There's a book written by a ferry inspector about ferrymen in the Western Isles, before bridges replaced the boats. Alarming and hilarious tales of rickety boats and their owners setting out on great expanses of water. It makes you realise how isolated some of those communities were, and how important water transport was to locals and tourists alike. Anyway, a great view of the approaches and nice to see the Good Father thumping away.
Thanks for your kind comment. Father Brown had a great time up north. You're right about the remoteness of the isles, I remember going to visit relatives in Stornoway back in the 70's and it seemed to take forever to get there, so God only knows what it was like before then!!
According to Wikipedia "The name ’Armadale’, meaning ‘elongated valley’, derives from the Old Norse armr and dalr." . Enjoyed the vid - like being on pillion 🙂
Thanks for the info mate. 👍 And I'm glad you liked the video. 😁 One of these days I'll figure out how to add music and edit things a bit better. I'm still not 100% happy with the sound though. It's still got too much wind noise for my liking.
My wife and I finally made it up to Skye this year after COVID and returned a week ago. These roads are familiar and so are the camper vans 🙁. Many European motorcyclists were about too.
Yeah, there's always a lot of foreign plate bikes up that way. I get really happy when I see folk on bikes that've travelled all the way up to Scotland and the weather is actually nice for them. I was back up on Skye last weekend at a bike rally. The Twisted Pistons have a brilliant rally just over the Skye bridge in Kyleakin. The weather was brilliant all weekend and everybody had a great time. There were quite a few hungover bikers stumbling about the place on Saturday morning.🤣🤣
@@the.just.able.biker67 after the hot spell in Fort William we had very mixed weather in Skye. Fabulous scenery. Lovely boat trip from Elgol. Not a fan of the single track roads though 😂
@@jonathanmellish4439 Elgol is one of my favorite places on Skye. If anyone is ever asking where to go on Skye this is the first place that I tell them. Top tip: The first fortnight in June is usually really good weather up here.
@@the.just.able.biker67 I am enjoying the ones I’ve seen so far. Definitely echo your comments about the fuel. Broadford ran out when we were there. Also every b&b had no vacancies. Glad we booked in February.

How did you enjoy your trip? Hopefully you had a good time. 👍
I've still got another couple of videos to upload, but I just haven't had the time.
