I'm older now, but as young man in the 80's I didnt know the industry worked. I read both Jims books. He was a youngish man terrified the new young public wouldn't embrace him, but they did hard core. 'Working Class Man' album was huge all over the world.
I’ve came to Australia from Brazil last century in 1999 to be precisely, and had been the most awesomest ride ever , from my early days at Bondi Beach with my dearest brother Ben Collins at the former Bondi Rock Shop, with dragon’s guitarist Rob Taylor teaching me Chick Berry licks and the late Ian Miller saying to me “ that’s a great guitar son “ while playing my late late 70’s Gibson les custom I bought from AC/DC’s original bass player Mark Evans ( God bless Mark he’s the sweetest guy ever ) at Annandale’s Guitar Jungle , and from days with Ben doing P.A. For Jimmy’s brother Swanee gee he can belt sone Rock’n’Roll tunes I have to say this one Hell of a Song every time I hear it on the radio of my car I have goosebumps, I saw Jimmy opening for Aerosmith and EVH wearing full leather pants in a hot summer and sweeting his soul out and OMG one my greatest memories I do remember still first time I could actually hear the lyrics of working class man in English throughout the stereo of this truck I used to drive doing furniture delivery I had tears in my eyes I knew that there was no way back I full true blue Aussie forever , man what a song what a singer what a legacy Jimmy Barnes ROCKS 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🇦🇺!!
Nay, humanity, for ye hath sinned, replacing the Revered Ones with false gods such as Bieber, Minaj, and Malone. Thus shall filth assail thine ears forever more, for mine was the Kingdom in the 80s and ye did spurn it!
Most underrated love song I have ever had the fortune to hear. I am actually going through something similar to this right now in my life and so it has hit a powerful nerve. Thank you to Jimmy and the whole band for an outstanding performance
I grew up with music of the 70's and 80's. Although I have never met them, Jimmy, doc Neeson etc, seem like ol mates to me. Thanks guys for your gift of music.
What a prime jimmy Barnes song. I developed a love for him as a kid from my dad who’s now sadly passed away, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for him blasting cold chisel in his ss commodore as a kid, great memories
Ozzy legend no one can beat his voice i play his music every day amd never get bored listening to them true music Australian. Legend every word makes sense best 80s music 🎵 legend of all times
This man is SOLID FUCKEN GOLD! Much luv & respect to you Jimmy Barnes! Kia ora from across the ditch Bro, from Massey, West Auckland, NZ. xXx We luv you Bro!
Man its amazing aye this guy never smashed it in America. People love AC/DC and Keith Urban and he's right in that wheel house. Voice sounds like its being pumped through a 100 Watt Marshall.
The 2nd verse vocal (from 01:41) is superb. Chisel were great at building tension through a song, Jim's band is no different. Some heavy hitters in this band, Jimmy's first solo outing was always going to be special.
Ah yeah, let me tell you all about it I've been thinkin about you night and day Sure been restless since you went away You took something from me against my will Touched a nerve in me that's tingling still You just snuck up behind me When my resistance was low And nows a hell of a time to find I can't let you go Got your first letter just the other day Since I got it I can't put it away I just sit and read it over and over and over again As if the words that you wrote could bring this hurt to and end Well you just left me here waiting Left a wound that won't heal God your so far away you don't know how I feel So say you'll take a chance on this heart of mine Don't make me the one that you left behind And I'm not saying anybody's wrong or right Just know I'd die to be with you tonight I count the hours each time till your gone I don't have to let you leave me It makes no sense at all If I have to follow you all around the world I'd be willing to do anything to get to you girl You just left me here waitin Left a wound that won't heal God your so far away you don't know how I feel So say you'll take a chance on this heart of mine Don't make me the one that you left behind And I'm not saying anybody's wrong or right Just know I'd die to be with you tonight Ah yeah So say you'll take a chance on this heart of mine Don't make me the one that you left behind I'm not saying anybody's wrong or right Just know I'd die to be with you tonight Oh I'd die to be with you tonight Ah ha ha ha I'd die to be with you tonight I count the hours each time that your gone... GREAT!!!
Jimmy you we're a legend with cold Chisel and you are a legend with your solo career God bless you and Jane and the family you are so respected buy the Australian music family cheers Craig 🤙
Just heard this in a online kiwi flashback radio. For me he sounds like Rod Stewart (Faces era), AC/DC(80s), Bryan Adams and John Mellencamp at the same time. :)
1:26 -- Great rock song, and the chorus was catchy, but what SOLD me was this moment: 1:37 -- Man, when he opted to go for the high "you" with such power -- that was the kicker! You got me. And then to continually peg it with such clarity and power! Excellent. Puts the song in an upper league.
80s what an era never be another one... I remember cruising around in my old ladys TE Cortina at 15yrs of age just another classic song and Album from the great man himself
I love this album and still have the cassette I bought in 1985. Haven't much liked what he's done since however. His singing is pretty much a one trick pony.
Jimmy's a Australian living legend,🇦🇨
They don't make songs like this anymore. What a song.
They do, just not as popular unfortunately

Been a fan since 1989 since I was first introduced by Aussies in London. Still a fan and love his music!!!!!

Ditch the video games and head over to Roto.

The true golden years of Oz rock, back when you could go to the pub & see an awesome band, we were the lucky ones who got to experience that!
Brings back awesome memories 💥
The older I get, the more I love Cold Chisel. One of my most played songs on my playlist, full blast in my car 😁
@Jimmy Barnes Hi!! You just made my day! I’m tongue tied 🤪😂 Absolutely love your beats and belting out your lyrics, even at the red lights 😂😂❤️
Its not cold chisel
It's glorious, not Chisel but same thing. Jimmy's leading.
What a prime jimmy Barnes song. I developed a love for him as a kid from my dad who’s now sadly passed away, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for him blasting cold chisel in his ss commodore as a kid, great memories

Filmed on the Darling Harbour Bridge, Sydney, NSW before all the renovations, in 1985.
Where did all these great songs go? Today's music is buttkas.
Still listening to this song, 40 years later. Fuck I am old lol
Is it just me, or is this the greatest love song ever!? Or maybe it is just me coz it works with a special someone to me haha
My names james not by choice of cause but my father was a jimmy barnes fan and im pre sure to this day he named me jimmy after this man. Respect 🍻
Well, based on that premise it's a good thing for you that your Dad wasn't a Kiss fan or your UA-cam user name would be 'Chaim' R.
Love this version makes me smile

Ah yeah, let me tell you all about it
I've been thinkin about you night and day
Sure been restless since you went away
You took something from me against my will
Touched a nerve in me that's tingling still
You just snuck up behind me
When my resistance was low
And nows a hell of a time to find I can't let you go
Got your first letter just the other day
Since I got it I can't put it away
I just sit and read it over and over and over again
As if the words that you wrote could bring this hurt to and end
Well you just left me here waiting
Left a wound that won't heal
God your so far away you don't know how I feel
So say you'll take a chance on this heart of mine
Don't make me the one that you left behind
And I'm not saying anybody's wrong or right
Just know I'd die to be with you tonight
I count the hours each time till your gone
I don't have to let you leave me
It makes no sense at all
If I have to follow you all around the world
I'd be willing to do anything to get to you girl
You just left me here waitin
Left a wound that won't heal
God your so far away you don't know how I feel
So say you'll take a chance on this heart of mine
Don't make me the one that you left behind
And I'm not saying anybody's wrong or right
Just know I'd die to be with you tonight
Ah yeah
So say you'll take a chance on this heart of mine
Don't make me the one that you left behind
I'm not saying anybody's wrong or right
Just know I'd die to be with you tonight
Oh
I'd die to be with you tonight
Ah ha ha ha
I'd die to be with you tonight
I count the hours each time that your gone...
GREAT!!!
