I grew up riding dirt bikes on these very tracks in St Gwynno's forestry as a local. The only thing that can make you appreciate this video more is going there for yourself and seeing how tight and technical but unbelievably fast these tracks are. Most of it remains unchanged to this day. Watching this video now, it's hard to believe that such driving is possible on these tracks, but only McCrae knew how to do it with no compromise.

And of course there's the calm and steady pace notes of Nicky Grist.
As a virtual rally driver I'm always impressed by F1. Sure I can get through a stage with a decent time, but being able to do that consistently with a crowded track? That's another beast altogether. :)
@@nightowlrally Sure I can get through an F1 lap with a decent time, too. But F1 is about consistency lap after lap - okay, sure. But so is the WRC - it's a speed competition! It's completely useless to be fast in one stage alone if we are going to underperform and post mere "decent" times for the rest of the rally. At which case, we are lacking skills. Consistency is a byproduct of proper skills. If we lack skills, then our good laps are mostly a byproduct of luck. Exactly the same goes for rally stages - specially real rallying, with just one try available and no restart button nor flashbacks; with more difficult physics than those of Dirt Rally and WRC games; around massively hostile roads, etc.
