Was floored hearing they spoke another language.. all these years, I never knew that. Joni was absolutely gorgeous and had such a beautiful speaking voice. Rest well doll.
Kathy Sledge's voice is the most mesmerizing and captivating of all the female singing voices I have ever heard. Kim Carnes' voice somewhat resembles Kthy's. The four Sledge sisters are beautiful, and they are the greatest thing that the world of music has produced ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I concur, just hearing her talk is a treat… i wish she could have been produced. By a jam and Lewis, Babyface, Quincy Jones or even a Timberland or Pharrell.
I mean ppl really don't have 50 leven chirren anymore 💀💀👶🏾👀👀👀 and the Jacksons really ain't carrying on the family legacy that much soo... 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️ but there is Waynmor 🎤 #familyaffair #familygroups #bringitback #talentedfam #gifts #starsearch #siblings
I loved sister sledge i played all their songs and still do, i love the song lost in music and we are family, they all are great singers and very pretty, i miss those days music had meaning. feelings. love. she will be missed all time great group, we love you and will miss you rest in peace.
I love this one, love the group, it's hard to pick a favorite, they're all my favorite, they're likable and so on, it's hard to not love them or like them. I so love them much. 😍
Back in the day before Weaves, pieces & Wigs took over. So Happy that more artist/celebrities today are back to wearing their own hair out more often than Not.
You had to be polished and attractive to a certain level in The biz back in that day. Even while being hit on by the man that could make or break your record sales. I remember this like yesterday, American Bandstand came on first then SoulTrain. It was a big deal back in the day in an inexplicable way unlike stardom of today. No one was as smooth as Don Cornelius though, Dick Clark was always super positive and a big fan as well of all of his guests.
Beautiful sister group and sadly Joni has passed the one in blue. Loved your music then and still hear and love it now. This is music that never forgets.
Now let me go listen to some Sister Sledge.Narada Michael Walden was a great producer but when Nile Rodgers/Bernard Edwards did the music,it was on another level
I remember when this originally aired. They sang "All American Girls" and "He's A Runaway." They looked great and I thought the album was their best since "We Are Family." I was really disappointed at the lackluster interest it received. I still think it's one of their most underrated and best studio albums.
My goodness, the guy would be sued and out of the show in a second today for making those comments. I wonder whether we have gained more freedom or otherwise!
If just shows how out of touch people are today in this current world, millenials and all. Just totally insecure and overly sensitive to everything and everyone. I totally enjoyed the great Dick Clark's interview of these incredibly gorgeous women. How he joked and played around with them, but didn't go overboard with the play and banter was just classic Dick Clark. May he and Joni Sledge both R.I.P.!
Cannot EVEN imagine a host acting this way now!! Dick Clark was cool but in this clip he behaved like a horny Jr. High kid at their first Boy-Girl dance. Joni was so naturally beautiful, classy and talented as they all were. Man, I miss the 80’s!!
Dick is the right name for this arrogant host. He was so harsh to Kim rushing her to name the place the group were going to attend to. Snapping his fingers in Kim's face to remember ...that was degrading. However Sister Sledge is more than just a pretty face interested in speaking different languages. ..They really care for fans overseas. I love Sister Sledge. OXOXO
This arrogant host was not arrogant at all...he was Dick f---ing Clark....he made people by permitting them to grace his stage. Your interpretation is f---ed and entirely over the top. He loved S-S because he gave them 10 minutes of BS and banter when he could have given them a quick 30 second interview tease. Baby, you are sooooo wrong in your assessment. If you weren't there, don't pretend that you know shit about who was.
@@petewentz3528 Hi Pete, I have to say that having watched it I also ind Dick Clark cringeworthy on this clip - it doesn't matter that he was a powerful industry man. He didn't make people by "letting them grace his stage" - he would have an empty stage and no show at all without class acts like Sister Sledge. They made it on their own with sophisticated and polished talent and with very understated and likable personalities. It doesn't matter that Angel Face "wasn't there" - that would apply to most of the 89,000 people who have watched this. He bangs on about how "available" they may be, touches their skirts more than once and clamps a pervy hand on a shoulder and does rush them for answers! I am not a post "Me Too" revisionist, should anyone bring that up, either. This was obnoxious behaviour all those years ago too - except women were just expected to take it and be grateful for being on a TV show...
@@7554EdwardG I don't give a shit whether you call yourself Me Too or not. You refuse to accept history, cultural evolution, and social acceptable behavior, appropriate for the times. Clark was just doing his job...and help catapulting a minority act only otherwise seen on Soul Train into national prominence. He didn't feel them up under their skirt, he accentuated their sex appeal and choreography. All this inappropriate behavior was also going on and more on Black programs (including Soul Train) but you won't touch that either will you? Old Don had that long, 12 inch mic dangling all over the face and mouths of his female guests....not like we didn't know what that long, hard mic was symbolizing now, right? Baby, folks like you need their ever loving heads examined, and that mush and brain re-washed. You are so fucked up....it is pathetic. Live a little, baby, and get with the program.

They wore wigs in 50s, 60s, 70s, and weaves in 90s. The one on the right has extensions-she bought that hair

Love the way they speak perfect.. awesome Sisters Sledge 👌
Wow, when they spoke those other languages so fluent, I was like yeah they were definitely were some amazing, talented women. So underrated.
All graduates of Temple University.
These talented,
classy and talented ladies handled themselves well considering how rude and unpleasant Dick Clark was interviewing them.
