- How Did Count Dooku Think The Clone Wars Would End? At the end of the war, Dooku was of course beheaded by Anakin, bringing the end of the war one step closer. But this is certainly not how he had envisioned the war ending. Dooku had major plans for the new Sith Empire, and it was very different, and maybe worse than the Empire that ultimately manifested. Dooku wanted to reorganize the Galaxy into one that was pure, without the corruption of the senate or democracy. Instead, the Galaxy would be ruled by a human-only totalitarian Government, led by himself and Palpatine. Power and wealth would be stripped from aliens and placed in the hands of the human government. He also wanted to turn the Jedi remnant into a legion of Sith warriors known as the fist of the Empire, who Dooku believed would be led by none other than Anakin Skywalker.

It's quite tragic that Dooku's horrible mentality began to unfold because his friend Lorian Nodd betrayed him when, as younglings, he framed him for stealing a Sith holocron. Interestingly, Lorian (despite becoming a criminal and fighting the Count, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan several times over the decades) ended up realizing what a fatal mistake he made and unsuccessfully tried to stop Dooku once the Clone Wars had already begun.

Lorian understood what he had done - Dooku believed that every single one would have to commit atrocities before they would learn and refused to let those atrocities perpetuate - He did not think the Galaxy should have to pay for their perpetual ignorance
Considering there wasn't even genocide planned it's not a bad mentality - Halo comes to mind (I've never played the games only listened to lore), the 'Mantle Of Responsibility' echos Dooku's sentiment quite closely, not hate and desire for control, but truly believing that humans are the best and only species qualified for the role of Shepard - given our unique ability to conceptually learn (as in purely theoretical concepts, not taking one thing and applying it elsewhere like more practical learning), that might not be wrong

I remember reading this book as a kid! I was FASCINATED to gain this kind of insight into Dooku as a Padawan, but I seem to remember it going down a bit differently. I remember Dooku’s Padawan friend stealing a Sith Holocron from within the Jedi Archives and not being able to properly handle its power, so he ASKED Dooku to take the blame FOR him. His reasoning was that Dooku had an impeccable reputation (at the time) and that the council would likely make his punishment quite light, while he himself had already been reprimanded several times before and was likely on his last strike before being kicked out of the order.
From what I recall, Dooku refused to take the blame for his friend’s terrible decision and basically turned him in. I’m pretty sure his friend WAS kicked out, too.

To be fair, the Empire was overall still pretty racist against aliens.
Definitely Sidious for the most part didn’t like non humans Thrawn was a notable exception
@@aamirrazak3467 you're right, Sidious was not a fan of non-humans. Once he gained enough power he ditched the alien consultants for human ones(seen in Return of the Jedi). Non-human officers, with few exceptions like Thrawn were removed from those positions. Slavery was bad during the Galactic Republic age, but was in locations outside of Republic jurisdiction. Empire comes in and slavery shot through the roof, especially with non-human species that showed specific traits like strength (Wookies) to be able to put them to work on the what is the imperial war machine. The only other species outside of Chiss that seemed to get some favor with the Empire was Trandoshians, and probably more because they are good hunters and slavers, so they were useful idiots.

@@aamirrazak3467he also seemed to be at least fond of Mas Amedda, considering the Chagorian was his secret right hand man throughout his entire climb to power and was aware of his secret identity as Darth Sidious (and yet, wasn’t killed off like pretty much everyone else who knew that secret).
Even made Amedda his Grand Vizier and, following Palpatine’s death, he briefly led the empire.
If I remember correctly, I thought Dooku had better intentions behind his allegiance to Sidious. Palpatine was able to also trick Dooku into thinking that the Republic was going to be destroyed (along with its corruption) and replaced with a less corrupt form of government.
I don’t think Dooku had in mind or even wanted the Galactic Empire that Palpatine was intending, Dooku just didn’t want the Republic, rather a more pure, just form of the Republic.
I wouldve thought Dooku's new order wouldve been much more inclusive

He saw them as useful idiots. Willing to go along with his plans, and he talks a good game and very charismatic which got them to trust them, and then stab them in the back.
This is honestly one of the aspects of Dooku i find weird. It was a random character trait thrown in the Revenge of the Sith Book before Dooku’s character was truly fleshed out. It feels antagonistic to his anti-corruption goals and inconsistent with his background.
It’s probably like how the nazis primary ally were Japan but it went against the pure blood arian ideals

*Fun fact:* Palpatine's plan to conquer the Galactic Republic is based on the plot of the 1947 comic "All-Star Comics Vol 1 37". In this story, the Injustice Society of the World tries to conquer America with a complex and brilliant plan, which consists of reinforcing the conflicts between different social groups to the point of starting a civil war. Once the situation became desperate enough, the Injustice Society would appear to cease the conflicts and bring order, winning the love of the people. Later, they would very easily accede to power in a democratic way thanks to the popularity generated by their actions, eventually managing to implement an absolutist system in America with the excuse of protecting the population from future social conflicts. It is incredible how complex and logical that this evil plan was, especially if we take into account that, at that time, comics were not yet taken very seriously.

1947 was still a few years before the Comic Code; the medium was in many ways self-serious in the Golden Age. And, of course, far more successful than today.

That was definitely an amazing trilogy
Oh man, just imagine you're going to see a movie called; Dooku a star wars story, it's precisely that story ark, transitioning into him waking up to realize it was a force vision, and the movie ends with Dooku planning to kill Chancellor Palpatine and recruit Anakin, after besting Anakin in an upcoming duel... So he smiles subtly when he sees Obi-Wan and Anakin board the ship he and the Chancellor are on, and simply says "I've been looking forward to this".

Dooku wanted the Jedi to rule and take lead, believing the Force made the enlightened and better equipped to lead
But because the Jedi couldn’t, he turned to the Sith instead
Dooku’s Empire reflects the origin of his name Darth Tyranus. Which came from the Greek word tyrant, as Greece at some points in their history at certain city states was ruled by absolute rulers, some were brutal but effective, as they claim them being educated and powerful made the better equipped to lead
Dooku in that regard believed similarly that he and those of the Force are meant to lead the galaxy with their enlightened wisdom, even if they must be brutal and take away freedoms to achieve it
But Palpatine never wanted this vision of the Empire, he doesn’t want to lead, he wants others to follow
He wanted the Empire to control itself by scaring the galaxy in Terror through a brutal military and superweapons to make an order that is ruled by the Dark Side itself
All while Palpatine becomes powerful enough to become immortal and powerful to be like a God King that rules the Empire forever
He saw Dooku’s vision as a rival to his, a reason why Dooku had to be removed In the end
So just the Empire but with less corruption and a large force of extremely competent warriors

Whats also funny is that Dooku viewed Anakin as less than a man because he had a prosthetic hand (even though he is responsible for that) and even during ROTS he still wanted obi wan to join him because he viewed him as a grandson.
I had a feeling that things would not end well for or in favor of Dooku even before REVENGE OF THE SITH. The Rule of Two generation of Sith was born from the ashes of the Old Sith Empire which kept the Sith alive and out of sight of their mortal enemies. But like the Sith of Old, power plays, backstabbing and overall using others until they were no longer useful was still alive and kicking in their personas and Sidious was no exception.

I mean, the way the Old/New Republic is a useless bureaucracy. The Empire doesn’t seem that bad. Maybe Dooku was on to something.
Anikans power pre-Kenobi’s SliceNDice was even more powerful than the Emperor-he jus didn’t yet possess Palpatine’s ability to temper his desires, that line about him “not wanting to rule over a Galaxy of dead men” was telling. Anakin ruled by sheer anger and hatred-much of it self hatred. It’s nearly unimaginable what this character could or would have been able to achieve were he not soooo impatient and angry.
Remember Yoda, speaking of Luke in Empire Strikes Back? “I cannot teach him; the boy has no patience. Much anger in him; like his father.” Also said “your father? Powerful Jedi was he. Hehehe. Powerful Jedi.”
The Emperor’s strength was his patience, his methods were that; methodical. He literally spent decades on his plan. And even though he perished at Vader’s hands, he still killed him. After ruling the Galaxy as Emperor for 20 years. Not too Shabby

I think Dooku genuinely thought the ends would justify the means. Like Palpatine was a necessary evil he would overthrow at the end of the war and then he would restore natural order and corruption would be eradicated and the galaxy would know peace. He thought Palpatine was part of his plan, and it wasn’t till the last moment that he realized it was the other way around.

So basically exactly how it ended up only Anakin took the place of Dooku and still became the leader of the "fist of the empire". Aka Vader's First (Anakin's storm trooper army plus the Inquisitors).
Doubt that he ever wanted to make a legion of siths of his own. Despite of dooku becoming a sith, he never wanted to support siths , and his actual plan after finishing war was to finish with Sidious, so he can restore republic and jedi order with expelling corruption. Also, Dooku, despite of being Sith, never used Dark side so often, which showed him, that despite of being sith, he still remained as a jedi deep in the heart
Dooku also didn't think Qui-gon would die until after the war was over.
