- Full recipe in the description! I like to pretend that I have 15 friends and we all sit around and have a huge piece of this five kilo behemoth. The richest, most indulgent cake you'll never get around to baking, this death by chocolate monster cake packs a whopping 13,000 calories and is the biggest crowd pleaser ever. Just don't feed it to anyone who has anything important to do afterwards - because this cake will leave you so satisfied that you'll want to curl up and reflect on it for a couple of hours.
Chocolate Monster cake full recipe:
200g softened butter
400g caster sugar
220g all purpose flour
130g ground almonds
100g unsweetened kakao
20g baking powder
Good pinch of salt
8 eggs
350ml milk
3 teaspoons of instant coffee
Bake in a pre heated oven at 160 degrees fan setting for around 45-50 minutes
Around 6 tablespoons of raspberry jam (seeds removed)
Ganache recipe
180g butter
450ml milk
500g milk chocolate
500g dark chocolate
If you want to half this recipe it's pretty straight forward. The cake recipe can be easily halved and one cake will take around 30-35 minutes at 160 fan.
The ganache recipe for a one tier cake is up to you really. You can choose to cut and fill the single tier with a layer of ganache or simply pour the ganache over the top like a sacher torte. Either way you can cut the amount of ganache drastically. At the most you will need only half of this ganache recipe but if you just want to pour the ganache over the top you can just use a third or less of the ganache recipe. I suppose it depends how thick you like your chocolate glaze. Me? I like it as thick as a doorstep.
Enjoy!

At first I thought you were kidding when you said 1kg of chocolate lol
🤣🤣
That's the reason I m making it! any cake with that much chocolate must be flaming epic. Chocolate should always be served by the kilo lol 😂
Finally got round to making this. The ganache is very runny does it set Mr Teeside? Please can you let me know if it should be runny at first? And how long it takes to set - I forgot to make it last night. Thank you
It will be runny when warm but don't worry, it will then set firm as the chocolate and butter in the ganache cool down. It won't be so firm that the cake squashes when you cut into it but definitely firm enough to hold the cake without squeezing out of the sides. Having the correct consistency is very important before building the cake. You can set the ganache in the fridge or even the freezer if you're pushed for time but it will take a while. If the ganache sets too firmly, give very short bursts in the microwave to soften and stir well until you get the right thickness. Try to get it to the consistency shown in the video, especially before putting the filling of the cake on. Hope this helps.
@@TheTeessideChef thank you for the reply!....... You are amazing. I will post with my results 😊😊😊👍👍👍👍👍🤗
