Hi Sue I haven't tried a mascara from clarins for a very long time tbh. I do tend to use slightly higher end mascara, but I buy the travel sizes normally. A travel size mascara lasts me 8 to 10 weeks usually and you're supposed to discard a full size mascara every 12 weeks anyway. A full size L'Oreal or Maybelline mascara is anywhere between £8 to £13 here in the UK and a travel size Benefit or Lancome (for example) is between £11 to £14 - not much of a difference really. The issue I have with many mascaras is running/smudging. I have "dry eyes" due to rosacea, which means they water a lot (as the tear gland doesn't work as well as it should, overproducing tears to lubricate the dry eye). I don't want to wear waterproof mascara everyday, as they're a nightmare to remove and my eyes are extremely sensitive (due to the rosacea). Benefit and Lancome are both good at making long wear mascaras that aren't actually waterproof, so they're fairly easy to remove but still last well on the lashes. It's worth paying a little extra for me to have less irritation, plus less smudging/running. I will try a travel size of this one since you think it's so fab and I'm always on the lookout for a new fab mascara. I often wear tubing mascaras due to the issues mentioned above, but not always and do like "normal" mascaras too. Best wishes.
Hi Loraine. I have never tried tubing mascara. I'm keen to try it. You are wise to buy mascara minis as they last just the right amount of time. We don't get many here but I've used up a Benefit, Estee Lauder, Mac and Clarins mini. I believe bobbi brown sells one too. It's definitely the way to go. Now that I've had a taste of the Clarins mascara, I'm very keen to try lancome too. Sensai has a tubing one I think. Watch this space 🤗

If you had a choice between the Estée Lauder Scrumptious mascara and the Clarins 4D wonder mascara, which one would you purchase?
Morning 🤗. Thanks for noticing the strategically placed red!! Having used both the EL and the 4D, I would choose the 4D. The EL gives more volume but it tends to transfer to below my eyes through out the day, even though I never apply it to my lower lashline. I don't have that issue with the 4D. 4D also seems to give me a more appropriate yet defined daytime lash, if that makes sense?

I Have tried all the other Clarins mascara and have been underwhelmed (especially the Supra Volume = major panda eyes for me). The 4D,however, is fantastic and my go-to mascara. I wait until they have site-wide sales or fantastic offers to buy it , though even at its usual price I think that it is well worth the money.
It sounds like we've had the same experience. This is the first Clarins one that I love !
