Bloc Party live @ Maida Vale 2015

- 5.10.2015, Live at Maida Vale. This is not in HD because that's just how it is on the BBC website... It should be noted that compared to the livestream and radio broadcast this is incomplete and reordered, but I guess unless anybody properly ripped the livestream in good quality, this is an okay-ish alternative. The choir's a nice touch though.
Setlist:
Song for Clay (Disappear Here) (with Björk - Big Time Sensuality intro lyrics)
Banquet
The Good News
[Interview]
Octopus
Exes
This Modern Love
Really happy with the new members but still gunna miss the old ones
I agree. They still sound awesome and the new players are great but I also miss the magic of the former members.
Came here to make sure Louise could live up to matts incredible drumming. Couldn't be happier.
+Watsonisawesome been thinking the same myself, matt was rapid and sara jones was'nt keeping up and its good to see a new drummer that can keep up with his tempo.shame they did'nt perform (here we are) lol
Yup.
the fact that most of them cited Silent Alarms tracks as their favorite to perform live speaks volumes
I don't understand all the complaints about the band not sounding like they used to. To me, they sound better, seasoned and very, very focused...especially with the new band members. Louise and Justin definitely tore it up.
I never understand how can an audience stand still like human blocks when listening to live music, I can't even help to move my head a little with elevator music.. imagine being in front of a great band like that (the bands I love never tour on my country :(
I really wish Kele would sing the original intro to song for clay
I guess to mix it up but I agree
i think everybody grows up eventually, no matter how hard you try to keep them still in your head
new members definitely are great musicians but there was just something so special about "nerds-against-the-world" chemistry of the guys back in good old days
Banquet is at 5:14
this band is back and better than ever. the new songs are fantastic
Glad to see Russell is still an amazing fucking guitarist.
I cannot wait for 1-29-2016 Ready for some HYMNS ... ;)
Awesome as usual these guys have set the summer to plenty of my years, keep up the good work dudes!!
New songs feel like a sequel to a weekend in the city
That's interesting but how?
I think it will be a blend on AWITC and Intimacy. Perhaps with new elements in there.
+Luke “Bowl” Berrie That would be quite heavenly but hopefully they pick up the pace and speed it up a bit.
+hectorbeyonce To me, more Nextwave Sessions than AWITC.
i still love them no matter whattt
Buen royo!! Geniales again!!!
Thank you!
+LifeOfTheParty You like Bloc Party and The Strokes too? Or just JC?
Syafiq Pha Bloc Party is my favorite band and The Strokes are my 2nd favorite. I love Julian's solo stuff, I thought his album with The Voidz strangely great.
Couldn't agree with you more. Different from you, The Strokes is my favorite and Bloc Party is my 2nd probably. Yes he has done great album with The Voidz and I love all the songs especially Dare I Care, Johan Von Bronx and Business Dog. What's yours? And I found you on other Bloc Party's vid. Lol.
I thought you, well. I thought you had left the Blochead fandom at the end of the Four tour? I'm completely surprised to see you come around again. Missed seeing you again. Thank you for this.
Damn Louise!
WTF! It,now, really rocks steady... New BP rules! Respect to the MK1 line up!
Whatever happened at 4:12 was effing cool
rock them russell
oh i miss Matt so much. he had some power.
Digging Justin's new baseline input for Octopus
ALPHA GAMES
Sorry, nothing like matt's energy, doesn't seem right watching bloc without gordon and matt who both added so much more than was seen.
+Joe Reece I'm surprised how well Louise plays his tracks; the ones we've seen, at least.
Could you upload Mercury Rev's Maida Vale performance? I can't watch it on bbc since I'm not in the uk :/
The Cure
Louise makes a good replacement for Matt, sucks that Matt's gone because he is by far one of the best drummers of the 2000s but Louise is pretty rad. *nods head in approval*
This just feels wrong for me...what on earth happened?
You guys speak as if Matt was the most amazing drummer on the planet, as if no one else alive can play his stuff, which isn't that complex in all honesty.
Why they stopped playing Kettling live???
Did they tell the crowd not to dance or something
+almino44 This was in the middle of the day. People tend not to be in a partying mood at lunchtime unless they're at a festival and smashed.
+almino44 They pulled a Fugazi.
Was that the studio version of Good News in the intro?
+Finnbar Frank Jain - Ya, they edited the intro to include parts of Good News. -
EDIT - Oh wait - I'm totally HALF awake here. That actually sounded a tiny snippet of the studio version.
look at 7:56
+Finnbar Frank Jain Yeah it was on the BBC live broadcast... but not on here... hummmmmm
1997? thats wrong bloc party exist since 2003
No kele and Russell met in 1998 at reading festival I believe. And at that point they decided to form a band. They weren't really a big deal till 2003 though
+Sadjad Ali Do your research xD
+Dondochino i mean the line up with tong and moakes
+Sadjad Ali their line up wasn't set in stone until 2003 when both moakes and tong joined the band
Más madura la banda :) mejor música pero sin perder el peculiar sonido de antes
would rather watch lauren laverne doing a live set :(
Jools holland brought me here.
Hold the fuck up. Russell has a synth
Does anyone else wonder how well Louise could play skeleton?
bob dus there are some videos uploaded, check them out
What was his favorite song??
Who's
Watsonisawesome kele I don't think he said
+Silverio Vicente II He said This Modern Love
+JBTEvans ah I hear it now! At first it all kind of just blended in to one long thing lol My personally favorite is Octopus I feel the passion, whats your favorite?
+Silverio Vicente II yeah he does go on a bit before saying it haha. Octopus is a good song. My favourite is probably Uniform, either that or Halo.
Does everybody in the choir smoke 50 bongs a day?? Jesus fuck
the band seems to have lost all of the hard energy they had in the past that made me fall in love with them, maybe its because the crowd isnt really feeling it, but they just seemed out of it. Especially Louise she seems the most bored out of all of them, it sucks to see that she doesnt live up to matt. whatever, all great bands dry up eventually
Their performances aren't as energetic as it used to be. I feel like it's because of the age or maybe their popularity? The fans that they used to have has never caught on to their new sound? It is hard to say what it actually is but they are a great band. Kele and Russell have definitely put a lot of work into the band and it is sad to see them not be as epic as they used to be but I would still like to see them perform.
The choir is atrosious, New line up is all right, except for the choir.
I don't like the new guy on bass, he's just standing there and his singing is terrible...
They sound great but sorry, this is not Bloc Party, a pretty damn good Bloc Party tribute band but not quite the real thing, maybe if they change the name for MARK II...and let the real Bloc Party stay alive in our hearts and dreams only "sigh", still pretty good and nice sound.
oh man, not does the drummer is bad but Matt was light years better then her on the drums.
Matt is legendary. You can only ask for so much. The only way they could get a replacement that's even close to matts caliber is to have an actual clone of Matt.
+Watsonisawesome or they ask if Jack Bevan want to help out on the drums :D but then foals need aswell a replacement :D it is a infinity problem
