Sent it to Bark River after to speaking to Mike ( owner) and Anna.. Took about a week. knife came back looking brand new except for the bigger choil. IMHO the knife should come this way!. Was 100% free except for 15 return shipping. 100% worth it. Call and ask for Anna or Mike ( owner). If interested.Tell them you want it modded like they did for Gunny. I will PM you my skype if u want to see it
For sure. I'll be at a sweat lodge all day tomorrow, but Sunday or Monday I should be available. I'm also part of the Bark River Facebook group, so if you are too I can always see the pick there or via PM.
Got mine modified ( free) totally worth it. BKR made my choil bigger .look up "white river backpacker" more like this now Also modified the back and to be less flair and more round. MUCH better I neck carry mine with DLT kydex shealth **Hey, those straps on your sheath....do they make the knife harder to get out? Some custom sheath makers use a strap like that for a extra retention. So it never falls out when neck carry OR is is just for a loop?
I've had my Mini Aurora now for 5 months and totally love the knife. From the time it came out of the box it was my edc, no issures. Did you craft the leather belt loops for your kydex sheaths or did you purchase them. If you bought them can you tell me where. Great video
I made them myself. I went to a local thrift store and found an old black leather belt. Cut to proper shape and size. use Chicago button screws for snaps. Best of luck!
Could you direct me to a good, comprehensive video on how to construct this style of sheath & attachment, as you did, as a lightweight, practical piece? THANKS for an assist!
Currently I would select the Mini-Aurora over the ULB, but only slightly. The edge geometry of the Mini-Aurora gives a better bite into the wood, and the sharper point does great for drilling pilot holes for a bow/hand drill. Either way you will not go wrong in my opinion and the ULB is an amazing ultralight backpacking option (what I most use it for). I hope this helps and I thank you for your viewership. All the best!
Do you find the edge geometry of the Mini Aurora would be better for every day use? Looking for something just for hiking and every day around the house, but could work in a pinch with a fire stick if I ever got lost and SHTF. I know the Skandi is generally preferred for bushcrafting, but the high grind convex seems like it would be a much better slicer for food prep.
I know this is way late, but if you are looking for an amazing everyday use knife, your best bet would be the mini-Kephart. I got one recently and it is the best all around knife I own.
@@ShaneCuttingthis is great to see. I found this video while looking between the mini Aurora and mini Kephart.. your preference goes to the MK for general EDC/light wood prep/food prep
Thank you. My very first BRKT was the Aurora, and it is still a favorite of mine. When I saw this knife I knew I had to have one. This is by far one of the best S/M knives one could own from a semi-custom maker IMHO. Blade geometry and ergonomics are on point, and fit and finish are superb. I know this will be my go-to knife for most occasions (at least for the foreseeable future). All the best!

The mods to the handle made it so so so much better
Which mods?
My handle where the trigger finger goes has a deep choil now.About 1/2 as much as the backpacker
Did you do it or have someone at BRKT, or a distributor do it?

How does the Mini Aurora handle thickness compare to the Ultra Lite Bushcrafter handle thickness?
Is one thinner or less hand filling than the other?
Great job . Do you have a back river bird and trout to review?
Yes I do. I should be starting up again in a couple weeks, and I'' move it toward the front of the rotation
I want to see that one too!
Nice review. Get a second camera to help with close ups. I subscribed

what is your preference between mini A and ULB?

Retention is good now but give it a few months and the knife will slip out super easily
Great video. Sub for sure!!
Just got mine 3 days ago. Love it!!! I switch between survive knives 3.5 and mini aurora.
