    It was the first music video released after Babymetal's one-year hiatus, which felt like a very long time to us fans. I will never forget the great emotion I felt when this was released, and the fact that SU-METAL wrote the lyrics made this song very special to me.

    Great "first" reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊As has been said, they always had this sort of song up their sleeve, but most people heard 'Gimme Chocolate' and assumed everything else would be like that and too many people looked no further or forgot about them.
    In their nearly 13 years now they have worked hard and put their hearts and souls into what they do, always striving for excellence in every aspect ... but especially in their live performances.
    You have a lot of catching up to do - and please don't neglect the older songs that you may not have heard. They have about 60 songs now, each one different to the last. Some songs are hard and dirty metal, some lean a long way towards their pop roots and they do everything in between.
    They have songs in virtually every metal genre and they will mix or blend in so many other musical styles and genres with the metal - usually when you least expect it. They are both innovative and unique, there is nobody quite like them (some have tried of course, none have come close yet).
    The whole concept was formed and developed around lead vocalist Su-metal's vocal talents and stage presence, but the addition of Yuimetal and Moametal to involve and lead the crowds with their choreographed dance and chants was an inspired decision.
    Sadly Yui left the band in October 2018 after a 12 month absence because of poor health. Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo to reach their 10th anniversary and were supported by any one of three dancers (the Avengers Riho, Kano and Momoko) who would take turns dancing in the third spot.
    After taking a break for a year or more BABYMETAL are back with this new album and touring again and on 1st April this year it was revealed that former Avenger Momoko is the new third member of BABYMETAL.
    You already have some excellent suggestions for more songs - I would say go back to the first album, but live versions of 'Rondo of Nightmare' live at Budokan Black Night from 2014 (this is one of 4 Su-metal solo songs and has an instrumental intro from their backing band, the Kami Band, so you can see something of them too) and the Legend 1997 (concert in December 2013 celebrating Su-metal's 16th birthday) live performance of 'Headbanger' - you can find good quality videos for that on Gans Tomas or abr metal channels.

      100% agree with the 'Gimmie Chocolate' sentiment. Don't get me wrong, I adore the song (And the band). However when a reaction channel starts with that I inwardly cringe a bit because the majority of them think that's all the band is capable of. like "oh, that was cute.... moving on!" and they never touch the band again. I think that assumption stems from most bands only having a single style with their songwriting.
      Babymetal however, has multiple styles... and that's because their songs are written to couch themselves within a massive live performance. Gimmie chocolate itself was written as a hype track to be played between larger more complicated songs.
      I think if people viewed their work as more of a live audiovisual concept album where some songs might lose a bit of their oomph if played out of context, then people might investigate the rest of their body of work more.
      The reality is that the entire team that makes babymetal possible (Band, vocalists, choreo, set designers, etc) create some of the most amazing musical experiences on the planet. It's really unfortunate to me that a lot of people will never break through that top layer to see the deep and richly layered ocean of music/theatrical experiences that babymetal has to offer.
      Anyways, the reaction here was great :) I'm about to check his channel to see if there's any more babymetal stuff :)
      Babymetal fans (Speaking of myself and others I know of) love to see reactions a bit more than other fans... because there's a live component and community aspect to babymetals work. I mean... we're literally called 'The one' by the band (Ie; a way for them to solidify their legion of fans into a single force of nature lol). We even have a word for people rummaging through babymetal content called 'Going down the foxhole'.
      This morning alone I've watched 9 babymetal reactions with my coffee lol.
      I've yet to find a channel which has reacted to an entire liveshow in play order... but maybe one day I'll be able to virtually enjoy watching one remotely with a reaction channel lol.
      Anyways, if the uploader sees this, great review!
      I've had a hard life and enjoying babymetal with other people takes the edge off waking up in the morning sometimes :) Glad to have you in the foxhole with us!

    You have a lot to catch up on! They have so many great and diverse songs and I think there has to be at least a couple you'd enjoy from the first album too, like Akatsuki live at Budokan Black Night 2014. Then you have BxMxC from the third album, where Su-metal raps, that song is insanely high energy. I don't know what songs you've heard from them before, but I can tell you that exploring everything BABYMETAL has to offer is a fun journey and perhaps you will enjoy it now that you're more, quote, "open minded". They certainly opened my eyes to a whole new world.

    BABYMETAL have matured over the years and rather spectacularly! There's a new member in Momometal (in Yui's place after she left due to health reasons) and there's a new album just released. Glad you've come back to give them some listenings!

    Certainly the difference between this and say, Gimmie Chocolate 10ish years ago couldn't be more stark. They've proven they were more than just a gimmick and could evolve and grow with age.

    You and me both! I actually first heard them way back when they first came out, but they were so young and kawaii that I completely dismissed them as a novelty act. I only recently stumbled across their newer stuff now that they’re older, and jfc, they’re amazing!

  • @road-runner

    Great reaction, thanks and welcome to BABYMETAL.
    Okay, you probably watched "Gimme Chocolate" and ran away as fast as you could. 😁 I can understand it, you are not the first. But the thing is that they are too diverse to pigeonhole them for one or two songs. Actually they have many early songs which are very serious both lyrically and musically.
    "Divine Attack" is obviously from their latest album, THE OTHER ONE, released a few weeks ago. And it's a great song with several cool features like the drum & bass sections, a smooth drive, some heavy riffing a nice orchestral touch and, of course, Su-metal's amazing vocals.
    What's next? Now it's your choice and here are my suggestions:
    Something older: "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" (Live at Sonisphere 2014): ua-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/v-deo.html
    or newer stuff: "Mirror Mirror" (official music video): ua-cam.com/video/7uOoH2PTYl0/v-deo.html
    Until next time!

    Babymetal was always this good. The production on the albums was letting them down. Their live shows always sounded amazing.
    The new Babymetal is more mature. The old Babymetal was more creative. Depends what you value.

    BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno (Yui left in 2018 due to health reasons). Both Moa and Yui were only 11 when the group began.
    All three were friends and classmates who attended an idol school (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life the girls would learn and train to be idols and graduate at age 15 to move onto whatever entertainment path they chose.
    Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result.
    At first Amuse showed no interest and the girls had only financing from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues) and Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia).
    If you choose to explore more of BabyMetal I suggest reacting to LIVE performance videos as this is where they shine.
    They have over 50 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more.
    Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.)
    Suggest reacting to these for a start.
    Karate LIVE at 2016 Download Festival in the UK where 60,000+ British metal heads sing along with the girls.
    Megitsune LIVE at Budokan 2021
    Road of Resistance LIVE in Japan
    Headbanger LIVE
    Catch Me If You Can LIVE with Kami Band intro
    At their concert in Yokohama on April 1 it was announced that a permanent third member Momoko Okazaki who is also a graduate of Sakura Gakuin and has been appearing with them LIVE since 2019) has officially become the third member.
    Their new album in my opinion that released March 24 is amazing with so many different styles.
    Good luck and hope to see you again.

    The new album is only 1/2 good to me. 50% of the songs are killer but the other 1/2 are a little too poppy for me. I got a CD and have had it on repeat so some of the other songs might grow on me a bit more.

    • @schneider1112
      @schneider1112 Рік тому +10

      Others will say 1/2 is good and the other 1/2 is too heavy, that's the beauty of BABYMETAL, they got tracks for everyone and it's been like that with every album. I enjoy the poppy and the heavy equally, so for me it's all great.

    • @bradkornatowski3866
      @bradkornatowski3866 Рік тому +5

      @@schneider1112 Yeah, I said "for me" a few times. I know BABYMETAL does the song for everyone thing. Most of their albums where 90% good for me but this one is 60% but a few more songs might grow on me.

    • @emb5091
      @emb5091 Рік тому +2

      I think I understand how you feel about this album. Luckily, the 50% of songs that are just "ok" to me have grown on me the more I listened to them. For me, poppy isn't my biggest problem, it's that there are songs, such as Metal Kingdom, that don't excite me, and I'm not a fan of the Mirror Mirror lyrics because they make me think of a Disney cartoon, but I do love it's heavy parts. I like more songs on this album than Metal Galaxy, and I like this album enough to not hit "skip" on any songs.
