My son has global development delay just like Luke at Luke's age he couldn't talk he just grounded and pointed if we didn't get it my son would get very frustrated my son started talking at the age 4yrs he is now 22 and is still getting speach and ot my son works at a disably place when at school he went to main school but in a special class and the kids had all sorts of disability
Being a person from Germany it's pretty cute and heartwarming to see you guys enjoying our food. What a lovely idea to introduce your kids and yourselves to the christmas traditions and foods of other countries.
Hey Jessica! Goa is the smallest state in India, and you did pronounce it correctly. Rickshaws are three wheeler vehicles that you use like taxis. they are super common in India. I live in Massachusetts but I'm from India!! So glad I could teach you something new! Lots of love to your wonderful family! Merry Christmas!
It's actually true that the advent calendar originated in Germany! That's why it only has 24 doors because we celebrate Christmas on the 24th. I don't know if it's the same in the US but we have 24th which is Heiligabend (holy eve)/ christmas. After that we have the first Christmas day (25th of December) and the second Christmas day (26th of December). Usually you use those days to visit extended family or your partner's family. I really love that it's three days of Christmas instead of just one since there's more chances to celebrate with all of the family. Of course we limit the number of family we visit because of covid. PS: the Niederegger mazipan I on of my favourite Christmas treats and a wink from Luke is the best compliment for our sweets I could have hoped for! :)
Growing up with a German mom in the US we do quite a few of those German traditions. We put some butter on the Stollen, and we have a lot of soft gingerbread treats. We also always get a live Christmas tree and burn real candles on it. And in Germany there are Christmas markets in each town that sell amazing treats and handmade goods. Germans know how to do Christmas the best in my opinion.
Seems like yesterday I was making crafts with Bailey and Jacob , Parker was in a high chair and now there are NINE Ballinger kids between your family and Colleen/Erik! May God bless all of you. I have loved watching your family grow through the years♥️ and those twins... tears of joy that they are all finally at home together. Merry Christmas Ballinger’s ♥️🌲🙏
My family stopped wrapping gifts a few years ago. My mom and grandma sewed a whole bunch of fabric bags with fancy ribbons that we “wrap” presents in now. We still wrap gifts for the two little cousins in traditional paper because we think it is more fun for them, but all the older family members like that using the bags cuts down on clean up and lets us get into playing sooner.
Since Jacob loves baking, he should make some homemade treats for your dog! There are really simple recipes out there with applesauce and pumpkin and they make a TON of treats!
I'm so glad you guys are trying out fabric wrapping!! My family has bene doing it for about 3 Christmases now and it makes the whole wrapping process much easier (especially for the family members who aren't so good at wrapping in general!) When my mum first introduced it to my brother and I we were definitely skeptical about the actual unwrapping but we've found ways to die the bows (or peg bags) so that there is still an unwrapping element and the gifts are always more exciting than the wrapping anyway! If it is a big deal to the kids you can always wrap them in tissue paper! A lot of the time we wrap the gift in tissue paper (without tape) then put it inside the fabric wrap, this way there's still a crinkly unwrapping experience but it is waste free as tissue paper can be reused every year! I've been thinking about suggesting this to your family for a while but so glad you discovered it anyway!
I'm German and I'm so happy with the comments you read, they were very accurate :) I'll eat my grandma's special potato salad and (vegan) wieners on Christmas eve this year as well, I felt very represented by what you said about our traditions 👌🏼 glad you liked the Stollen too
I love seeing Jessica following the doctor’s advice of the two boppies for feeding! How is her body holding up after all of the issues? I sure hope things are going okay!
Stollen (pronounced with a “sh”) is so freaking good!! So cool to see how you expose your kids to different foods, cultures, and traditions from around the world ❤️ y’all are awesome 🥰
I love the idea of reusing fabric/baby blankets to wrap presents, in helping save the environment. If your kids don't feel as excited opening the present there is another alternative I've come across, it's dissolvable wrapping paper. It has the same feel and texture as normal paper, but it dissolves underwater. Great for an easy clean up as well. But loving your idea of recycling your baby blankets in such a creative way.
Your family is just so much fun. From the dancing to advent; the enthusiasm is contagious. Luke is the star. He’s just the happiest most charming little person. Germany treats looked delicious. Meeting the twins will be epic! Merry Christmas Ballingers! 🥰💖🎄🎅🏼🎁😍
I saw someone on TikTok who made all sizes of fabric bags out of Christmas fabric and drawstrings at the top. She said she worried about the unwrapping not feeling the same but her kids didn't even seem phased by it. Then she reuses all the sacks each year.
I could cry I’ve watched you since Parker was little and then I stopped watching UA-cam. I love your fam! And watching the kids all grown up that’s crazy!!
You could try some food from Brazil!! It would be cool to see you guys try things from a south american country. Here, our Christmas is during summer, so that changes the vibe from northern countries entirely haha we celebrate christmas on the evening of the 24th and also on lunch time of the 25th. Our dinner is basically rice, turkey and farofa (some kind of toasted cassava flour mixture that brazilians are obsessed about) and what i think is the most different is that, for us, french toast (we call it rabanada here!) is a typical christmas dish that we eat as dessert or for breakfast. If anyone is looking for a middle ground for sustainable wrapping, I would recommend picking up craft paper wrapping paper. It isn’t recyclable while traditional paper isn’t.
I know you guys are super busy being the AMAZING parents of your SIX wonderful kiddos… but if you ever have the time to do a season two of the “Let’s talk about what we learned today podcast” !!??!? Please do hehe! I literally go back and listen to those episodes all the time! ❤️
I started making fabric bags a couple of years ago for Christmas wrapping. It is so much easier (once they are made!) Wrapping is so much easier and clean up is so easy too. My kids are between the ages of 3 and 10 and they don’t mind the difference at all. I haven’t heard about anyone else doing this so I feel a little self conscious about it but no one in my house cares one way or the other. I can’t wait to see yours!
One year when I was a kid I got a present wrapped in fabric and it was definetly the one I most looked forward to opening! It was new and exciting and made it feel special in a different way
What's interesting is a lot of German traditions came over to Britain due to the Hanover dynasty and of course Victorian era. Stollen and lebekuchen can be found in a lot of supermarkets. Also Lubeck is The marzipan centre of Europe and the world.
my girlfriend’s family is dutch and they celebrate st. nick! everyone in the family gets a different family member (kind of like secret santa) and you have to write a poem for the person that you get and create something to hold a new ornament for them. The box and the poem typically go together and are often funny or tell a memory that you have with that person or something important that is going on in their life that year!
In Australia, it is a tradition on Christmas to eat a dessert called a 'Pavlova'. It is pretty much a cake made from meringue, that is soft and pillowy on the inside and crispy on the outside, then filled with cream, and topped with fresh fruit. This dessert is also eaten in New Zealand, as it is said to originate there. Australia also contributes to the Christmas cracker tradition.
Your family is awesome. Bailey's smile is magical! That will be a big surprise for them, meeting their twin cousin's, big huge hugs, and Merry Christmas.
Wasn't able to watch yesterday's video until just before this one, so now I know how the kids feel when they open two days in a row on their advents! Haha
I love the sustainable wrapping idea! I sew a lot and have a lot of random yards of cotton so I usually use that and ask for it back after to continue using LOL. That might seem odd and I’ve gotten some weird looks but I don’t care haha. I also gift secondhand items which people also seem to not get but I think these things should be normalized so I continue to do them even though I get judged
I live here in America, and my grandfathers side of the family can be traced back to England, and we celebrate St. Nicks Day. My brother and I put our winter boots by our bedroom doors. It's a lot of fun, and my family is just kind of crazy so we get chocolate, socks, and other useful things we could use during the month. (Im in college, and this year St. Nick gave me an energy drink, a can of pringles and a package of ramen. It was during finals week)
YAY ! i am using MATERIALS TOO !! tying them up in silk scarfs & materials i found at the thrift store..great thing is each kid can i their own special wrapping materials
it's so fun to see a family from the US trying german sweets that are just soo normal to me to the point that I didn't even realize it's a german thing (same for the Adventskranz, was not aware other countries don't do that). so cool to see cultures be represented :D
Here in the Netherlands we eat stollen too! With Christmas and Easter, they’re just slightly different. How we eat it: slice the stollen in just bread slices and then get the marzipan out with the knife and then spread it out all over the slice. If it’s slightly too dry for your opinion you can always spread a bit of butter on it! It’s so delicious I’m happy for y’all you got a taste of it! Merry Christmas! (“Fijne kerst” in Dutch)❤️
I am from Nebraska, but my grandmother (my Oma) is from Germany and my dad is also German. My Oma always makes Stollen and we have a very traditional German meal for Christmas! Another thing my Oma and I do for Christmas is make Vanillekipferl! It’s a vanilla almond crescent cookie and they are one of my favorite cookies. Jacob would have an awesome time making them for his holiday cookie project!!
Being from Germany I find it really cool that you try our stuff ❤️ Btw- not important but Plätzchen are pronounced sorta like this: Pl - like the pl from the word place ä - like just the a from apple Tz - like the ts from etsy Ch - difficult since English doesn't have that combo sound but sorta like the x from the word fox en - like Ben without the b + we normally incorporate rum into stollen so Jessica was correct 👍 you soak all the fruit elements in rum for some time before incorporating it into the dough.
I live in the US, but I’m part german so I’ve had marzipan (mats-ee-paan) and stolen. I’ve also done the candle thing and sing the song. I used to go to a German school when I was in elementary school, and we did the shoe thing!!!
I didn't think anything could be as cute as Duncan winking but Luke is giving him a run for his money!!! I love this winking phase!!! Someone needs to teach Flynn!
I am getting SO much enjoyment out of watching your kids try the new foods from other countries this vlogmas. Your kids are just SO expressive when they eat the foods that I’m literally laughing out loud over here. It is AMAZING! It’s like a kid in a commercial selling something. Anytime I try new food I have almost no reaction besides I like it or don’t like it. Now I feel so boring hahaha!
My extended family does advent (the candles on the 4 Sundays before Christmas) because I have some uncles from Germany. I think it's a super fun tradition:)

I'm loving the magic tricks! I'm amazed by them and curious about how they work!
I got several days behind in watching but now I'm all caught up and I want to say my favorite moment of vlogmas was this episode and seeing Jessica and Chris so in love at the end. That's why my favorite episode of your podcast was when you talked about falling in love. I've been married for 12 years and you two are my relationship role models!
We have the advent wreaths in England too, I go to a Catholic school and we light them during Our assemblies on Mondays since we aren't in school on Sundays
bailey has grown so much confidence in the past few months, i’m so excited to see her start high school soon! also hear me out but i’m dying to see her try out a middle part!
ahhh I love our German tradition..also you guys pronounced the German christmasfood and candy really good! I wish all of you a merry Christmas! Much love from Germany to you guys!!
Aww my favourite stollen! I was adopted into a Dutch family, we also have stollen for Christmas, we also would toast them ,not in a regular toaster but in a toaster oven so the marzipan doesn’t leak in my toaster. So yummy warmed and butter is always nice too!
When my family makes stollen we soak the fruits in rum before we make the dough so that’s probably the alcohol taste! We’re German-American my Oma and Opa came to America when they were 16ish.
Hello I’m from Australia and we have a summer Christmas which was a really nice, we go to the beach and swim. Common foods are barbecue meat and cold salad we all relax and enjoy the sun outside
Im going to keep posting this till they see it on Duncuns advent after you open a box he is supposed to flip it over when he puts it back to make a game board!
My favourite german treat is Pfeffernüsse which are similar to Peppernuts made in Denmark and the Netherlands :) It made me so happy last year, a friend lives near a bakery that specializes in german goodies, it was so special to me since I used to buy them every year with my mom when I lived in the US, but since moving to Canada I had a hard time finding anywhere that had them. Ironically since receiving them last year I KEEP seeing them everywhere this year. lol
Merry Christmas, Ballinger Family 🎄!!! Sending you so much Love and Prayers for many Blessings for a Beautiful Holiday and New Year! There is going to be so much joy this year, with the "First Christmas" of the newest Ballingers! I can't wait to see ♡
I bet the kids are so excited to meet and hold their new baby twin cousins now that they’re home from the NICU!!! Sending lots of love❤️
Okay

There new video that they just posted is them actually meeting the twins 🙂!
Duncan is literally Christopher with a higher exposure setting and i love it
Lmaoooo this is so funny and so true😭
Haaha
Thanks for the laugh.
I know he's hilarious.
Hahha, perfect description!
Luke is such a Ballinger, every time Christmas is mentioned or talked about he's so vocal!
Duncan calling Luke to “help” was the sweetest thing! He’s so precious 🥺
My favorite part of advent is Luke's face and then running to get his rug laid out to play on...so cute!!
I don’t know about you all but Bailey seeing (and maybe holding) Maisy is gonna make me sob.
I hope she gets to hold them both :D
yes she’s not the only girl anymore❤️
imagining bailey singing to maisy makes me wanna cry
Ikr ❤️😭
That's first thing I thought when maisy came home ❤️
Does Luke ever get frustrated that he can't say alot of words? He is beyond adorable i love watching him grow and be independant

Parkers turns are so natural. He would be great at ballet.
I was thinking the same thing

I can't explain why, but my favorite part of every video is Luke running to get his rug out after opening his advent calendar.
Luke is such a character! What a personality! He is doing so great and progressing in everything. Such a cutie.

I think Luke somehow gets cuter each video!!! I will never get over the wink 🥰 too cute
Aww it was so sweet to see a little bit of affection between Chris and Jessica toward the end of the video when she kissed his face
Luke nurturing Teddy 🧸 cubed was 🥺 so precious 🥰
Duncan should turn his advent calendar around the ones that he has opened because I think it would make a picture
The collective hushed "Ooooh" when you cut into the second stollen... a Mood. 😂

No different then when they invented the bags, tape close and done. Fabulous idea. I have used baby blankets to wrap baby shower gifts. 💜
I love the idea of reusing fabric/baby blankets to wrap presents, in helping save the environment. in dutch we call it a Stol. we cut it like a slice of bread and smear the marzipan filling over the stol. or just with butter! so jummy 😋
Luke winking is the cutest especially cause he’s caring on Duncan’s tradition.
i think duncan needs to flip the boxes that he already finished, it seems like there's a drawing behind it of space!
Here in the Netherlands we eat stollen too! With Christmas and Easter, they’re just slightly different. Btw- not important but Plätzchen are pronounced sorta like this:
Pl - like the pl from the word place
ä - like just the a from apple
Tz - like the ts from etsy
Ch - difficult since English doesn't have that combo sound but sorta like the x from the word fox
en - like Ben without the b
+ we normally incorporate rum into stollen so Jessica was correct 👍 you soak all the fruit elements in rum for some time before incorporating it into the dough.

OMGGGG!!! How adorable from Auntie Panties show!!!! ☀️ Vivaaaa Mirandaaaa!!!! 💜🎶❤️🎶
When my family makes stollen we soak the fruits in rum before we make the dough so that’s probably the alcohol taste! We’re German-American my Oma and Opa came to America when they were 16ish.
Looking forward to tomorrow's video!! Also loving how Luke's speech is improving every day!!!
Hello I’m from Australia and we have a summer Christmas which was a really nice, we go to the beach and swim. Common foods are barbecue meat and cold salad we all relax and enjoy the sun outside
love that you guys are considering more eco-friendly wrapping!
If you have an ALDI supermarket near you, you could possibly find some of the German Christmas cookies and treats.
Omg Luke winking at Jessica 😂😭🥺
Im going to keep posting this till they see it on Duncuns advent after you open a box he is supposed to flip it over when he puts it back to make a game board!
My favourite german treat is Pfeffernüsse which are similar to Peppernuts made in Denmark and the Netherlands :)
It made me so happy last year, a friend lives near a bakery that specializes in german goodies, it was so special to me since I used to buy them every year with my mom when I lived in the US, but since moving to Canada I had a hard time finding anywhere that had them.
Ironically since receiving them last year I KEEP seeing them everywhere this year. lol
I live for the conclusions of the blogs
Same! I know they add quite a bit of extra work, but I'm glad that they bring it back here and there for special occasions!
Merry Christmas, Ballinger Family 🎄!!! Sending you so much Love and Prayers for many Blessings for a Beautiful Holiday and New Year! There is going to be so much joy this year, with the "First Christmas" of the newest Ballingers! I can't wait to see ♡
