Ironically enough, the final episode of the first season was the VERY FIRST episode of Sailor Moon I ever saw. I was raised extremely sheltered Pentecostal, in rural Mississippi. I knew nothing of the outside world. But one summer, when I was just a little kid, (way back in the early '90s,) I went to visit family in Gary, Indiana. And I stayed with my cousins for a few days, (who were about my age and NOT at all a part of the church my mother raised me in.) We weren't even watching Sailor Moon in an active sense. It just HAPPENED to be on the TV while my cousins and I were playing. And THIS episode, the season finale of the Dark Kingdom Arc, just so happened to be my very first introduction to what Sailor Moon was. And I, as little 7/8 year old boy who later in life realized I was Gay, INSTANTLY fell in LOVE with this show. And then I discovered Toonami, years later, and got to watch the whole series (granted, in it's heavily censored DiC years.) And now, at 35, seeing the new BRILLIANTLY re-dubbed '90s anime, as well as the reboot that is closer to the manga, we've now come full circle. I WISH I could go back in time and comfort my repressed childhood self and tell him it's totally ok that he likes Sailor Moon, and that she's a great role model.
1:10 I remember as a kid when the scene moved to show Princess Serenity surrounded by the other Sailor Scouts holding the wand with her I got MAJOR goosebumps! I was so hyped up watching it in the living room I started jumping up and down on the sofa and got told to calm down by my mum! 🤣
When the music break happens, and all the dead scouts' spirits put their hands on Serena's and encourage her with their FRIENDSHIP! BABY ME WAS SHOOKETH! SHE WAS EMPOWERED! SHE COULD DO ANYTHING!
@@thecardboardboxl3922 They're not on itunes, nobody has the rights to distribute these. It's part of the reason why the old dic dub isn't available commercially anymore.
Man this song brings back so many memories and I seriously doubt I was the only one rooting and cheering for Serena to beat Beryl once and for all after all that heartache🔥 Definitely a blood pumper, but still pretty bitter sweet sense with the start of the second season everyone is basically starting over from scratch and doesn’t remember each other.
00:00:33 Jeniffer Cihi captures all of Serena's sweetness and bravery in one song. 00:00:21 You can even hear some genuine concern, self-doubt and a hint of "scared crybaby" in that voice, which just further strengthens her motivation for continuing. Honestly, this is what makes Serena special. She IS a normal, scared, easily distracted teenage girl, but that doesn't stop her moral compass from pushing her into action when she needs to. She SEEMS like she needs to be nagged to do it, but when she spots danger herself, or when things get SERIOUSLY bad, she doesn't hesitate to step up. 00:01:53 OK, now this burst of emotion at the end is just adorable. I can totally picture Meatball Head singing this.
I remember a few decades back when the DiC dub was on TV and there were parents bitching about how Sailor Moon served as a poor role model for young girls because she was a whiner and a crybaby, etc. Thing is, the realism of the characters was what made them so GOOD. I also recall agreeing with one rebuttal that pointed out that Spider-Man is a beloved classic hero, and a large part of his schtick as a character is how much he just wants to live a normal life.
@@melichardcurlq6535 Agreed, although I still think they went way too far with Serena's childishness. She seems like a hybrid of Squidward and Spongebob, in that she gets constantly beaten around by the world despite not deserving too, and how childishly she reacts to everything. They should have dialed back her childishness and counterbalanced it with more mature moments. It would drive the point home that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, and that maturity is more than a superficial attitude.
As ridiculous as the dic dub was, this scene captures Serena's character growth perfectly. It would have been even more powerful if her friends really died like in the original version. "I sense my friends are near" would mean "they will be always be near me, even in death". This song fits in meaning even for the original version. How amazing is that?
I loved this song, and the entire episode. Every final battle needs its own final boss theme. The original contained an extended version of the title theme, "Moonlight Densetsu."

@@Alysa-Aiday If Viz was so great, they wouldn't feel the need to bash DIC still and just enjoy their version. But here they are, complaining about DiC nearly 30 years later.

All the senshi's messages of support to Sailor Moon are tied to their individual characters, instead of all of them saying "you have to win so we can date boys" (only Jupiter says that in the DiC dub, which is perfect). And this song is way more suited to the scene than just playing "Moonlight Densetsu". I love "Moonlight Densetsu", but the miracle romance has nothing to do with the showdown against Beryl/Metallia! "Carry On" is not only extremely specific about this scene, it also rips.

When I was growing up, I dealt with horrendous abuse from a sibling (physical, verbal and emotional.) I understand why it happened and all is forgiven now; however, far from forgotten. I discovered Sailor Moon when I was twelve and it was so unimaginably empowering to me. Here were normal girls who stood up against villains and opponents infinitely larger than them with courage and determination. They all inspired me to be strong and stand up for myself against a sibling who, in my mind, was larger than life and unstoppable. This song and scene in particular lit quite the fire inside me. Purists rag on this episode for changing things but think about it if they didn't. Easy to say they ruined things in front of a computer monitor as an adult years after the fact. Good luck going to producers and tv executives in 1995 and selling them "Hey. You know this action comedy show starring cute girls? Yeah, they brutally die off at the end of the season because the writers were on crack. We should air it anyway because that would ruin the purity". You'd be laughed out of the studio. DIC was like "We're not touching this." And put the fire out before it started. And Sailor Moon became a hit.
Whaaaa? The fact that they die adds so much tension to the final battle, and they end up coming back after the fact thanks to Usagi's wish. I felt really strong emotions while watching the finale knowing that everything was riding on Usagi's success. In the short term it was probably necessary to change it for American audiences in the 90s, but long term I just think the finale's pacing suffers because it's jamming 45 minutes of material into 22. I do love this song though. Also, Sailor Moon was already a hit internationally before DiC ever acquired the rights. It was one of the first wave of anime to become really popular here in the States, and DiC does deserve some props for creating distinct memories for older fans with their music and amateur but charming cast. But I think it would've most likely resonated with people with or without the censorship because it's just a likable show.

@@jadedheartsz - And in actuality this dub was made in Canada for Canadian tv first which is way more stricter than the US especially back in the 90’s and 2000’s. Case in point look up the changes the first Cardcaptor Sakura dub got. They were forced by tv executives to start with episode seven and turn the show into a girl/boy duo team because they thought that boys won’t watch a show with a solo girl lead, completely ignoring the fact that CCS is a series aimed at girls. I’m surprised that Canada was able to get the first season of Precure on tv given how f-ing sexist tv executives there are.

Dying in Sailor Moon nowadays: Time to Die.
Dying in Dragon Ball Z nowadays: Time to Die.
Man things were more creative back then, censored yes but still creative.
Fight This Evil........🌙🎵🎶
Nice 💯 good night 🌃🌃
🤘🏿😭 The Power of friendship is so strong 💪🏿 in this song 🎵😭🫱🏼🫲🏾😎 Thanks 🙏🏿 you, Naoko Takeuchi 🫡
Im a guy who watched original sailor moon 1990s version even I pulled for sailor moon vs queen beryl when heard this song. GO GET THAT WITCH SERENA!!!!!!
Did they bring in Eddie Van Halen for this?
Was this the song that was played when she defeated Queen Beryl?
Yes it was. Made the fight totally epic
And if I remember right it was sung by Sailor Moons voice actress.
@@DarkMoonGeneral No it wasn't. They brought in another singer who had no idea about the show or the fandom until the mid-2000s.
I only just heard this song the other day and I’m obsessed.
My guilty pleasure anime of the late 90s!
I always waited for the episode with this song, because I knew Queen Beryl was going down.
That was one of the greatest moments in Saturday morning cartoon history. Anime and rock, together on North American TV.
That was an epic ending episode of season one.
Man, I want to make a cover on this!
Let us know when you do!
You should…. The solo is awesome on this
Do it we are waiting!
Go ahead. I'm sure it will generate some interest, even in those who aren't fans of the show.
I already made it guys lol ua-cam.com/video/JDUBDSwunBg/v-deo.html
Amo esta canción. Imagínense volver a los '90, comer cereal y ver Sailor Moon. PERFECTO!!! 😁
I love this so much
I still have the cassette tape with the huge lyric book that came with it.
Why do alot of these tracks have a
MEGAMAN X sound to them??!!!
If it wasnt for this barista at my local Starbucks that caught my attention and apparently is a sailor moon fan (car decal of serena and while checking her out, saw her phone in BACK pocket....sailor moon case!)
I decided to check out the main theme song
Guitar solo definitely reminds me of.......
MEGAMAN X SNES:
Opening/highway stage
And MEGAMAN X4 on PS1:
SKY LAGOON ZERO THEME
(33 seconds into this track)
Yeah, I've definitely draw parallels between the DIC Sailor Moon songs and MMX songs
Man they went HAMMER on that Guitar!!!!
This was my fave sing way back in the day
Legit banger of a theme!
pissed this isnt on spotify
It’s there now
@@thephantommaskgirl2209

Banger track.
“May my strength be a shield for this world, and for all of humanity, I’m putting all our hope into this one attack.”
“Don’t underestimate mortals, and especially not a Saiyan; TAKE THIS!!!”
*”GALICK GUN!!!!”*
This song deserves to go as hard as it did.
I never watched the dub but this song is great
if you watch the dub ever do the og DIC dub not the new viz.
my future is waiting for me and destiny legacy all stars party group
I want JoDi Benson and Howard Ashman to do a cover of this song
@@Doomshroom8 to be fair daytime TV censors in the US are WAY stricter than those in Japan(Spider-Man wasn't even allowed to throw a frigging punch in the 90s animated series FFS)and there's no way in hell the FCC would've let the violence and sexuality in the original show slide.
I have this CD somewhere...
1:10 to 1:23 F*CKING epic!!!!!

This song is still dope even though it can be cheesy
Final battle! FIGHT!
That guitar almost went too hard 😮💨
No such thing, pal.
Serena was a crybaby too badass LOL
Exactly
Stella (Winx Club) was more of a loud mouth in the episode “Junior League”
Flora calls Stella “Little Miss Loud Mouth” which she accidentally bites Flora’s hand after keeping it shut (Cinelune uncut version only)
Flora: [screaming in pain] OW! Stella! Don’t bite my hand so hard!
Where can I find the soundtrack at is it easy to download
I just saw that Barnes and Noble seeks the CD for $15.19 (strange price, I know). But the one review says it’s Japanese formatted media, whatever that means.
@@thuha8988
Exactly
Barnes & Noble also sells DVD releases of Winx Club (FUNimation Productions)
The only one I have is Vol. 2: The Power of Dragon Fire which I purchased from Amazon not too long ago
Can someone please put this show on UA-cam, talking about the 90’s dub not that other one please I miss this show
Why does it remind me Kill"em All album?
Who sings this song?
Jennifer Cihi
Serena: Cosmic Moon Power!
Goku (Kirby Morrow): Ka-Me-Ha-Me…
Serena: Fight this evil!
Goku (Kirby Morrow): HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This almost sounds like Sultan of Swing from Dire Straights

They both have similar aspects. Maybe it's the tempo and instruments used.
Well, though, the early 90's was kind of still in 80's era for awhile iirc. I'm a Gen Z so I don't know.
kamehameha
Buddhist Goddess of Mercy of Central Asia that the Sarah moon of Japan be !!
Don't get me wrong .. there's so much wrong with this horribly dubbed 90's version of Sailor Moon. And after watching the series the way it always should have been. I totally feel cheated 🤣 The story the way its supposed to be told is a billion times better hands down.
BUUT I do love some of these old songs from the horrificly dubbed 90's version. Like i thought the locket tune was pretty. This song is good. And my only love is good too.
It's not horribly done, it nailed exactly what it was going for. But I definitely don't think it serves as a replacement for the Japanese version
I disagree, I'm rewatching the original dic dub that aired on cartoon network. And I love it, I had completely forgotten about this until I saw a sailor moon toy and then searched up the show, it isn't horrible whatsoever, I love it. The heroic undertones, the great dic background music...love it.
Trump victory 2024!!
Moonlight Densetsu fit better.
You clearly never saw this song with the scene then.
Having sailor moon be the first anime I ever watched, and as someone who has seen both versions of the 90s show several times, it wasn't difficult to judge that this song DID in fact fit better, and was so much more powerful than moonlight densetsu.
I'm sure most people who saw the DiC version will agree ✨🙏
So this song was played in the English dub during Sailor Moons battle with Queen Beryl. Knowing the song you are talking about yes Is a good song but didn't fit as well.
To this day i still kick myself for not buying the soundtrack when I saw it in the tv music section at Walmart as a kid
I bought the Full Moon Collection from Borders in 2003. one of the first CDs I ever owned.
