Kenya's Most Beautiful Hike! ⛰ Mount Longonot Crater! | Naivasha Pt1.

- We always heard that Mount Lonogot was beautiful, but we couldn't believe our eyes when we reached the top and got to looked into the crater!
Late December 2020, we spent 3 nights in the Great Rift Valley, one of Kenya's most beautiful regions! We were based in Naivasha, which is a great place to stay since it is close to so many amazing things to do! And the great rift valley first activity that we are showcasing is hiking the insanely beautiful Mount Longonot.
Kenya is very well know for being a travel destination showcasing some of Africa's most beautiful landscapes. So it's easy to believe that there are some beautiful hikes too. But its hard to imagine any more beautiful than Mount Longonot.
This hike is made up of two parts, summiting the crater and going around the ridge. Getting to the summit isn't all that difficult, and we would say that most people can do it. But going around the ridge is deceptively difficult! 😅 Getting to the summit of Mount Longonot takes about one hour, and getting around the ridge takes an additional 2 to 3 hours.
We would say that if you are not the fittest person around, simply summiting Mount Lonogonot is both achievable and recommended! But only attempt getting around the ridge if you are fit and are well stocked with water and food! It might be difficult getting around the ridge, but it is definitely worth it.
The ridge is consists of peaks and troughs, touring you through what feels like an incredible range of different landscapes. From Forest, to slippery sandy slopes.
As always, we had amazingly friendly Kenyan people with us during this hike. So shout out to the Kenyans again for simply being the best.
In this weeks Travel Vlog we show you what it is like to scale one of Kenya's best hikes. We show you the insane beauty of Mount Longonot, as well as give you an indication of how difficult it is to summit the crater and to walk the ridge.
We also want to give a shoutout to Camera’s Africa for helping us get all of the best gear, here are some links to what we use.

Haha thanks for laughing with 😅 we had to do what we had to do 😅
...but did you find your phone?
Hahaha yeah! I did!
@@ChloeKeleny phew, thought it was a cliffhanger and id have to wait for the next episode xoxo
Heyy!! Great vlog!! I felt like I did this hike with you!! I can’t believe how there’s masks up there, the decline looks insane from the peak. It was great, I suggest putting a zip line that crosses the crater!
Oh my word imagine how cool a zipline would be! Thanks for watching and the kind words!
@@ChloeKeleny it would be insane but interesting, no problem! Happy to watch, you make vlogs interesting to watch with the little details you add in. 👍 btw if u have a second drop by the channel I created vlogs as well! 😁😁
i guess Im asking randomly but does anyone know of a way to get back into an Instagram account?
I was stupid forgot the login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me.
@Drake Maddox Instablaster ;)
@Robert Harley Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Am still curious what's inside that forest crater. It's kinda like a mini mini mini Amazon forest. Even drones pick nothing
Right! There has to be something!!
if you slide down no one will come to help you
Dont be afraid to fall
Welcome to Kenya, feel at home. I just subscribed, How long will you be here? Do you need recommendations?
Thank you! We are here for the foreseeable future! And would love some recommendations!
Hope you guys got your phone back!
We did! Eventually! Added an extra 30 minutes to the hike 😭
I remember hiking on mt.longonot when I was in grade 6 it was a school trip never again i was so tired lol but it is a beautiful place..
Haha! It really was surprisingly difficult 😅 but so so so worth it!
Ha! Weirdly it was 'that' trip that made me fall in love with mountains. Think it was the first 'hard' physical thing I'd ever attempted, stuck with and completed unscathed.. apart from the dust but I wasn't vlogging so didn't care ;)
Did he find his phone? 😢
Hey guys … am coming to Kenya soon and am interested to do this Hike,, would you please recommend a tour guide or a travel agency that would help/guide me to make this happen?!
Hi Hiba! Simon was our guide and we HIGHLY recommend 0721 922 639

I really enjoy your guys videos! I climbed Mt. Longonot back in 1982 - I don't remember that much vegetation!
So interesting! I’d love to go explore down there!
Thanks for this beautiful video you have inspired me to go here
I'm so glad to hear that! Hope you have a great time!
Those path ways sometimes take me to Ngong hills
We would love to visit the Ngong hills sometime soon!
@@ChloeKeleny ok but that place is cold
If you get a chance then consider Himalayan trekking in India. It is difficult and steep but very beautiful. I did my first trek couple of weeks ago...
Woah this was absolutely beautiful! That crater is HUGE! Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks so much for watching! Have you done it before?
@@ChloeKeleny I have not but after watching your video this is something I am definitely considering to do one day!
Video does it justice. Feel like we all did this in High School! Karibuni!
Hahaha heard this from so many people! Did you do the full crater at school?
@@ChloeKeleny yes! realising now that this is actually quite a challenging task for kids!!
Please visit hell's gate
Chloe why did you wear those shoes?? ahahaha! Love the appearances by Kiki in these videos :)
hahah it was my only choice! A big mistake, but at the same time converse can legit do everything 🤷🏻♀️
Whish you guys had a drone........but the drone license in Kenya is quite expensive.....great video though
We had to leave our Drone in South Africa 😭 we wished we had it too!
@@ChloeKeleny but I hope you can borrow from African traveler is a UA-cam from Kenya u can connect with him
Ya I went there yesterday it is not easy and going down is so steep and the stairs don't have rails
I'm laughing guy's the way your going down 😂😂
Highlight of Dave’s year watching Chloe go down on her bum like that!
Last time I did this I felt like I will die 😂
Hahah so did we, it’s a tough one
Well done and thanks for sharing this interesting hike. I may do it in 2 weeks' time. : )

You music is so loud compared to your dialog.
Thanks for pointing that out! We'll try fix that moving forward!
Loving the crater lake view
Hiking with converse has no sense lads

@Dave mani &_tracy did you see this tracy need to loose weight here😅😅
We are heading there tomorrow
Lucky!!
It was a worthy experience.
Dave's best part of Kenya so far!
Wow, that hike looks quite hectic...I think the dust and sand made it even harder 🙈 it’s so cool how you guys walked all around the crater and I can’t believe how huge it is! I would also like to know what it’s like down in the crater 😬
I made that hike 20 years ago. They told me and my friend that we weren't going to make it before sunset, so obviously we saw that as a challenge and ran the all the way down the mountain.. We made it!
