    Wow. Impressive! Although I don't have a 3D printer, I still enjoyed watching your solution to a pretty common problem.

    The buffer's needed to prevent filament loosen on a spool. Loose filamanent will lead to a tangle eventually, so there's still a room for improvement...

    • @skelobones
      @skelobones 3 місяці тому

      Maybe it can have some sort of force tugging it backwards, pulling it straight back into the loop

    • @tinkerman-q
      @tinkerman-q 2 місяці тому

      The filament cannot tangle with itself without a loose end, it's impossible. With the walls preventing it from tangling with other things the worse it can happen is filament bending due to an oblique angle (which I can't tell if this would happen in this setup.

      @fabio-franco that's absolutely an incorrect statement. Pretty obvious you've never been fishing, and been fishing with a baitcaster real. Your statement is 100% invalid. And maybe need to do your research. No open end on a baitcaster and everyone knows the term "bird nest" when you cast and an excess of line unwinds and causes a mess that you'll be fighting for a long time. With knots and everything. So yes absolutely this box can cause the same issue.

    • @tinkerman-q
      @tinkerman-q Місяць тому

      @@savedbygrace5436 I think you confusing fishing with knot theory. Go study a bit and come back when you have a more empirical argument to make. You may want to study unknotting theorem, which is a series o mathematical concepts around this subject.

      @@tinkerman-q so tell me then, why is it not possible for it to tangle without a loose end? What would stop it from happening?

    The outlet of the filament should better be under the spool center and not above. Sometimes, when the spool gets empty, it can cause problems when the outlet is above the center of the spool lifting it up. I had that several times especially with spools made of paper. Lowering the outlet to the ground completely solved that for me.

    Preventing the spools from spilling over onto each other is nice.. But even with this, if you're shoving that much filament back into the box to make that a potential problem, you're STILL risking the filament loops binding up on themselves within the same spool.

    I'm not sure is that is a drybox ? can't see any silica gel, moreover the tubes for filament are not sealed so the humidity can get inside. could you put a humidity sensor inside to prove that it's drier inside than outside ?

    • @Dombi3D
      @Dombi3D  11 днів тому

      I use silica gel bags what inside, what you can see underneath the spools. Humidity sensors I have installed with my other boxes, and they work fine but with time need to swap batteries, so I keep an eye on the bag color pad now, and when it needs, I put it into the microwave to recharge, and you are good to go.

    Why not just make a tiny little clip that goes on the bottom of the spool so it cant spin(think wheel chock) instead of wasting a mountain of filament on that wall….lol

    • @Dombi3D
      @Dombi3D  14 днів тому

      The problem here is not stopping the spin. The Printer by every filament color change retracts around 30cm filament which needs to go somewhere and if you do not have the walls it will jam the spool.
