- A Michigan man stunned a judge during his video court hearing for a driving with a suspended license charge when he joined the hearing from behind the wheel of a moving vehicle.
The judge immediately interjected when Corey Harris joined his May 15 court hearing via Zoom with a visible seatbelt, clearly driving a car.
"Are you driving?" Hon. Judge Cedric Simpson asked the defendant.
"Actually, I'm pulling into my doctor's office," Harris replied. "Just give me one second, I'm parking right now."
The judge was visibly amused by the situation and chuckled before his tone became more serious as he read through the case.Court footage shows Judge Cedric Simpson’s dumbfounded reaction as the defendant, Corey Harris, dials into the court hearing from the driving seat.
I bet he drove himself to jail later that day.

That isn't how zoom meetings work. You connect to the meeting, the meeting does not connect to you. He chose to be driving and to connect to the meeting while he was driving.
@Rowgue51 I assume he had to answer at the exact or approximate time as it was a scheduled court meeting. It's not any different as having to appear in person at a given time. If he didn't answer, he probably would've had repercussions for failure to arrive, or in this case join.

The suspension is tied to a child support case with Saginaw County Friend of the Court. And in January 2022, a judge ordered that suspension be lifted to allow Harris to drive again. But according to the Michigan Secretary of State's office, they never received a clearance from the friend of the court in 2022, so Harris' suspension was never lifted.
Turns out.. he never even had a license all along

It turns out his license was not supposed to be suspended. A judge ordered the suspension to be rescinded several years ago and the order evidently didn't make its way to the Secretary of State.
