Hi thank you for the video... Your clam shell never went all the way down. To fix this did you adjust the rod? The one with the bolt in the middle of it. Thanks.
Great job! I have a 2000 Boxster and the top also does not work so I am going to try and order the Relay first. do you know where you get it and what the part number is. Thanks, Dave
How do you remove that initial plastic cover that sits on top of the ragtop lifting mechanism? I can't seem to get it off. And my top is stuck in the up position. Think the plastic gear has cracked on the transmission.
It’s just a method people use to get the top to fold a little easier. Can’t do it with the glass window but what you do is lower the top just a little, until it’s about 2-4 inches from the roof frame and then get out of the car and Karate chop the plastic window so it folds towards the cabin of the car. Then proceed as normal
Good job and getting the clamshell and top back working, gotta love our "cheap" Porsches! Keep up the videos.
It wasn’t too bad once I really dove into it. It’s a really simple system. The car has just been fantastic and so simple to fix.
Thank you for this video, I have a similar project and this video has helped me alot. Looking forward to more videos.
Those roof blots are 80nm and whats very important is you loctight them when you torque them back up

Hello, after a few cycles and lubricating the mechanisms the clamshell did go down all the way.

The relay is on the drivers side kick panel if I remember right. It’s very easy to get to and you can get them on eBay for a decent price
Relay part number is 98661811102.
Nice video. What’s the part number of the $7 clips you mentioned ? Thanks
Porsche Boxster Soft Top Safety Clip Lock Nut part number 99916607509
....997 widebody conversion.....check the market place for that haha. looking good dude!
Matt Pratt oh I’m looking at that already 😂 it’s a bit expensive though.
may I ask where you get the metal gears from? I'm in NZ and parts are expensive so order from overseas. FCP are limited to what they supply.

I just grabbed and pulled. It was a cheap car so I wasn’t worried about breaking anything. Sorry for the late reply, hope you got it figured out

Good stuff man. Keep up the vids.
Thanks man! Hopefully I’ll get another project in soon. Something that will gain more subscribers cause my numbers have been stagnant for a bit.
If the motor is OK I'd think the relay would be ok. How many miles on the car?
It ended up being the relay. I shot power directly to the motor to test it on a bench. I sold the car but I think it had 109xxx miles
Can you give links ir names if the parts. Thank again for a great video
I got most of these parts on eBay. I’ll put links in the description for you now.
If you get another 300zx, manual with t-tops, I'd be interested
I’m about to do a full nut and bolt restoration on a TT five speed Z. Updates coming soon on that
