

As someone new to being an anime centric channel I found this video to be pretty interesting. I had heard of a lot of the names you talked about in a lot of different places but enjoyed your take on it all. I'm curious what the future of this all looks like as it appears there's a lot of deep change in creators content and styles. I started out making a heavier load of anime reviews and talks but after having a lot of issues with using clips and such it's really taken a back seat to Japanese/anime gaming. There's a lot of things I want to do with anime topics but also a high risk with doing it.

One of YT Channel that influenced me the most when watching Anime is TopAnimeWeekly because in my opinion he has good taste in Anime / picking the best ones airing each season. I think he needs more recognition and I think
Gigguk also knows or still remembers this channel.
